Just returned from 8 nights at Cypress Pointe (not grand villas) in a 3 bedroom villa. Did Disney and Universal...will answer any questions I can....::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

Was it run down? Was it clean? How was the pool? How far from Disney? How long did it take to get to Disney? Would you stay there again? I am thinking about staying at CP. We have only ever stayed on property. But this time I think it may be nice to slow down, have more space, etc.

No...they have not finished remodeling yet....we were in building 8 and it was o.k.....The condo was very large considering I only paid 77.00/night. Having a laundry in the unit was great. The unit was a little worn but not as bad as other posts have said. We were 5 minutes from Disney and 15 minutes from Universal. The location is perfect. We only swam in the Volcano pool and the kids loved it...it was heated and they had a nice hot tub by the pool. My kids (and hubby) really enjoyed the Jacuzzi in the room. I would not call the resort high end by any means....but we are a middle class family and it worked out perfect for us. If I had to do again I would still stay there....

How were the water slides? Are they good ones or rinky dink ones they just put up after the fact? My kids love slides, but are kind of afraid of the short little tunnel ones. I have a feeling these are what they have there.

How well equipped is the kitchen? We stayed in a condo on the OBX a couple of years ago that was supposedly "fully equipped." We had to go to Wal-Mart and buy pots and pans and utensils. There was hardly anything there, and I'm afraid of running into the same thing here. Not that I plan to do a lot of cooking, but I will be doing some. How big of a place is this resort? I mean, is it possible to be so far away from the pool that you have to get in the car to get there (like onsite)? And how much soap and toilet paper were you given? I know that seems like a ridiculous question, but with what my family spends on toilet paper we could become DVC members! How many floors are these buildings and are there elevators? If not, would they honor a request for the first floor (I have some mobility problems)? How far away from your unit do you park your car? Also, I've read that this place can be noisy. Did you have any problems with that?
Thanks for offering to answer questions - I'll probably think of some more!

We were on the third floor....thats the top...and it was only stairs. You could probably request a first floor unit. The parking was right outside the units entrance. Each area had its own small parking lot and we never had any problems parking. As far as the water slides...they were short tube slides but my kids enjoyed them. The pool was a little too deep in most parts for my six year old and the childrens pool is a small bath tub. They had a sand volleyball court as well as basketball court right by the pool. In each unit there was 2 rolls of toiletpaper and 1 box of kleenex. Since we had the 3 bedroom, it was considered a 2 bedrrom and a 1 bedroom put togeather so we had 4 rolls of t.p. and 2 boxes of kleenex. Each bathroom also has your basic hotel size soap and shampoo. We also had 2 sets of start up coffee supplies. The kitchen had a small amount of garbage bags, 1 tiny bottle of dish detergent, 2 single use packages of dishwasher detergent, and 1 single use laundry detergent. As far as kitchen supplies...it had servings for 8. Being a family of 6 that was a problem. Only had 8 bowls, 8 dishes, and 8 of each silverware...I had to wash dishes or atleast silverware all the time. Had basic cookware and untensils for cooking as well as a large salad bowl and 8 small ones, mixer, blender, toaster, . Fridge is full sized with an ice maker in it. One thing there was plenty of is towels. Well I should say bath towels. We did wash towels often but we always had plenty. In the kitchen they gave you 1 pot holder and 1 kitchen towel and well as 1 small dish rag. Hope I covered everything...anything else just ask....have fun...Ann

Yes, Ann0511, thanks for all the info. But you forgot to mention how big the resort is. Not that it really matters, I've pretty much decided on it no matter how big it is. I was just curious as to whether we'd have to do a lot of walking. Geez, only 2 rolls of toilet paper! Guess I'd better plan on renting a U-haul to bring our toilet paper.;)

If you are looking for an elevator the units at Cypress Pointe Grand Villas are 5 stories high but have the elevator. There are only 7 buildings and most are close to the pool. We were there easter week and faced the main turtle pool and did not have a problem with noise.

