Just curious how many pts you have?

5 contracts............1st was 150 OKW....so we could get VGC when it became available
then 120 VGC
then 100 VWL
then another 250 OKW and 130 VGC
Total now 750

We alternate years between WDW and DLR. Usually 3-5 trips a year.
This is a WDW. I have been there for 2 weeks in Jan, 1 in June. Will go back for 2 weeks in Oct. and then a family trip in Dec for 2 weeks.

It's enough points for us
But the kids (adults) are starting to want to use them more and more!

Looks like you have done your fair share. Let the kids (adults) raid their piggy banks to buy the next 750 pts and send you on a cruise?

I'm in the process of selling my BWV contract of 150 points that I bought direct from Disney back in 1999. I also have a 50 point contract at VWL and a 60 point contract at VGC.

Are you downsizing or just trading for another preferred resort?

This is amazing. One of my biggest beefs with garden grocer is I find the quality if meat so poor compared to at home. I figured I'd go to whole foods to buy meat and produce. How are they for cost?

Whole Foods is pricey but you get what you pay for (higher price = better quality, for the most part).

250 at AKL and 50 at BWV. We bought AK sight unseen just because we loved the concept. BW was an add on because we like the EPCOT area and wanted a few nights there. And we usually go in a value season.

Our use is all over the map! Wife and I will usually go to Orlando or HI alone once a year and get a studio for a few days.

We've gifted rooms to friends and family. We rented points to a friend this year for the first time.

A few years ago we banked and borrowed and got a GV and studio at AK for a very large family function - which was amazing (and will never do it again!).

We have a dear family friend who is battling a life threatening illness and we took her to a WDW trip (everything we touched turned to gold that trip!)

Next year my oldest daughter is graduating college and we're planning a family adventure to HI including both grandmas.

We have had an incredible time with our DVC and look forward to many years of the same.

Where is your next trip going to be?

We are doing the last 7 day Southern Caribbean cruise on the Magic this October plus the following 3 day reposition to Port Canaveral back to back, followed up by 4 nights at AKV. Next year, we are planning on doing the "Bella Italy" Adventures by Disney trip, which will be our first ABD trip.

We have 435. The problem is, that would be plenty for us. Our problem is that now we find ourselves carrying friends and their families. Suddenly, a studio or a one bedroom turns into a 2 bedroom and usually at peak or just slightly off-peak season since most people's schedules aren't nearly as flexible as ours.

I'd love to have 200 more at VGF, and I never thought I'd say that. I always said I wouldn't buy into GF because of the snobbishness I perceived when I went there. Then I saw the villas which caused me to do a sincere re-evaluation of my perceptions. What I learned was that my perception was more resentment (When I couldn't afford to stay there.) and from reading what others had posted than from my own experiences. Just being honest here. After a couple of trips over there during our last two trips, I have a totally different opinion of GF. Now I just have to figure out how to afford it.

I think 700 would be a nice maintainable number if it were paid for and only had annual MFs, at least for us. That's where I'd like to be. I'm working on it, but now I'm doing it methodically instead of emotionally because I don't have to have the points right now.

HHI is one of our favorite destinations.

I keep reading people saying buy SSR for price but in the next breath can't wait to get Grand Floridian or Polynesian when it comes out. Which way would you in the 1000 club recommend?

Your honesty at jealous is refreshing. I get it also and not always honest with myself.
I turn 60 this year and noticed over the years that are a lot of people of who acquire status/ wealth but act like everyday people. Many of the wannabes are the ones who carry the airs and attitude - "snobs".

1000 club chiming in here. Our first 180 was SSR direct simply because we enjoyed our first stay there when we rented points. At the time AKV had not existed yet. Since then, everywhere else we have bought has been because we wanted to stay there. We generally don't care where we stay so we have SSR points for our unplanned spur of the moment getaways which are quite frequent. We have 380 SSR points now. The other 200 was resale. We bought both direct and resale at AKV because it is my favorite resort. We like to treat family to a GV stay here once in a while. We have 400 here. We bought 220 at VGF since it is DH's favorite and we wanted to also treat family here once every few years. When we found ourselves going to Food & Wine every weekend we decided to get enough points to stay in a studio for most of the weekends. We have 100 resale there and are waiting for another 100 to pass rofr.

We've done 4 Disney cruises since joining DVC back in 2000. Only on 1 cruise were we recognized as being DVC members and two of the cruises we booked through DVC on a mixture of points and cash. However we approached the DVC desk and were given the DVC trinkets.

I'm also planning a DCL trip in 2015 to Hawaii with my sister, Mom and niece and hope to use points to stay at the Disney resort in Hawaii before the cruise so this board has been helpful.

Since then, everywhere else we have bought has been because we wanted to stay there. We generally don't care where we stay so we have SSR points for our unplanned spur of the moment getaways which are quite frequent. We have 380 SSR points now. The other 200 was resale. We bought both direct and resale at AKV because it is my favorite resort. We like to treat family to a GV stay here once in a while. We have 400 here. I wish I had heard about this site before we bought in 2009. We keep changing how we use our pts and plans to use in future. Love to hear how you guys do it!!

Thanks for the heads up. I will be sure to let them know when I book cash that were are DVC. If not I will try the front desk like you suggested. Don't mind not getting the trinkets but would love the DVC welcome home!!
