We got back yesterday and I posted my review about the GF on the resort board so here's the restaurants...
We travelled with myself (33), my mother (53) and my two DD (3 and 4)
Sat - Hoop Dee Doo - Great show for both adults and kids. Food was great although my girls would have liked to see some mac and cheese on the line up...ha!
Sun - Breakfast at Cape May...We had to wait about 30 mins for our PS no biggie we enjoyed looking around the resort. The food was good there was a nice selection. The characters were Minnie, Goofy, Chip and Dale. Minnie was very rushed and she only came by our table once for the photo op. Goofy and Chip/Dale would stop by to say hi every time they passed. Our waiter was not very good. He didn't return to fill our drinks or collect our plates until we flagged another waiter down to go get him.
Mon - Crystal Palace Breakfast - We didn't have to wait long for the PS. Of course the characters were the Pooh gang. Each character came only once and when they passed by if they realized they had already been to your table they kept right on going. The selection was minimal and I don't think that if you are given a later breakfast PS then they should shut down the stations. I understand they have to set up for lunch but the stations weren't even combined into one side, they were simply cleared off and shut down.
Room Service at GF that evening was excellent. I ordered a NY Strip and baked potato, my mother Prime Rib w/ baked potato, DD a child's steak dinner, and DD2 a sampler of hot dogs, mini burger and chicken strip. It came timely and was warm. The price was reasonable for room service. They brought all the fixings if you wanted a loaded potato..yum! The girls got the biggest kick out of eating in the room. Both steaks were prepared exactly as ordered and you could cut them with a butter knife. The veggies were steamed perfectly...cooked but still crispy.
Tues - Chef Mickey's breakfast - great selection, great food (as usual) Character interaction was extremely poor this time. Mickey acted like he was in a bad mood. My older DD said "I think he stayed up too late because he's kinda grouchy". The only food negative...CANNED pineapple chunks.
Wed - The kids went to the Pirates Adventure at GF and absolutely LOVED it! They gave them a small lunch of the crustables sandwiches, rice krispie treat, juice box, gummies. They were gone for two hours on a cruise and went to a beach to look for treasure. They told me they got to see horses so I'm assuming they docked somewhere at Ft Wilderness maybe?? Great Value for the activity. Only 26 bucks a piece. It will be a must do next time.
We had lunch at the GF Cafe. It was excellent. The service was excellent. I had chicken salad sandwich with chicken noodle soup. My mother had a turkey club with french onion soup.
Dinner at Rose and Crown - Very good! I had the fish and chips and my mother had the steak dinner. Great value as it included a appetizer, entree, dessert for 26.99. The salad dressing was different and I was afraid that I would not like it but it was terrific. Mustard vinagrette. The fish was white fish (cod I think they said on the menu) and didn't have that old fishy taste. We were given a table outside and watched illuminations during our meal. It was awesome.
Thurs - Princess Breafast (Norway) - terrible, terrible....food undercooked, Characters rushed. What stinks is we'll probably be forced to do it again next time as my girls love the princesses and I have found that is where the best selection are.
Alfredo's in Italy for dinner.....great!!!!!!! We didn't have a PS it was just pouring the rain and we walked in to ask if they had availability. We had to wait an hour but we watched Illuminations from Italy. I had the sampler that had lasagna, noodles, and ziti. My mother got the noodles and my girls had spaghetti and meatballs. I do not know the name of the dessert I got but it was the sweetened ricotta cheese wrapped in a chocolate pastry. Very, very good. My mother thought the waiter was rude but I didn't think so. I think it was a communication thing and he was very busy.
Fri - 1900 Park Fair for dinner - I didn't care for the selection, but everything seemed to be prepared well. I thought the man sitting next to us was going to eat his weight in mussels so they must have been good. The restaurant was dirty though and people were going up to the buffet with no shoes and little kids were up there unattended so they were touching everything which kinda made me lose my appetite anyhow. Cinderella didn't come around but once but the mice and Prince Charming were very good.
Sat - we just grabbed counter service as it was our shopping day. What can you say about counter service? We did go to the Mcdonald's at DTD and it was dirty with overflowing trash and flithy tables.
Sun - 1900 Park Fair for breakfast (compliments of GF for an earlier screw up). Breakfast was excellent, great selection and the pastries were incredible. The characters were really great also, very entertaining. The Mad Hatter never made it around to our table but that was okay because my kids are scared of him anyhow. A much better experience than Fridays.
So there you have it. Some were great and some were just down right terrible but all in all good eating experiences. Disney just needs to get back to their magical service and cleanliness.
