Just curious - who is Bill W.?

We were on NCL Alaska cruise last month, and noticed there was the "Friends of Bill W. meeting" in daily navigator. I just noticed the same meeting, "Friends of Bill W", mentioned in the Wonder's navigator, too.

Anyone knows who Bill W. is and what the friends of Bill W. meeting is about?

Bill W was the co-founder of alcoholics anonymous. So...that is used as the "code" for the AA meetings in order to preserve privacy.
