Just got back a few hours ago from our PolynesianLVC & YC (err...I mean BC)

This is exactly the reason why I LOVE the Yacht Cub! LOL It's never been so quiet that I want to hush the kids though. Beach Club is definitely more active. A lot of that has to do with the extra DVC rooms. Makes for more people wandering about.

You definitely had resort let down after your great stay at the Polynesian. I never do split stays anymore because I always end up comparing the resorts and liking one better.

Absolutely agree Mouse Man. My husband and I loved the quietness and peacefulness of the YC. We were so glad it was that way. To each his own - some people will find problems anywhere - it is all in the expectations.

I have stayed at the Polynesian and the Yacht Club and will be staying at the Beach Club in December.

I have chosen the Yacht Club on return trips as I love the easy access to Epcot and MGM AND I like NOT having to *Aloha* every 5 minutes......I am only pointing this out to show different percetions. While I am NOT on vacation I have the type of job where I have to say A LOT of cheerful hellos, on my vacation, I don't want to have to........

I liked the Polynesian and would surely stay there again BUT I prefer the Yacht Club and am truly hoping to like the Beach Club as much.

As I suggested above, I get a really different feeling from the two. While the Beach Club is still "Cape May" to BW's "Atlantic City," it is not nearly as quiet and reserved as the YC.

We LOVED the YC, but I do hope that people will pay attention to the OP's comments about SAB. So often we hear that YC/BC are great for kids because of SAB. SAB is great if your kids are independent, strong swimmers. My kids are 9, 12 and 14 and swim like fish, have been on the swim team, etc. I could give them the run of the place and totally relax. However, I can see how it would be a stressful experience for parents of younger children...you'd have to follow them around, the lazy river is VERY deep, the slide entrance can't be seen from most of the rest of the pool, etc.

I completely agree and I would never recommend this pool for young swimmers or for one adult trying to watch multiple age children. As stated it is just too spread out and very deep and swift in sections.

I will chime in on this one too! While my kids were very young swimmers when we stayed there (3 and 4 at the time) I was used to letting them in pools with their life vests and sometimes just sitting at the edge and watching them and other times swimming along with them. Well at SAB, I had the scare of my life when the lazy river section just swept them away while I was swimming WITH them, and it was deep and I couldn't stand myself, so I am just swimming like I'm crossing the channel to catch up to them! They were fine, just floatin' along, but I nearly had a heart attack because I could not see them for a minute or two, never mind put my hands on them.

This is not the pool for parents to just sit on the side and relax. That's why I always chuckle to myself when I hear others complain about chair hogging at SAB. I always think, who is just sitting around at this pool?! I was always on the go, moving from one area to the next to swim/watch the kids!

Even now, with my kids being great swimmers and ages 10 and 11, I still don't think I would let them swim without me being able to keep my eye on them the whole time. Even the big slide, you can not possibly keep your eye on them if you are standing at the exit..the entrance to the slide is waaay across the walk way around the lagoon and I have had some nervous moments there too wondering if my kids were ever going to come down!

Not the SAB isn't a really cool pool, but I think for really little ones, they would be better off with a more "normal" type of pool.

We adore both the Yacht Club and Beach Club. I don't find the Yacht Club stuffy , I think it is classy. It is darker in the lobby but the rooms are bright and cheery and most of the views are great. I also like the the full balcony that you get with this resort. I want to stay at the Poly for part of a trip and almost did last year but I just hate to leave the Epcot resort area. I love the activity and being able to walk in the evening, the restaurants, the sounds from Epcot......ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Thankfully we do like different things or we would all be fighting to stay at the same resort! ;)

We are now BC DVCers but we tend to swim in the quiet pools. They are great but don't tell anyone....we love having the pools to ourselves:) :earboy2:
