How to make a WDW pizza at home.

Take a paper plate, put some tomato sauce on it top with newspaper mixed with mozzarella cheese.

From what I am reading, how does Disney manage to screw up pizza and other basic foods so badly? Poor quality ingredients, cooks that don't care or something else?

I once saw a special on the food at WDW. They have to make an amazing amount of them! So they devised a machine to make them in a hurry. Unlike you local pizza joint, which probably rolls it's dough by hand (maybe Pizza Hut and Dominoes excluded), Disney pizza dough doesn't get kneaded by hand, so without that, it's impossible to make a pizza that has good crust. I'm guessing the sauce has to be a certain consistency to work in their machine too.
And then of course, water is always crucial to good pizza. Florida water is just not the same as NY or Chicago water.

I don't think the ingredient quality is that bad, it's more the method. Disney has to make a ton of pizzas!

HAving said that, the pizzas at CSR WERE hand rolled and made to order, so there's were a cut above when we were there. I think some of the other resorts make their own pizzas, too.

As far as other foods, some of it again has to do with Disney finding a practical way to churn out enough food for everyone - and in a hurry. Folks don't want to wait for Disney to hand roll all their pizzas - they want food on demand.
At some QS places for example - if you order a chicken Caesar salad - the chicken is precooked, premeasured in a plastic bag - and microwaved to order - not grilled fresh to order. It doesn't taste as good, but if Disney grilled all it's chicken to order, it would take forever to get your food! Again, at CSR, they DO grill chicken to order for just the fajitas - and it takes quite a while to grill that chicken! So you see fokls who ordered the fajitas stading around waiting for food, while otehrs are halfway through their food already.(at least thelast time I was at CSR)

That's true at the counter service spots at the parks. The seated dining at the resorts is usually different story, which is why the pizza I mentioned earlier at Spoodles is actually decent - it is hand made in the kitchen of a table service restaurant at a deluxe resort.

Agree completely about the pizza This may have been a fluke, but the Ono at Kona Cafe this past fall was very nasty! I The further I got into it, I realized it wasn't cooked properly

Not food but ... GASP!!!... BEER! No say it isn't soooooo!

Yes, Kronenbourg beer in France at EPCOT. Hands down the most vile brew introduced to this palate in the past 46 years! DW bought me a Kronenbourg on our last trip, and me being the beer guy I am I took a chance.... If you see a big brown patch of dead grass on the lawn in France, that's what happened to my Kronenbourg!

Can I get my $5.95 back? LOL

I still don't see why they can't make decent pizza. I can pick up a frozen pizza from the store that is 20 times better than Disney. I think it would be better if they subbed it out to a company who can successfully churn out a ton of pies.

Vegetarian burger from Pecos Bills - Gross
Peanut butter brownie from Pecos Bills - Gross
Vegetarian pasta dish from California Grill was inedible. It was green and disgusting. I should've ordered the ravioli as an entree. It's delicious.
Gross Chinese chicken dish at Sunshine Seasons in Epcot. Chicken was so fatty and inedible.
Cuban vegetable sandwich at Sunshine Seasons had a disgusting vegetable in it that made it inedible. The roll was so hard that it must have been sitting out for about a week. Yuck!!

The Lo Mein from the quick dining Chinese place in Epcot (sorry can't remember the name). It was so gross!

I also vote for the chicken dinner at Prime Time Cafe. We had fun eating there, but no one liked their food and of course your waitress is trying to force you to clean your plate

The worst part about having nasty food served to you is the high price you pay for it (especially if you have to then buy a second meal somewhere else)!

Not food, but THE COFFEE!!!! It is so horrible!! I admit I am a coffee snob, but WDW coffee is just so gross!!!

My husband and I ate at the restaurant inside the Mexico pavilion at Epcot. I can't even remember what I had, but before we left the building, I was in the bathroom for 20 minutes...throwing it all up. Won't go back there until they rehab that restaurant.

My worst meals were: Anything from Biergarten and Mama Melroses. I can honestly say I have had better German and Italian food here at home in Minnesota. Yuck!

Whatever I ate at MGM...it was a chicken, black bean rice thing that was awful. And I'm not picky...was trying to find something healthy. This was healthy...only because I didn't waste the calories by eating it!!

Also, Fajita Burrito Wrap @ Cheesecake Factory Express in DisneyQuest. It was completely inedible. The one bite I took was spit out almost immediately. Everything we ordered from there was just plain old nasty even our desserts. Yuck I would not recommend going there for anything!
