~Magic Kingdom~
Keeping in mind that DD wasnt her usual self, with her stomach trouble and all, I had planned on doing the parks in very small doses. We had lots of rest periods built into our schedule, and this worked out well for all of us, I think.
That said, my stomach-troubled kid had dragged me onto the Teacups twice by noon.
It was cool, with a light rain off-and-on. Some rides were walk-ons and most had short waits. Except for Dumbo, of course. And Buzz, our favorite. We went over to check the Buzz line periodically, and once I was leaning over to get a better look (Mom?) and saw it winding (Mom?!) around the corner all the way MOM! Look! A mailbox! I turned around.
It wasnt a mailbox; it was a trash bin. Hello!, it said. What pretty girls you are you must be sisters! A talking trash bin. A smooth-talking one even. Are you having a good time? What pretty hair you have! Very pleasant, he was, and he walked (?) along with us and chatted. DD just gaped. It spotted a CM friend in Tomorrowland. Rosie! Did you bring me something to eat? Now we had the giggles, and as he wandered away DD and I ducked into Annies for a cold drink. He spotted us again coming out. There they are, the sisters with the pretty hair! Theyve got frozen beverages! We walked back toward Fantasyland, and he followed along. People were staring. We said goodbye to him like old pals. Last we saw him, he was ambling toward the Speedway shouting greetings to stunned people.
We met Robin at the Crystal palace at 2pm, when the rest of the park was getting ready for the parade. Robin has logged nearly 70 WDW trips, and had never eaten here before. This was my third trip, and I could recite the menu. She and DD liked each other immediately and lost no time ganging up on me. I was to do Splash Mountain, right after lunch. I took my time eating. Luckily, the crowds were going strong after lunch and it became suddenly very humid. We decided to head over to Dixie Landings and get settled in.
Battling through the post-parade crowd, DD started fading. Pale face, flushed cheeks, vacant eyes. Definitely time to go, in a hurry. Outside the gates we saw some characters Minnie, Goofy, Baloo ( a favorite we hugged him), Cinderella, and oh my goodness, look who that is! The Fairy Godmother! Wed never seen her. She was heading inside the park. I looked at her questioningly, and then down at DD. Gracious lady, she leaned down to DD and said, will you walk along with me, dear? DD nodded, and followed while Godmother signed another girls book. Then another girl, and another suddenly there was a mother in front of us with three kids, taking pictures, a father with a baby, a sea of autograph books. A CM came out, took Godmother by the arm, Shell be back later folks! and hustled her toward the entry. DD followed behind, got lost in the crush of people, and gave up. Turned back toward me and handed her book over without a word. We walked toward the monorail, and she leaned against me the whole way. Damn!, I thought. Not good.

When a child is agitated, immerse in water. I get good results with this at home, and I did here, too. Even the walk to the pool area was refreshing. We met several ducks on the shady, meandering paths and saw squirrels and rabbits all over. DD perked up immediately in the Ol Man Island pool, and I perked up in the hot tub after. (Its got to be the hottest hot tub in the world.) It sounds silly to want a boiling Jacuzzi on a hot and humid day, but then when you get out .whoo-hoo, its a little chilly out here. Then, of course, I wanted to fall flat on my face for 8 hours.
Robin wouldnt let me though. There was a neat little pin on my pillow when we got back to the room. Oh yes, the Pin Fairy was here. Fairies are busy in this town. I was sleepy, the bed was extremely comfy, but DD by then was fully restored and we had to make plans for dinner. And we had pins to hunt for. (DD has her own collection as well.) We decided on the Concourse Steak House, where we could be close to the pin station there, and where I met Bob.
Bob is a waiter whos been at the Contemporary forever. He and Robin remembered each other from a previous visit, and he got a huge kick out of being requested as our server. They both recommended the asparagus soup with tomato cream, which was wonderful. I dont remember what I had for a main course because shortly after the soup DD became violently sick at the table. Then she was fine again. This is a kid who loves to eat, and this was just strange. We left soon, and DD fell asleep on me while waiting for the bus. I carried her all the way back to the Dixie and put her in bed, and I must have fallen asleep right away too. An early start was planned for the next day, at Epcot, and I wasn't sure how DD would take to that.
