I'm heading to the airport in a few hours, ending what was my first ever solo trip. This one was to Disneyland for the half marathon weekend and I will be going solo again for marathon weekend at WDW in Jan.

For the most part, I prefer solo over a trip with other people. I loved doing my own thing! In a lot of ways it didn't even feel that different to me. I didn't miss not talking to anyone. The only time it was a little boring was during meals, but I had enough to occupy me on my phone. One nice couple apparently felt bad for me and paid for my lunch at Wine Country! I wish I could have told them that I was having a great time and no pity was necessary!

Looking forward to Jan!

Congrats! Glad you had a great time and thanks for the post! I am doing my first solo trip in December (WDW), and while I am really looking forward to being able to do whatever I want, I am a bit hesitant. I almost cancelled in the past two weeks, but have some great friends that have talked me out of it. Seems a bit intimidating, but then again there are plenty of things I have never gotten to do before. There have been so many positive posts on the boards about solo trips, I hope mine is just as great! pixiedust:

I think if you are comfortable on your own then you will have a great time! I know there are some people that just need human interaction all of the time, but I am not one of those people! I realized a few times that touring the parks didn't even really feel that different solo vs with another person. I wouldn't even realize that I hadn't talked to anyone all day unless I really stopped to think about it. Honestly, the only time if felt a little awkward was on some of the dark rides, because they always gave me a vehicle by myself and I felt silly.

I'm glad you had a fun time. I would absolutely love a solo trip but I am not sure I would like not speaking to anyone the entire time lol. Especially at night.

It would be fun to see who else from the board is around in a park on a specific day and if they wanted to meet up. Who knows, you may just meet your Disney soul mate on a solo trip? Haha

That's true lol. I was actually supposed to meet up with some fellow DIS runners at Trader Sams, but I couldn't fit it in. It would have been fun, especially since I never made it there later!

I probably exaggerated a bit on the not talking to anyone. It's not like I never opened my mouth all day! Many CMs, especially at restaurants, will engage you in conversation. Other guests in line as well. I just didn't miss having a constant conversation. I think I was just too busy taking everything in. I also didn't wait on long lines with nothing to do.

I guess the biggest PRO to going solo is following your own schedule, or lack of one. I can get up, shower, and be out the door in 30 mins. No waiting on others to shower or to even wake up. If I decide I want to sleep in, no big deal. No one is affected by my plans. If I decide to jump out of a long line and do something else, I can. There are so many instances where not having to worry about what some else wants to do can be a big advantage.

Glad you had a great solo trip. I could totally get into a solo Disney vacation. I want to move back to FL just for Disney, lol. I'd be in those parks every week. :)

I agree! I just did an extended weekend with my sister a couple weeks ago. She had to leave a day earlier than me so I spent a day solo in the parks. I made enough chit chat with others in the parks and cast members I never really felt alone. I got to do all of my favorite things but it felt more relaxing being on just my own agenda. I would love love love to plan a full trip by myself next!

I'm loving my solo trip so far but having someone else there to put sun cream on you in the hard to reach places would be awesome!
