...with $950 in Disney Gift Cards!

Used my RedCard and paid $902.50:cool1:. This covers all but $14.08 of our 2015 annual dues:yay:.

That saves us $47.50!:banana::banana::banana:

Wait a minute- you can use Disney gift cards to pay annual dues? Oh man I didn't know that and just paid with cc. :(

Good for you, OP. It is a good strategy. Sadly, I don't have the guts to buy $6900 worth of gift cards and then ask MS to use them for my dues, even though it would save me $345. Not sure if there is a limit to the number of gift cards that MS will take.

I don't think they have a limit, but in $50 increments, that would take quite a while to input 138 gift cards:faint:. I sent an e-mail today to Member Accounting and inquired what would be the easiest on their end. I have both photocopies and a scanned .pdf file of the back sides of the cards with the numbers and security codes visible. I can either snail mail the hard copy or send the scan as an e-mail attachment. I could probably find a fax machine if I need to do that instead. Either way, they can input the numbers at their leisure and I don't need to tie up a cast member on the phone if it's not necessary. If it takes them a couple days, so be it.

I paid $5000 of my trip last October this way - saved $250, which paid for our MNSSHP tix! :)

But yes, making 100 $50 payments online was a real pain in the butt!

Are you able to make dues payments online using your gift cards or do you have to call them in? Our dues are over $4000 and I wouldn't mind typing in all of the gc's myself if I could.

That is really what they ought to do - set up the payment page to accept GC's. Then owners can input them directly.

I expect that DVC will limit the use of gift cards for dues payment in the future so watch for the announcement.

Have you heard a rumor?

No, but in Disney's eyes the cards are not being used as designed.

They are discounted to get you to buy a couple, not a hundred or as loss leaders for the store.

They expect you to lose them or forget them in a drawer, not fax lists of numbers taking up the CM's time.

There isn't any benefit to Disney for you to use a discounted gift card to pay DVC dues. At some point the word will get to the person at Disney who will put a stop to it.

I started a Disney Vacation Savings account a year ago just to get the clock ticking (I funded it with $10.00) as a possible way to pay for DVC dues. I was wondering if anyone has successfully used funds from one of these accounts to pay for dues?
If so, I figured I could put multiple gift cards into the account and then have one form of payment for the dues.

I bought $1,000. I did it online buying 5 at a time because they have a limit. As of a couple of weeks ago, you can just go right back into your account and order all in the same day.

I get the point of your link that it isn't foolproof. But how in the world is that news lol

I buy ours at Giant Eagle when they have the 20 cents off fuelperks for every $50 of GCs. Last year I bought two $500 GCs. This year they were out though so I had to buy a $500 and a bunch of $100s. I don't have the patience to deal with $25 or $50 GCs for $1000+ dues!

I thought about buying a $902 Target gift card using my PayPal card to earn 1% and then ordering the Disney Gift cards online but is little leery with the problems with activations. I decided that of I get them in the store and there is a problem, it might be easier to resolve it in person.

I got home and loaded them all into the Disney gift card app and they are all showing up correctly.

I thought I'd heard of a way to consolidate small cards in to one large card. Does the Disney Store consolidate? I have about 15 x $50 cards that I considered using for part of our dues.

too much work and risk for this situation for me. The only way I'd consider fooling with this would be if the cards were scannable on my end in some way rather than entering the data. I would no be comfortable faxing or calling the info in, too much work and hassle for me and DVCMC both. Now if I were headed to Disney and wanted to use such cards as a replacement for a dining plan option, there really wouldn't be any risk or hassle on the usage though there's still risk on the CC side. If I could do $100 or larger per card I might consider it depending on the volume.

All I've heard about is loading them into the DVA and then using it s a gift card to pay dues or other items.

I did not think we could use these accounts for dues, but I would not be surprised if they changed their minds. I know this fall DVC members were offered a promotion on park tickets & the accounts could be used for this. I called member services and confirmed this, though they had to ask a supervisor. I tried it and my credit card was billed instead of my vacation club account. I think these accounts are still new and once they work out the kinks they will extend it service.
