DVC 1,000 Point Club (2026)

Happy to pay it forward and take over the mantle of the crazy family "uncle" who allows the kiddos to experience awesome things that they may not be able to do

This. You get one chance to make real memories with family and friends, and that chance is always right now. I have some nieces and nephews that tell me the best part of their childhood family vacation memories are the ones where they joined us for Disney trips, which they could never afford otherwise. I tell them I hope one day they can pay it forward and do that for others. Makes the points worth it!

Many of us like to do silly things such as stay in rooms larger than we need, have rooms that overlap so we have a place to hang out during a split stay, or what I am most guilty for, hosting friends family to "force" the fun. Happy to pay it forward and take over the mantle of the crazy family "uncle" who allows the kiddos to experience awesome things that they may not be able to do. We didn't have a lot when I was growing up and we had a good family friend we called "uncle" who would host us with his toys which allowed us to have great experiences on his boats, his quads/sandrails, stayed at his timeshares/vacation home in Lake Havasu, etc.

I'm currently planning a trip for friends/family to WDW for summer of 2027 what will likely need about 1800 to 2400 points and I'm also looking to plan a micro family reunion for Summer 2028 to align with the LA games for the east coast family to come visit, have a few days at DLR, and then try and catch some of the events for the Olympics.

The flexibility of the membership with banking and borrowing makes it fairly easy for those close to or joining to the comma club to "go crazy" and make some magic if they wish as 1000 points can turn into 3000 with some planning and that can be a fairly fun trip for a large party :)

Yeah, we are guilty of getting rooms larger than we need. Nothing like checking in and having someone ask "Is it just the two of you staying here?" 😬

I just saw a post with photos of the 3 bedroom each cottage at Vero. That is now on my list of must stays!

Highly recommend! Booked in one at the end of the month. We're 90 minutes away so we're at that resort a lot to visit family.

It's on our list too. That Aulani GV was beyond amazing. I was either on the deck or in the lazy river. 🤣

Excited to check in on Saturday!

Debating on 2BR vs Grand Villa for an Aulani trip myself. It's for 7 of us, so 2BR Ocean View seems like enough, but then the GV looks amazing (but at over twice the cost per night) 🤔

7 people in a 2 bedroom…. Speaking only for myself…. that sounds miserable. At least there are 3 bathrooms in an Aulani 2BD.

Yeah would be 2, 2, and 3 across the 3 rooms, and has 3 baths so it seems doable. Especially since we would have the master 🤣

wintersolider just pointed out in another thread that 2 2 bedrooms is the same cost as the GV. You could also do a 2 bed plus a 1 bed if you dont mind splitting up. If you don't want to split then I would do a GV for the extra space with that many people.

We loved the GV. It didnt wow me as much as some of the photos of other GV's do, maybe since it's not 2 floors? Im not sure. Could also be because I toured it I knew what to expect. Our view was spectacular. The one thing that would give me pause ever booking again though is I have seen some photos of the GV rooms on lower floors having not so great views and you always run the risk of getting put in one of those.

Yeah I probably wouldn't do a 2BR+1BR, that's like 60 ish points from the GV at that point so might as well take the plunge. Maaaaybe a 2BR+ a studio and then just hang out in the 2BR most of the time. Just doesn't really seem worth double the points from 2BR to GV if the 2BR will work.

I plan on being at the pool/beach/on an excursion most of the time anyway. Probably even more so than WDW. At WDW we use the room to rest, here the entire resort is for resting!

I guess Id say if you have the points to spare Id do it. If you are tight on points maybe save them. Or if this is a rare trip to Aulani it could be worth it. Things die down at night so you will much more down time in the room once the sun sets than at WDW. Depending on the time of year the pool can be open later than other times of the year.

Really depends on how many nights we finalize. I have 8 booked right now, but may bump it down to 6 or 7 so we can get back a day early before everyone goes back to work just in case.

If I move the full 8 nights to the grand villa it would require borrowing around 100 points it looks like, or banking almost 300 if we kept the 2BR. If we bump it down to 6 or 7 nights we would have enough points for GV, or be banking 350 or 400 ish to use in 2027 when the good stuff starts opening at WDW....

I borrowed to stay in the GV. I still look at my dashboard like whatttt. But its okay for us since when we go to WDW most of the time we are staying in 1 beds.

I do think that many nights a GV would be nice to have extra space when there is 7 people.

We really like having a common space that everyone can meet up to in addition to everyone having a private space that they can retreat to.

Also, there is a HUGE difference between Ocean View and Ocean Front with regards to a view.

Aulani GV is definitely worth the premium, IMO.