I thought of another question. We are booked in the older units as well, and even though I requested a ground floor, I am not counting on it. Are there any bellman to lug our luggage up these stairs? If my husband has to do, he is going to be mad at me. Is there at least a service elevator for taking luggage up to the third floor? Thanks!

Did not see any bellman...no one even offered to help us when we checked in. The resort is definitly walking distance...meaning nothing is very far away. The buildings are pretty close to each other. We did not have any problems with noise, yet we had 4 kids so the people below us could give you a better idea on noise...lol....Very enjoyable resort....Ann

Really? They really expect you to carry all your luggage up two flights of steps? I am starting to wonder if it will be better to pay more for the grand villas.

What size were the beds in each bedroom? Is there a separate outside door in one of the bedrooms? How many tvs in the bedrooms? What about the tv in the living room, was it a decent size w/ cable? Did you go to 192 to get into Disney, or did you use the "back" roads? (Going by DD etc.)

Thanks so much for the answers!!:sunny:

Very few condo resorts have bellmen. This trip to the Vistana was the first time we had ever been offered one, but the offer was taken back once we said we had a car. You're not in a hotel, so everything is quite different, and it's certainly not Disney. The OP is very correct. Everything at Cypress Pointe is very close together, so walks are not long. We were on the third floor, I think, and my grandmother has severe mobility problems. She had difficulty, but she was ok throughout our entire week there. Can the kids help at all with luggage? Even if it's just some of the smaller stuff that will help your husband out a little. Ever since I can remember (so since I was about 3) I've been responsible for my own luggage, or at least a backpack or 2 on longer trips when we had more luggage with us. And don't forget, the luggage only has to go up those 2 flights of steps once. The other time they travel on the stairs they're on their way down.

We stayed in a two bedroom a few years ago, which had a king I think in the master bedroom, a queen pullout couch in the living room, and two twin beds in the guest bedroom. One of the twins also had a twin trundle bed. The master bedroom and living room had doors to a screened in balcony, and there was a door from the other side of the living room, which led to a semi-balcony that was about a foot out, and had a rail. I think it was mostly to let air in. The master bedroom and the living room both had tv's. The one in the master bedroom was typical hotel size, the one in the living room was a big screen one, plus there was a stereo on top. They both had cable. We went to Disney through Downtown Disney, since it's about 2 minutes down the road. You can also continue down 535 about 5 min, and connect with 536, which all together would take roughly 10-15 minutes to get to the parks.

We found the quickest way in from Cypress Pointe was to bypass the Disney Eastgate entrance (Hotel Plaza Blvd), stay on 535 and take the ramp onto I-4 West Tampa - stay in the right lane (which will be an exit only lane) and get off at the first exit, which will be 536 / Epcot Center drive. This way you will bypass all the traffic signals and traffic by the hotels and DTD.

Here is a link to the best map I've found for WDW:

Is there a separate outside door in one of the bedrooms?
The third bedroom (king bed) has a separate outside entrance and also a lockout entance into the 2 bdrm unit.

Also, tv in living room had dvd player, vcr in master bedroom.

Thanks for the info. Did the kitchen have a blender? Also in the two bed room part where would be the best place to put a crib? or do they have bedrailes that could be requested? Also what kind of activities did they have for kids besides the pool? And if so what type of fee did you have to pay? Thanks again

Did the kitchen have a blender?
Yes.

2nd bedroom was quite small, access to the twin beds would be difficult if a crib was in there, but if not using the beds it would work. Don't know about bed rails.

Only other things we saw for kids was a hair braiding stand and mini-golf. There were fees for both but I don't recall the amount.

Thanks for all the info. I still can't believe they do not have elevators. I would have never thought to ask about those when booking. I have never stayed anywhere, condos or hotel, without them. Seems like poor planning or cost cutting to me.
