After 11 ½ year me and 95% of your work force at my former company got lied off today. So we are doing the right thing and are going to FW for a week. :sad2:  :confused3 :cool1:

Well, dang.

Well, try not to think about it for a week and enjoy the trip.

I'm sorry to hear about your job. A trip to FW to relax sounds like a good idea..enjoy.;)

Ouch! You are definitely handling it the right way, though! Best of luck when you have to get back to 'real life'.

Sorry to hear about your job. :sad2: :sad2:

Hope you have a great time at the Fort. I know it will be hard but try and go and have fun and forget about things.

When are you going, maybe I could mix ya a kungaloosh, to drown your problems. We will be there from the 25 - 6

Just what I would do!!!! Have fun.

Sorry to here about your layoff. Things are pretty tough for many people and businesses right now. :scared: I can say that in my experience, every job I have ever lost has ended up being a blessing. It seems like it has always been the kick I needed to get out there and find something better.:) While you are at the Fort, make sure you get your photo on Burl's porch!!!:thumbsup2

While you are there why dont you go over to casting and look for a job. Then you could be at disney every day.:)

Last summer my dh got layoff after 22 years on the same job. No warning, no notice, he just went in one day and there was no job...sad day for us.
We couldn't beleive it, we always thought of the company as family oriented and to think how they layed off 52 working men with families without any warning makes me sick. :headache:

WOW,sorry to hear bout news! Thats the great thing bout the happiest place in the "World ", nothing can soothe and smooth a situation better than a visit to the Fort. HAVE A GREAT TIME !....All roads lead to the Fort.pirate:

Heck, Why not, Can't get any worse, huh, Enjoy!!!!!!!pixiedust: ::MinnieMo pluto: :tinker: :tinker: :tinker: :tinker: :donald: :dumbo: :tigger: :smickey: :smickey: :smickey: :mickeyjum :dogdance:

I'm sorry to hear about your lay-off. My DH got layed-off in November, and still hasn't found anything yet. He has sent roughly 60-70 resumes and we truly think it's age related - but you can't prove it when they reply (if they reply) that they've filled the job with a more qualified candidate. Anyhow - - make sure you file for unemployment!!!

Enjoy your week at the Fort!

You said you're in NC, right? My In-laws are in Salisbury and that area has been hit so hard with Lay-offs that it is unreal! The once thriving town is so sad to drive through now!

We live in an area outside of Charlotte and the economy is crappy for my family right now, I can't speak for everyone else but the blue collar world for us is falling apart.
It's almost coming to the point that you are either rich or poor there is hardly any inbetween now...guess which one we are....:rolleyes1

Unfortunately this seems to be the popular trend right now and it sucks!! My Dh was laid off in October, luckily he found another job, but he took a huge paycut. Our trips to the fort have been affected:mad: Our solution is that I have to go back to work

I got laid off in 1989 - a month before DW and I were to get married. She was getting out of grad school about the same time. Jobs were sparse in East TN then, so we ended up in Central Florida (long story).

Best thing that could have happen...I went back to college at UCF and worked at WDW. Got a degree and a great job that I NEVER would have gotten if I had not been laid off.

DisCamper, I think I saw you were a ex-CM. Disney IS the largest single site employer in the US (maybe world), has great insurance. A stop by Casting may not be a bad idea!

If I didn't have kids in school.....

Good luck,

I'm so sorry to hear that! A disney trip should help cheer you up.

I'm currently looking for a job because DH's is just not that stable. he's going to stay as long as they'll have him, but you just never know these days with big companies. or small ones.

Next week I'm going to have to apply to the one place I most dread working - CVS.

I'm in W-S. Company I worked for suddenly moved out of state. Luckily I've found a tem-to-hire job locally, but it was tough. Worked part time but now full time .. it's a bummer but have to do it. Just got back from WDW but would love to go there again before being hired full time. Should be counting my blessings because jobs are hard to find in this area!

if that would happen to either of us, that is where we would be. but, we would be looking for jobs there...
