We spent three nights at the Hard Rock and had a great time. The hotel was very accomodating and all the staff members were friendly and welcoming. The room was comfortable and the pool, with it's underwater music, was a nice break from the parks. We had breakfast one morning at The Kitchen which we enjoyed very much. We spent one day at IOA and a day at the studios. Here is my rundown:
IOA-
Hulk-best rollercoaster
Storm Force Accelatron- tea cup ride
Spiderman- best overall attraction
Dueling Dragons- i don't like seeing the other coaster so close. sorry, i know this is the thrill, but it's a little much for me.
Flying Unicorn- I convinced my DS8 to ride it and he hated it. Oh well. It's a little more intense than the typical kiddie coaster.
Sinbad show- very clever with good effects and humor. DS8 loved it.
Poseidon's Fury- great special effects which saves the lame story and acting.
The Cat in the Hat- alot like the winnie the pooh ride at MK with some spinning. I happen to like this ride alot. It has great visuals and very cute scenes.

Overall, this is a stunning park. Even if you don't like rides, you can't help but be in awe of the visuals.

Studios-
Jimmy Neutron- very well done simulator ride
Shrek- wonderful 4D movie. Loved the humor as well as the effects.
Men in Black- love this ride- always laugh my way through it.
Back to the Future- total whiplash
Woody Woodpecker's coaster- enough of a thrill for my DS8
ET-getting a little boring but it's a classic
Terminator- still a wonderfully done show

We skipped alot on this trip because the kids wanted some time at the HRH pool and we've done this park so many times in the past. We could have done alot more because the parks were pretty empty Fri afternoon and with FOTL, you really get through everything very quickly.

We saw the Mardi Gras parade and I thought so many people in the crowd were totally rude. There were adults snatching beads from kids hands as they tried to catch them as they were thrown from the floats. CMs were walking around selling vodka shots and people were carrying drinks and beers which I didn't remember as much of that from last year. It was less of an atmosphere for the kids and much more of an adult thing.

We had dinner one night at Emeril's which was very good but very pricey. THe next night, we ate at Tchoup Chop ( also one of Emeril's) and was much more impressed. The restaurant is beautiful and the wait staff could not have been any friendlier or attentive. They were amazing in their competency and desire to make your experience there a good one. The food was outstanding and we felt it was well worth the money.

There were employees walking around selling vodka shots during the parade!?!! I just can't believe that! I was really thinking the parade was going to be fun for the kids, but it doesn't sound like a good atmosphere at all. Did you stand in the Little Jester's Area that is just for kids?

Thanks for your report!

Sounds like a good trip but Mardi sounds not so god which is a pity:jester:

I didn't know there was a special spot for kids. Honestly, it was very difficult to get through the crowds. People were lining up for the parade more than an hour ahead of time and this was also when Sheena Easton started her concert and people were exiting the park as well. This all made it very difficult to manuever so we just sort of sat down where we could find a spot. We were on the sidewalk in front of Jimmy Neutron opposite Shrek. Even my DS16 commented on how grungy the crowd was.:(

Great report! Sorry to hear about the rude adults. Sometimes adults are worse behaved than the kids.......

Thanks for the report! I feel the same way you do about the rides and attractions with the exception of Dueling Dragons which I love. Tchoup Chop sounds wonderful. I just don't know if my kids would eat anything there so I hesitate to try it. Maybe DH and I should go without kids! :smooth:

Glad you had a good trip!

Tchoup Chop has a kid's menu. My DS8 was able to get Fettucinni Alfredo. They had other kid friendly entrees. But a night out with DH is an option too.;)

We were there last year and found most all the adults to be rude also. Well at least the ones there without kids. It was a bad scene and we had not planned to do it again. I was there this year for the first night and it rained. It was a good excuse to tell the kids why we were not going. We assumed it may have been canceled on B-52 night.

Glad you enjoyed the parks during the day!
