Just got back.....a few observations

Crowds were not bad at all, maybe a few more in the parks but all rides had standby times of 10-15 minutes or a reasonable Fast pass return time.
The Halloween party on Oct 31st was great. I thought the crowds would be insane, but it was fine. Parade was awesome.
Epcot on Saturday night was somewhat crowded but with quite a few drunks, so we left early.
Mission space is great, cant even tell you are spinning.

Spectromagic was just ok for a parade, I thought Halloween parade was better.

One mans dream at MGM was great, dont miss it. Fantasmic was fantastic.

Yesterday at MGM was start of Soap weekend. Also, the influx from Jersey was noticeable as the rudeness and smoking all over was on the rise.

Best meals, O'hana and Cape may clam bake. Cinderella made an appearance during dinner, even though there was to be no characters while dining at Cinderellas table.

My suggestions are, do everything opposite for an enjoyable time.
We avoided the early entry parks. We went to downtown Disney in the morning when the crowds were at the parks. We ate lunch at 2:00 with no lines at all in Pizza planet and Caseys.
We went to the end of the parade route to watch them and then the parks were already cleared out.
We ate dinner at 7:30, and had no waits for any priority seatings.

Any questions, let me know. We stayed 8 days and had a ball, cant wait to go back.

glad to hear you had a good trip--i am wondering how much more the crowds were during the NJ week?? we are planning outr trip for next year during this week. Also how was the weather , thanks Ann

Standby times went from 10-15 to 20-25 minutes. Weather was 84 and sunny for 7 straight days, then a 1/2 day of rain.

We were there at the same time as you!!! We also did MNSSHP on 10/31. We thought the "walking around" crowds were somewhat heavy. Overall though-- it was rather light crowds. By the end of the evening for MNSSHP-- we walked right onto Dumbo, Pooh, and Snow White!! We had also walked right onto Buzz. I thought the Halloween Parade was out of this world!!

We thought the weather was perfect (it was hot and humid!!) We had the rain on Wednesday and Thursday. The Wed. rain, cancelled the Share a Dream parade. We headed for Splash MT-- walked right on. Went down the big hill-- got soaked from a driving rain. Not one single person in line when we got out of our log-- they offered to let us stay on, but we had family waiting in the pouring rain for us!!

I was really worried about the crowds and mosquitos--- I didn't get bit once (I used an entire bottle of spray in 8 days). Out of 12 people we walked away w/ 5 bites. The crowds-- I've seen it more crowded in the "off season"!!

I'm going to assume you're kidding with that comment, as I am from NJ and am neither rude, nor do I smoke.

This guy has been on the boards for a while & he is a "RULE" freak with a very short fuse. It seems he has no sense of humor, so I am assuming he meant what he said about NJ people. My husband told me to go back & read some of his past posts for a laugh. We did & now we know why he made that remark. He likes to rile people to extend his threads. Don't take it personally......take it from where it came from.......lol

Yes, I do follow the rules. I do have a sense of humor and yes, I did mean it.
I noticed a distinct rise in rudeness my last two days there and 9 out of 10 times it was from someone with that distinct accent from Jersey. I am not being mean, just an observation.

I was there during those times and didn't notice any rude people. In fact this was probably the nicest time I went regarding peoples attitudes.

It's not fair to say it was the people from NJ.

Sorry we skipped our trip down this year . . . we're not rude, either - we don't smoke and we don't have the "Jersey" accent -
must have been the rude, smoking, NORTH Jersey people you encountered!!! (. . . and I AM just kidding !

There are rude people from everywhere. But if it walks like a duck and smokes like a duck it 's a duck. The nice people shouldn't be offended. It's the rude ones that have the I'm from NJ T-shirt on with a cigarette in their mouth that should change how they act. I have to say all in all people are good. But when it's "Jersey" week I have found far more pushy people with ugly attitudes and alot more smoking. Just a non scientific study. I believe the rates for people with New Jersey accents are higher in people from New Jersey than those form Iowa.

And not sure what New Jersey Days are, but what if they had Chicago days, LOL?

I work for an airline, on the airplane. Ttrust me there are RUDE people all over. That being said, the majority of people are very friendly and nice.

I can't believe you would think all people from NJ are rude and smoke. Like I said, I'm from NJ, lived there all my life, yet if you heard me talk you'd never know it. I don't have the typical 'Jersey' accent and no one in the area I am from does, which is actually in northern NJ, the stereotypically 'accent-heavy' area. We're 20 miles from NYC and really, unless you're lots closer than that you probably don't have the accent everyone thinks of. However, I have been to WDW many times, and never during Jersey week, and have seen many rude people but there's no way I'd generalize that they're all from one state, especially without being from that state myself. I have also rarely seen people wearing 'I'm from NJ' shirts and found that most people who wear a shirt with a state on it are not actually from that state, they're typically targeted to tourists. But hey, if you think the NJ residents are really that bad, that's fine, don't visit during 'Jersey week', it'll be less crowded for me.

I suppose everyone's idea of what "crowded" is depends on their own perception. As I posted earlier this week, we found Jersey Week to be *very* crowded and unpleasant for park touring. We'll never go again during that particular week, just as we avoid times like Christmas and Easter.

We met several lovely families from New Jersey, but also observed many that *weren't* so lovely. My ds (age 10) even picked up on it. What can you do? Avoid that week if it doesn't suit you.

I've read here the Jersey Days are sometime around the first week of November. As I understand it, it's when the state's school administrators and teachers have a conference and the kids have no school. So their parents bring them to WDW. When that is combined with the super soaps weekend, the crowds can be very high for the "off" season.

We just returned from a 3 week trip that began on the 22nd of Oct. We went to 3 MNSSHP's. The one on the 24th was the best for us, not too crowded and great weather. The parties on the 30th & 31st were definetly more crowed and had longer lines. Absolutley loved the Halloween Parade. The headless horsemen was too cool!

The last week of Oct was great. Weather and crowds were perfect.

The beginning of "Jersey Week" was quite noticable. I don't know if any other states have a teacher's conference during this period, but we saw a definite increase in "rude" behavior. I'm not labeling just observing. I have been to the MK during the busy summer months so I know what it's like during the busier times of the year. Maybe it was just bad luck that I ran into the wrong folks this time. My wife was the first to comment on this and I told her it was the "jersey week". However I did have the pleasure of sitting next to a delightful couple from Jersey during the hour and a half before the SM parade. They made the wait much more bearable.

Overall though, in the future I would avoid the first week of Nov.

I'm from MA (another state with a very high percentage of rude, obnoxious people). Years ago we visited NJ (six flags) and were stunned by the rudeness, vulgar language, line cutting, etc. Both nights we went out for dinner we had to move tables because of the bad language next to us. No one else gave it a second thought (waitress, offenders...). I am embarassed by the behavior in MA but they topped us in NJ. Would never return. And for all those nice people in NJ (which I am sure there are lots), I always taught my children that they are judged by the company they keep. You must speak up in restaurants, amusement parks, etc. and complain about this behavior. I do in MA and it works.
