Just got back from VWL! Loved it!

Wow!

That's all I can say. I absolutely loved the feel and ambiance at the Villas At Wilderness Lodge!

I was such a OKW fan after our first trip 'home' that I didn't think that it could be topped...but, it has! VWL just had something about it. Something that I can't really explain...just a mix of wonderful things that really hit 'home' with my family and me.

We spent Wed, Thurs, Fri & Sat morning at the Villas and the parks and we will definitely be coming back to this resort in the future!

For those of you with small children, the location is fabulous due to the close proximity with the Magic Kingdom. Just a ferry away from the front of the gates.

To sum it up....WOW!

WOW AWESOME THAT IS DEFINITELY A PLACE we want to stay next! I love the feel just walking through there I cannot imagine what it is like to stay!

So Arny, tell me, did you like it? It's so nice to hear such excitement about a DVC trip. I think everyone should at least "try" the various resorts. As you discovered, there may be something out there that "suits" you better. I don't think there's a bad resort in the bunch but our personal tastes can be "wowed" differently!

We felt the same way when we stayed there this year. We had never stayed there before. What a truly awesome resort!! It is our new favorite place to stay.

Doug, the pool is okay. It doesn't compare to SAB. I actually liked the Villas quiet pool better than the main pool.

Glad you enjoyed your trip. We love VWL, which happens to be our "home". We are anxiously awaiting our third trip in June when we're taking DH extended family. I think the pool is great, but I've never been to SAB. We stayed at AKL last summer and I thought the pool there was comparable to WL (albeit much bigger!) I'll agree with Ripleysmom - we tend to spend more time at the quiet pool. My youngest DS is still a little water shy and he loves the smaller pool and fewer people. ArnyVee is right about it's convenience to MK. I've always thought as long as I have a child in a stoller - I'll stay at VWL, where I can roll that stroller right onto the boat and right off and never have to fold it up to stand on a bus!

Boy, was this a great benefit! With one little one now (just under 2 years old) and another 'planned' sometime next year, we will definitely stay at VWL more in the near future.

... it is still a very pretty pool and is great for younger kids, IMO. We stayed there with my then 6-year-old and 3-year-old DSs and they adored the pool and slide. I would say it might not be as exciting to a 10-year-old, but it's still a very attractive pool. The geyser is also pretty cool, and the boat rentals are fun, too. All in all, I would say that VWL offers something for the whole family. I find it to be one of the most relaxing places to stay at WDW. You feel transported from the whole theme-park atmosphere when you return to the hotel at the end of a busy day of touring... My family really enjoyed VWL and would definitely stay there again!

Ahh, there is something wonderful about the WL, isn't there? It seeps into your bones and stress magically disappears when I go through the doors. Ah, home.

Glad to hear you loved it, we always have. It was our favorite resort before buying DVC and it was the first DVC purchase for us. We love the theme, it has a good location and has a relaxed atmosphere.
If you like VWL, you need to try AKL, it's not DVC, but still an amazing place - now our favorite resort (outside DVC) - can't wait for a DVC there! Traded out DVC points for a concierge stay there on our 10th anniversary in May - 4 weeks and counting!

VWL is our home and our favorite resort. There is nothing better than going back to the lodge after a long day at the parks and relaxing by the pool listening to the VWL music.

We just returned from VWL ourselves. Must have crossed paths at the pool at some point!!

We love it there also..............we enjoy the quiet pool and Dh takes the kids back and forth when they feel the urge to go down the slide!!!!

Arny...glad you had a great trip! I was a bit concerned that us VWL lovers had built up your expectations so much that you might be disappointed!! Very happy to see that you enjoyed the area as much as we do.

And now I think you understand why the music they pipe in throughout the complex is such a part of the experience! It is the perfect complement to the theming, in my opinion.

Glad you liked it! We have not stayed at VWL, but stayed at WL before we became DVC members. Loved the resort, but didn't care for the long halls. We explored VWL a little in January, and ithe halls there don't seem so bad.
