Ok .....to those of you that were on the dreaded fire cruise, like I, are you as curious as I? The Magic cruise that just returned early due to the hurricane rcvd 50 percent off future cruise. We got 100.00 per stateroom for the scariest 90 minutes of my life...I really feel like Disney dropped the ball with this. Our ship was on fire in the middle of the Atlantic ocean...the crew did a fabulous job...I commend them for that...and did many times for those last 2 days of our trip....but I really just wonder why we were not offered any incentives to cruise with them again. I have not cruised with them since the fire....I have cruised once since with another line but that fire was always there in the back of my head...I love DCL....my children love DCL...I just really wish they would have done a little more for our inconvenience. Ok...done whinig...thanks for listening....

I am curious. What caused the fire? I just saw a picture in somone's album of the burnt stack. I would be scared to death if that happened! :scared: :scared1:

I can understand what you are saying, txtara. However, hindsight is 20/20. DCL didn't have to cut your cruise short (I don't think), so I guess they figured the $100 stateroom credit covered you for your troubles. It's a very subjective thing. If the fire lasted 90 minutes, you can figure that your cabin received a little more than a dollar per minute for your trouble. DCL can't pay you for fear because that's not tangible while lost vacation days are.

Like I said, I do understand where you are coming from, but what can you do? Interesting though about the fire. What a horrible situation.

The fire originated in the incinerator and did substantial damage to the aft funnel. Yes, it was a horrible experience.

mrsltg....the last 2 days of the trip were less than enjoyable. The Mickey pool was closed as were other parts of the ship. There was fire damage, water damage and smoke damage evident in many areas. It wasnt just 90 minutes of inconvenience. It was the middle of the night....waking my 2 children, 3 and 8 at the time, getting them dressed and trying to keep them calm....hoping that all was going to go well....hearing the fear in the crews voices...

Like I said, I understand where you're coming from. Please don't think I'm dismissing your concerns. Just trying to give you a possible 'why'.

If everyone here would put together a "worse things that happend on a DCL cruise" list, it would probably scare the beejeebers out of most people. There's the fire, huricanne changes, picking up boat people from cuba, the kid jumping overboard, the ship having to return to St. Thomas to pick up the parents of a small child left in the club, medical evacuations, near drownings on excursions etc, etc, etc.

But you gotta remember that even though we sail on Disney, we are still in the real world and life happens.
