After following the advice on another thread (saving packages on Disney.com, ordering DVD, etc.) I just received my very first PIN via e-mail today. It is a 20-30-40 PIN that would be valid during the dates we would like to travel in September 2010. The way the e-mail is written, it looks like the discount is off the room rate only, not the tickets or add-ons. Is that correct?

It would just be my husband and I traveling, no children and we're considering either POFQ or BC. If I were to book now and then they offer free dining, would I be able to add the free dining to our exisiting reservation? If not, which is usually the better deal?

I am so confused and could really use the advice of some DIS experts. Thanks in advance! :thumbsup2

You can only do one or the other.....if you book now using the 20-30-40, you can probably replace it w/ the free dining later if the hotel you want to stay at has the availability with that offer. ( if it's more economical) But you can't do both. You might want to price your trips at both hotels and see what the better deal would be. Usually, it is more beneficial to use the 40% if you're going to be at the BC (or any deluxe) ....the savings will be greater. But at a value, I think that free dining might be a better value (provided you want the dining plan). For a moderate (POFQ) you'd have to price it out and see what the better option is. You really have to decide what's best for your situation. I priced it out for us both ways, and it was a much greater discount with the 40% off deluxe vs. free dining.
But you can book your trip w/ the room only discount and add your park tickets and your dining plan on top of that. ( the discount will only be on your room though). but if you go out to Disney.com and plan your vacation, you will get a specific idea of what everything will cost...then you can do the math and see what's best for you ! Good luck and happy planning !!

It is a % off the room, but you can add tickets and dining (you just pay full price for the tickets and the dining)

Since you are considering a deluxe hotel, this is a better deal than free dining. Free dining is for the basic plan, which is about $43 per night per adult (don't know the exact amount) which is $86 off per night. 40% off the beach club would be at least $120 off per night (again, I don't know the exact number). So this is a better deal than free dining.

You can not have free dining and a % off the room.

Thanks for the input, everyone! I must admit my head is still spinning a little bit trying to figure out the math and what the best deal might be. We stayed at POFQ the last 2 years with free dining and that may still be the better way to go. Decisions, decisions....but a fun decision at that! Thanks again for the guidance!!

Just an FYI, you can book your room with your PIN now, and if/when FD is announced later next year you can call and see about changing your ressie to the offer if there is availability at your resort. The CM will run the numbers to match your current ressie, and let you know which would be the better deal!

How long did it take for you to get your pin code after you saved your packages? I am really hoping to get something we can use for next June or an extension of the 4/3 deal.

^^^ A little over a couple of weeks. Don't give up hope! pixiedust:
