We just got back tonight. We were at OKW Jan. 26th for 6 nights.......

We were in bldg. 14 2br. villa 1429 on the 2nd floor............right across from HH. We booked HH and it was a great location for the bus stop and HH area. However....it did take a night or two getting used to the busses running right outside our master bedroom window. :goodvibes

Add us to the OKW lovers. You just can't beat hearing Jimmy Buffet music when you walk through the HH area. Love it. The 2 bedrooms are sooooooooooooooooooooooooo big. I love their set up. We have soooooooooooo much room. My dd and I had dinner one night at Olivias and the entire family had dinner there another night. It was good both times. I do however wish they had more for a counter service. That is one thing that would make it darn near perfect. The busses ran fine when we were there too. :thumbsup2 Our villa was clean when we arrived so no complaints there. On Towel and Trash day ....mousekeeping forgot to leave any shampoos/bodywash...so I did have to call for that when we got back that night, but they sent up plenty. Oh and I absolutely LOVE the laundry room.....you never hear the washer/dryer like you do in the other 2 brs. at the other resorts. Plus you get a full size washer and dryer which is wonderful.

This was our 2nd stay at OKW and we will not hesitate to stay there again. :thumbsup2 Love the theming and everyone was very friendly.

We were there for 3 weeks, jan 7 to 30, bldg 63. We agree with you. OKW is the very best. big rooms, no "hotel" feel. truly a home away from home.
we like the car parking arrangement, separate entrances, etc. we are retired & semi retired, so this is very relaxing for us.
pools, restaurant, transportation if you need it. this resort has it all!!!

WOW three weeks...........how nice. It really does have that "home away from home feel". As soon as my dh was sitting on the couch that first night and I was standing there looking at the huge space....we looked at each other and both said "this place is great". It was hysterical. The living area is soooooooooooooooooooooooo nice.

Glad you had such a nice trip-it really does have a tropical resort feel, doesn't it? :)

It was the OKW 2 bdrm that convinced my DH to seriously consider DVC. We visited a friend that owns OKW and staying 2 weeks. Her daughter was on the couch and had offered my DH a bowl of ice cream. My friend said, "Think how much nicer it is to sit on the couch watching TV with your feet up eating ice cream than sitting on a bed in your hotel room. AND if you want more ice cream, you just walk over to the kitchen...rather than putting your shoes back on and walking back to Captain Cooks." She had him at "with your feet up" :)

So glad to hear you loved it too.

:rotfl2: That is funny. I think every DVC'er should try OKW. I know every resort is not for everyone but we really love the atomosphere at OKW and of course the huge villas just puts it over the top.

We were there then too! Actually, we were at OKW building 46 (our favorite) that week. I have booked HH area for December, and I'm hoping we will get into the newly refurbed Peninsular road units! It looks like they are doing EVERYTHING in those right now!

Oh what are they doing to those?? I saw the wall up around that area. I do enjoy staying there.

We checked into OKW yesterday and we love this resort. We are in a 1 bedroom villa and our room is huge!!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully tomorrow it won't be raining and we can check out the rest of the resort. Can't say enough nice things about OKW :thumbsup2

One odd thing - no elevators? We are on the 3rd floor and trust me it's quite a hike with all of your luggage......but the room absolutely makes up for it :thumbsup2

We enjoyed a 2 bdr last June, and my mom had a studio below our unit. It really felt like we were home!
THis trip we enjoyed making the meals, saved a FORTUNE with our group:) Kids can actually play hide and seek ! Dh used the balcony for his office when he had to do some work!
Definately tough to go back to a studio after this! lol

OKW was built before the changes were made to the ADA requiring access to all units. 3 buildings (62, 63 & 64) were added later and do have elevators.

At least the stairs have a nice gentle rise. My 85 yo Mom with having the same hip replaced 3 times doesn't mind staying on the 2nd floor. 3rd floor is a little much for her, though. I did put in a request for 1st floor for our next trip.
