B15 and B16

so glad I didn't spend the extra $30. This is out of MHT. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I wouldn't be happy with B. It is decent, but you will be after Family Boarding. For me the extra money is well worth having peace of mind and not playing russian roulette with my boarding position.

We have been pretty fortunate with getting seating in B group without having to buy EB. Of course, I always check in right on the dot at the 24 hour mark but so far this has worked for us.

Trying to decide whether to add EB to my reservation next Saturday out of Philly. I'm thinking it could be a waste of money, especially since they just lowered the price on my 5:30 pm flight to $52 (which means another trip will be planned, have to use that credit!). With them discounting the price, logically you would think the flight has a good amount of seats left, right?

My main dilemma is I will be driving home from work at 5:30 on Friday, and will have to rely on my husband to be ready on the computer at 5:30 on the dot to get those boarding passes!

We never pay for EBC. We are generally in the B's and usually find seats together. We're all adults tho so if we HAVE to get split up we can without too much stressing. I mean, obviously we'd prefer to be together but there was one flight we weren't. But that was because we were late getting to the airport gate and missed our assigned boarding positions and had to board with the 'C' group. We were actually lucky we didn't miss the flight entirely.

I just flew back from Orlando with no EB. I check in at 24 hrs (countdown and everything)...and got B3-6. If it was from anywhere else other than Orlando, we typically get A20-50, depending on how popular EB is from the departure airport. We fly with SW frequently.

I am fine with Bs...still plenty of seats all together near the back of the plane.

I was on a flight where B20 was last boarding number and plane was half full when
As started

I bet that can happen at places which are popular connections. I doubt the OP will have that issue on a 6:30 AM flight (I hope she doesn't!).

it was a 10am flight out of Philly, but did not over night there, headed to Orlando

At this point there is little advantage to adding EBCI. The spot you get is based on when you bought EBCI. The only help it would be now is if someone is not able to check in right at the 24hr mark. If it were me I would be bugging my DH all day long to make sure he had the finger on the button at the exact time.

I agree. Best time to buy EBCI is when tickets are first released.

And yes, even worth it to pull over and do it yourself on the dot at 5:30.

Thanks! I may just stay a little late at work and do it from there just to be safe. I'd hate to be in B group after all the families, though I know from past early evening flights they are not usually booked solid.

I always do EBCI because I'd like to avoid the B section. At least for Orlando there is usually a large family boarding. I've actually been on a couple where family boarding was cancelled because half the passengers were using it.

Mostly I do EBCI because I am not in a hub and have to change planes. My home airport might be okay but that second flight is usually where a low boarding number pays off, even when I'm flying solo.

This July my daughter and I were A1 and A2. First the plane had through passengers, then there was a huge preboarding line because made a wish had something going on. Provably about 100 people. The family boarding wad already lining up and that looked to be about 50 passages. We were the first two to board with regular boarding passes and the plane as over half full. I'm guessing the people in B were some of the last to board. Its the luck of the draw.

We never buy it either and have gotten a high A boarding number more often than we would think possible checking in right at the 24 hour mark.

I thought B15 and 16 were pretty good for no EBCI. I usually do buy it and have it for our flight home. I don't want to stress about while in Disney. I've gotten B's plenty of times even with EBCI.

Our flight down had some open middle seats, probably 80% full.

I did hear a flight attendant telling someone "just pay for 1 EBCI and save seats." Found that annoying since I always buy it for everyone even when there was five of us.

Funny little A1 story....
A couple years ago my DD and I were flying home from MCO and I kept seeing this man. Seemed like every place we went in the airport, there he was. Turned out that he was on our flight (that sort of thing seems to happen to me a lot :confused3). The very first announcement they make regarding boarding procedures this guy jumps up out of his seat and marches over to take his position at A1. He even had his boarding card proudly displayed in his shirt pocket with the big A1 right there for all to see. He ended up standing there for probably 20 minutes before they actually asked anyone to line up. It really seemed like he wanted everyone to know that he had the A1. The whole thing really amused me.

That's too funny. The only reason we had them is we paid to upgrade. My teenage daughter has severe flying anxiety and would not be able to fly alone. Our EBCI got us a high B. I thought people thought of us as suckers for paying more rather than having a trophy.
At least he got his day in the sun . :sunny:

I don't mind B,as my DH says,it helps him to avoid the seats and people he wants to avoid....like noisy babies climbing on him lol. It's true, even with C last trip we had no issues finding seats together.
