Just curious on average everyone spends on food

We usually budget at least $100-125 per day for two people. We'll do at least one meal (breakfast, lunch, or dinner) in the park, one outside the park, and at least one or two snacks.

I just found my credit card statement from last summer's trip. For a family of of two teen boys and two adults we spent about $550 for all of us for meals and souveniers. We were there 4 full days with a half day on each end. That also included a WOC dinner at Ariels for $170. Take that away and we didn't spend all that much. Sometimes we just had ice cream or a pretzel for a meal. Also, we stay at CCI which has a free breakfast which helps. We ate at Cafe Orleans once and then the rest were counter service- Whitewater Snacks, Taste Pilots, etc.

When we go this fall, I think we are planning on about $20 per person per day.

Our plans include a free breakfast at the hotel, buying groceries and making our own lunches at the hotel (during an afternoon break), bringing our own snacks and water into the park as to minimize purchasing them inside the park. Our hotel also offers a free light dinner that we may attempt to utilize. We are budgeting for purchasing 1 meal in the park each day (around $10-15 per person) as well as having a little bit more if somebody wants a treat in the park (Dole Whip, ice cream bar, etc.).

We do it on the cheap. We get a bunch of cold cuts and other food, put it in a cooler and keep it in the hotel. We eat there for breakfast and lunch. For dinner we'll sometimes splurge and eat in the park and usually spend about $200 - $300 for 6 of us for 4 days (counting the food in the cooler).

If you want to eat just in the park, count on about $10 - $30 per person per meal (depending on where you eat).

Hard to eat in the park for less than $10 per person unless it's just a snack. Even the snacks generally run around $5.

We have been saving up all our change, garage sale monies, bday money etc to take with us for souveniors (sp?) and 1-2 meals in DTD but we will be eating the rest at our place. I'm bringing zip lock bags with so we can bring in our own snacks. Our Von's total is about $400 and I thought that was pretty good considering there will be 11 of us:) I let the kids know if they want extra snacks or treats in the park it will come out of their souvenior(sp? sorry too lazy to go spell check LOL) money.

The Dobies do all their eating in the parks, hotels, or DTD, cause hey, they are on vacation...

So three adult Dobies spent about $135 or so per day on food, averaged out, including churros but excluding boozage.

...oh, but we will totally blow this average this trip when we go to Napa Rose....and did I mention the MIMOSAS at La Brea Bakery Cafe???

Now we've mastered it. When we arrive in Anaheim, we find a local grocery store(usually the Target a couple blocks south), and bring our own snacks into the park. We also bring our own water which we refill throughout the day.

On thing that is always an absolutely treat to us, is bring ham with you to the park, and go get fresh bread in california adventures(and grab some butter), an make some mini ham or turkey/chicken sandwhiches. We also carried nutella with us for those sweet cravings. We saved a lot of money! ended up going to Bucca de Beppo a few more times with the money saved, and put some of that extra cash into souvenirs.

That is so funny you mentioned Nutella:) I am checking a suitcase (we are flying) that will exclusively have life jackets (staying at a rental with pool) meds and extra non perishable foods including NUTELLA....it's a staple in our home. LOL

I would love to end up having extra $$ to spend either on a nice meal or souvenirs at the end of the trip! So the more frugal the better for us.

We spent about $500-600 on our six days of vacation for the 3 of us on food. That includes two days of travel, both coming and going. We usually just grabbed danishes at the motel in the morning. One day went and picked up donuts for the room. But always either ate at the parks/DTD or drove to an off site restaurant for lunch/dinners.

We never do the whole grocery store thing. I'm soooo not cooking or preparing anything on vacation. lol

Since we rarely go on big vacations, I like to feel a little spoiled on our trips. We do have breakfast (usually) at the hotel and carry in snacks and water. But we eat 2 meals in the park and maybe a snack or two. We have a couple splurges this trip (Blue Bayou and Ariel's for WOC) but otherwise budget about $100 a day. Probably more than we need but I'd like one week to not worry about money for a change!

When I go with just my husband or with one of my grown kids we always splurge and don't cook but when it's the whole family I try to mainly because my teenage son has a peanut allergy and autism. Saves me some worry and stress:) otherwise even though I am a frugal frannie I truly believe in a vacation being a vacation!:)

Our budget for food is $140-$180 a day that is $28-$36 per person (5 adults), per day (7 days) :grouphug:. Once we get to Anaheim we go to Costco and get bottled water and go to Target for snacks & fruits we make coffee in the mornings and eat breakfast in the hotel. Other then that the rest of our meals our in DL, DTD or DCA. We roll over the money for food that we don't spend that day and continue that until the last day and whatever we have extra we us for souvenirs :woohoo:.

