Hello everyone:
I've lurked on this site for a while, but haven't had anything worth posting... hopefully until now. Hence the brand new account.
My family's Mediterranean cruise at the end of May this year was in the latest batch of cancellations. I was holding out on waiting for Disney to officially make the cancellation, so I can't speak for anyone who cancelled prior. The reservation I had was made with an OBB discount, so the original had the 10% and the stateroom credit. My fare was also PIF at the time of Disney cancelling the voyage.
When I called Costco the hold time was only 20 minutes or so and I made a point about asking about the OBB and stateroom credit. The Costco agent was already aware of the question and said that Disney applying a workaround. I picked my cruise and cabin and Costco called Disney to make the reservation. What follows are the important details that I learned while making the rebooking:
They applied the full 125% FCC to my new reservation.
Since the original OBB is attached to the original reservation, they manually applied the 10% discount while making my new reservation.
The $200 stateroom credit from the original OBB is supposed to be applied within a few days for so.
The government taxes and fees from the original reservation are being refunded, regardless of what you decide to do.
The FCC and OBB do not apply to the new taxes and fees... just like before and as would be expected.
Overall, the experience was not nearly as difficult as I was expecting and I have to give credit to Costco and Disney for working to make things right and their customers happy. I hope this info sheds some light on questions that are being asked and help with decisions that anyone is having trouble making.
