DH has now lived through induction - and continues to eat by the induction rules. He started out at 237 lbs. and is now down to 226. He was 224 a few days ago, but for some reason jumped back up, even though he hasn't cheated at all. He's quite happy with the way things are going, and learning to live without all the carbs. Thanks to nativetexan and glo especially for their words of encouragement. He's doing great with it (even though he still says those first days were torture).:D :D

That's great news! I'm glad he is doing so well. Men have fluid fluctuations too, that 2 pound gain is most likely something like that, especially if he is still following induction.

Be sure and measure him, okay? He will hit a stall, my dh did, didn't lose anything for a month, oh, did he get grumpy. But I had measured him and by showing him how many inches he was losing even though the scale wasn't moving, kept him from giving up. Of course, the fact that he just feels better controlling his diabetes this way, he wasn't going to quit anyway, but it sure helped with his grumpiness.

Congratulations to your husband. He is past the hard part now. Has he checked to see if he is in ketosis? I don't doubt that he is if he is still following induction.

I know you are proud of him, what a good friend you are to him, to help him get so healthy :)

Yes, that first week or so is awful! Does he have that 'better than ever' 'extra energy' 'loss of appetite' feeling yet?

I bet he is getting all sorts of wonderful info from you from reading the boards! I'm glad you are checking in with us. Keep us posted -- and ask DH to stop by sometime. Maybe he would like to jump in to WISH chat with you tonite at 9:00pm est. Kath is hosting it tonite --- and I believe Glo is planning to stop by too.
:D

Thanks guys. Yes - he bought the Ketostix - and has been showing "moderate" or almost dark purple. I find they do motivate him. My mom and dad are also on the diet and my mom's has been dark purple for a couple weeks now. My dad, however, is doing his own version of Atkins - no carbs if you can pretend beer isn't a carb.

Tell your dad to switch to Michelob Ultra lite. 2 carbs in 12 ounces :)

Thanks for the update! That is awesome! Please tell your DH I said CONGRATULATIONS and that I hope he continues to have such Tiggerific results!!! Woo-hoo!!!!! :)

Great news!! :bounce:
My DH also survived Induction and has decided to stay on it for awhile longer. :teeth:

I'll be showing him this thread later on. He certainly is impressing me - I know I couldn't do it - I'm way too addicted to grains (and not the kind in beer like my dad;) )

Tell him that I sympathize with him - I'm on my 4th day of induction - finally feeling a little better. Headaches almost gone, but still feeling tired. I weigh myself tomorrow - we'll see!

Tell him to keep up the good work!!
