My husband and I flew down last Thursday morning 5/19 until yesterday - 5/23. We had some leftover DVC points that we used to stay at POFQ. I had forgotten how much I loved this resort. Very easy to find your way around, and our room overlooked the river with benches right in front. Lovely way to start the day with coffee. Weather was very warm -hot!!-high 80's, low 90's. I shouldn't complain as I'm sitting here north of Boston with a noreaster rain storm at the moment!! The constant walking around in the heat does make you very tired, very quickly - even when you're drinking lots of water. I can't imagine what July is like.

We rode Soarin 4 times - loved that ride!! There really weren't many long lines - except Peter Pan one night - left that for the next night, and walked right on...I think the Castle looks beautiful with all the gold draping and figures on it. So much better than the birthday cake horror! Epcot was gorgeous with all the flowers and plants

We ate at Le Cellier, Epcot, and our meal was delicious. Also tried the Brown Derby for the Cobb Salad, and the grapefruit cake. Salad was good, but rather salty, but the cake was fabulous. Waitress kindly gave me a recipe card - must be requested often!! Chef Mickey's for breakfast Sunday morning. - Zooey, but fun!! Although, each time we went up to refill our plates, the table bus person cleaned it - took away our coffee cups,oj, and utensils. This happened twice - rather overzealous!! Waiter was all apologetic, as we had only been there 15 minutes!!

Saw too many parents pushing themselves and their kids. Too many parents/kids were having major meltdowns. Tiny babies out in that hot, blazing sun - made me nervous. I know if you have limited days there with your kids you want to experience everything, but these people didn't look like they were having any fun!!

Housekeeping at POFR was wonderful the first few days, then we had a replacement. She literally spoke no English - thus it was impossible to ask her for more towels, coffee, etc. I tried holding up one hand indicating 5 more minutes until we would leave so she could clean - she just yelled at me in Spanish. I think it would behoove Disney to hire someone with at least a rudimentary comprehension of the English language. I know it was both frustrating for not only her, but for us. Guess we'll need a quickie Berlitz course before we head down again!!

All in all a great quickie trip - and I thought the crowds were pretty low, and quite manageable.

Thanks for the trip report. I wonder why there aren't the huge crowds in May?

Reading you're report with envy .We were there this time last year and boy was it hot they had an unusul dry hot spell which meant oneday it was 104c& 98% humidity.I met someone from Arizona complaining about the heat!!!.While we were there one of our maids was chinese and really nice she even thanked me personally for the mouse keeping money it should have been the other way around with all the lovely towel animals and every day my DD's cuddly toys were put in different places which she found brilliant as she couldn't wait to get back to the room to see where they were put.One day our large Mickey&Minney were in a towel hammock strung between the curtains in the window.Back there again in Dec. and can't wait. :rotfl2: :cool1:

Thanks for the report, can't wait till sept when we go. Yes I am sitting here to in the noreaster too. I can't stand the weather up here lately. Thanks for sharing with us your trip.

Toby glad you had such a nice trip, I would love to be sweating right now, enjoying the northeastern in western Mass (high winds, rain, and cold) looks like we get to enjoy this weather all week long..

i'm sure i'll be ducking some arrows, but If you are living in this country you should learn at least some of the language

We also stayed at POFQ May 15-21 and had a great time. The night before we left we were going to check out the laundromat before bringing our clothes and as we were walking towards the lobby, I heard a woman screaming and moaning. I imagined the worst thing happening like a child caught on a wheel. Then I saw two women moving fast, then I thought a fight between two women???? As we got closer we realized it was a reunion. Boy, did this woman scare the heck out of me! She was so loud you could hear her from the parking lot. I spoke with other guests and they were thinking the same thing. What a relief! :bitelip:

We are heading down a week from Thursday to stay at POFQ. This really makes me excited to get there!

I would have been frustrated about not being able to communicate with the housekeeping as well - which has never happened to us at Disney before.

I think that May is extra nice because school is still in for most kids, so people have to wait until into June for those family vacations. Apparently, the weekend we are going is going to be AFTER school is out, so I am expecting large crowds, but knowing we will be back time and again, it is never too busy to have a good time for us. The urgency to do everything is gone now that we are DVCers, and it makes quite the difference in our trips.