Last trip we budgeted $100 a day. This time it is $200 since we are doing BB, Celebration Roundup, Minnie and Cafe Orleans. Only go around once and I am making up for being poor as a kid. Still don't have a lot of money(make barely anything...but, I don't have alot of bills) so my extra money is spent on vacations.

For a 5-6 day trip, we usually spend about $100ish on groceries (we provide those for usually 7 people in our room) which means all breakfasts and one or two dinners. Everyone else gets their own lunches/most dinners, so its just $20/day for me and the DH to eat lunch/snacks in the park (usually one burger/corn dog/burrito plate to share plus one treat, also to share whether beignets or a waffle cone). One or two nights we spend $50 on a fancy dinner (can't live without Cafe Orleans at least once per trip!) but the other nights we do In-N-Out or other delicious specialty fast food we can't get on our island for about $10. So 3.5 days at $30, 2 days at $70, add $100 in groceries for $345-ish? Not bad.

We'd spend the same amount on groceries if we were at home, so that doesn't really count to me as part of my 'vacation' budget, and having the flats of waters bottles to carry with us means we can justify stopping for ice cream/churros/etc on a whim (one of the few things we have discovered it doesn't taste as good out of the carton in our villa versus strolling though the parks, even if its Hagen Daz :thumbsup2).

We are a family of 4: 2 adults and 2 kids ages 6 and 4 who eat larger kids portions; kids' meals aren't typically enough unless it's a hot dog or chicken (chicken nuggets and mac n cheese aren't enough).

We spend around $125 total a day on two meals and snacks and that doesn't include water.

We eat the free breakfast at the hotel and sometimes their free "dinner" also. We've also brought a rotisserie chicken, a bag of microwave steamer veggies and microwave rice, a bag of rolls for dinner in our hotel room, not a lot of prep there, just microwaving in bag and total cost for that meal is around $10. Or stop at Costco for a $10 pizza and a bag of salad. We do a grocery store stop before check-in and get snacks for the room, bottled water, fruit.

Since we drive to Disney, we have a cooler and bag full of snacks and drinks. For my family of 3 and my son has multiple allergies we bring food he can snack on and we have the hotel's free breakfast. We use the disney reward dollars to help out with the food expense, but do splurge for a character meal. I think 50-70 for us is probably accurate.

We would be in the 'splurge' category...we are a family of 5-4 adults and one child...our budget is $45.00 to $50.00 a person a day. We will make PS for our next trip at Napa Rose and Steakhouse 55 a dinner at Goofy's Kitchen and lunch at the Blue Bayou, if it is showing during this trip we will make reservations for the Fantasmic Dessert viewing seating. Most mornings we use room service. We will drive to Disneyland this year unless we find really good SW airfares...if we drive we bring water and snacks. We figure this is vacation so splurge :cool1:

I am going with my brother to DL in a few weeks. i am 19 he is 13 and i am not a big eater(seriously, i will eat off the kids menu). I plan on bringing water & snacks (crackers, ect) into the parks with me. But i do think we will do a snack each, everyday. plus a meal in Downtown Disney(either late lunch or dinner). We are going to get there on a Sunday Evening, and then spend 3 days in the park & drive home...
We are staying at the Park vue so i am not worried about breakfast, how much do you think i would spend on food?

A strategy I use at the parks here at home that I plan to use during my DL trip is to rely only on water bottles for drinks during the day. Saves a lot of cash. I'll just buy a bottle of water at one point (I bring one from home for the parks here) then refill it throughout the day. Saves about $3 for each meal. Depending on how hungry I am or what is offered, I'll get a kids meal to save even more.

I'm splurging on this trip because it's special, but on the days we're doing a premium meal (Goofy's and WOC) I'll be frugal with food spending for the rest of the day. So, for one person, I'm aiming for no more than $30 a day, with the exception of 2 days to cover the premium meals and other food. The rest of my budget goes to hotel, transportation, and other unforeseen costs. I'll be going light on the souvenirs since I'm sure most stuff I can get here at WDW.
