Well we did our first split stay and it was a piece of cake. The first leg of our trip was the YC.

We arrived around 6pm last Thursday night. Valet parked the car with no waiting, checked in with no waiting. We were given room 1091 on the ground floor out by the gazebo. It was awesome. Super quiet area, witnessed a wedding on the second day and had a very clean if not immaculate room. My only complaint was the humidity in the room was high. The ac was set to the coldest setting and the ceiling fan was on so the room was cold but the sticky humidity feeling never left it.

We loved using the quiet pool which was right by the hallway to our room. We had the hot tub and pool to ourselves for 3 days, it was heaven. The room was always cleaned by noon but never received any new towel art. I really was missing the comfy beds at the Swan...these beds are like rocks and have the roughest sheets possible.

We went to the BC a few times and it was a zoo! The YC lobby was always empty but the BC was packed with people. The pool area over there was also super busy. Here are a few pics of our room.

So we check out after breakfast and head to the Poly. DH has been dying to stay here for a long time so we were excited. We drove right over and valet the car with no waiting. We walked into chaos. The noise level was insane. The line to check in was crazy. We received our leis, checked in but were not given a room number and were told to keep our luggage with bell services and they would deliver it to the room when we were assigned one. Ok thats cool so we head to MK for a bit.

We were in the Fiji building by the marina on the second floor in room 2321. It was a nice room but I missed the double sinks, private shower and toilet area, the bathroom was so dark in there and the single mirror was a pain for DH and I. The 2 mirrors in the room and the one in the bathroom were not cleaned at all. The shower area was so tiny and the shower head was set low and DH is a tall guy so it was a problem for him. The water pressure was not what it was at the YC either. The ac at the Poly was so much better than at the YC though. The beds were softer but the sheets were super rough. The view was great but there wasnt a balcony. When the maids arrive in the am they are so loud, speaking Spanish and banging their carts around...at the YC you never heard a thing.

At the YC we were able to relax in the lobby and bar but at the Poly the lobby was hectic and loud and the bar at night is in Ohana and that was so loud you could not hear yourself think. There was a live musician there one night and that was cool.

There are only 2 pools at the Poly and no hot tub. The volcano pool was very crowded and the other pool was filled too. They closed the volcano pool the second day for unscheduled maintenance which made the second pool a war zone. No resting for us at this resort.

We liked both resorts, they had the up and down sides on both. If we go back for a week we would stay at the YC because of the quietness of the resort and the private pool and spa area. If we are going just for a weekend I would go back to the Poly.

This was great to read since we will be staying at the poly (we think) for the first time in April. We have stayed at the YC and LOVE it. We decided since we now have a toddler we would like to stay on the monorail. I'm so worried we are not going to like it that much since we LOVE the YC. We'll see. Thanks for the great review and pictures.:)

This was very helpful. We just stayed at the Poly and we loved it. But are considering BC as our next resort. I love the pics of the YC as well. So - I'm not sure what the differences are between the BC and YC. The BC seems busier? I thought the BC and YC were all connected - do they have separate lobbies? It looks like both share the restaurants Perhaps it would be better to stay on the YC side but still have access to all the other amenities as the BC. Food for thought.

The YC and the BC are connected...you can walk back and forth and share all the restaurants. The BC side was so much busier and that could be because of the villas. The BC had Stitch in the lobby many times, they have the character breakfast and the clam bake dinner and the line spills into the lobby. The pool with the shipwreck is in front of the BC so it gets very crowded. To us it just seemed noisier and more kids than at the YC side. Even the YC gift shop was super quiet! We had a great time and I am glad that we did 3 nights at the YC and 3 nights at the Poly...but I think overall we were happier at the YC

Thanks for the info. Hopefully we can find someplace we like as much. We loved the Poly but it was a very busy resort which I didn't mind too much. But now that I've gotten home and have read other peoples experiences I've noticed myself saying "yeah it was noisey" and I don't remember relaxing all too much. But w/3 kids I didn't expect to relax too much but still some quiet time would have been nice now that I think about it.

Thanks for writing the review. Your room at the YC looks awesome! I'd love to have that view.

Both resorts connect to each other but for some reason which I think is Cape May Cafe is usually much more crowded at the BC. We have stayed at both the YC and BC several times and luv both but I think we prefer the YC rooms hey are a tad bigger plus the lobby is a bit quiter. Eventhough the YC seems a little more grown up there are still plenty of kids in hte lobby so dont worry about that.

Great reviews (and very honest) and super pictures. My next resort is going to be the Yacht Club, we've stayed at the Beach Club and this trip we are starying at the Boardwalk.

:goodvibes

Ahhhh! I'm so looking forward to staying at the YC in December! We're splitting our stay between PC and YC, ending at YC. Thought we'd relax and enjoy it more at the end of the visit, rather than the beginning.

I've always heard wonderful things about the Poly and really want to stay there some day. But I'm thinking a split stay for a few nights would be the way to go! :)

Glad you enjoyed your holiday!

We love the Swan but often wonder if we are missing something at the YC. BC, or Poly. What makes you choose them over the Swan, if you don't mind sharing? :confused3 I'm always looking for good reasons to convince myself to spend more money:rotfl2: My DD 11 would appreciate any reason since the shipwreck pool is calling her name and I can't justify spending $200 more per night for just a pool. Please help me out:goodvibes :goodvibes

We originally were staying at the Swan for 4 nights and the Poly for 2 nights but DH had to change plans because of a business meeting he could not get out of. The Poly and Swan were sold out for the first half of our trip and the only thing open was the YC for $349 a night (no discounts open) and the BC villa for $1500+ for 3 nights. So YC it was and the Poly after (305 a night there).

We LOVE the Swan and usually stay there on a FL resident discount of $125 a night...if the discount was not available I would go back to the YC in a heartbeat.

We've stayed at YC before and know we love it!

Seriously, we considered the Swan for our December 2007 visit. Terrific room rate--until we added the third adult. They charged us almost the same rate as two rooms! YC with extra $25 for the third adult and an AAA discount was less--it won by default. And it has Storm-Along-Bay, which will be enjoyed by our younger (mid-thirties and age 9) visitors--weather permitting. :)

Of course, after saving money by staying at YC over Swan, we decided to treat ourselves to Club Level. :thumbsup2
