Just called about FREE DINING.....

More to the point, does she subscribe to any magazines?

Does she have cable or internet, or satellite?

Disney is known to buy or access lists of subscribers to certain things as certain ones would be considered 'target rich' for Disney vacations.

They make offers to these classes of non-Disney customers as part of the mailout for the 'returning' customers.

Sounds like they can find you if they want to.....:)

Doesn't matter if she's been to the DW site or not. PIN codes can be targeted, and they can be targeted for anyone who has a Disney internet account even if they have never been to the WDW site or maybe even for persons who have never booked before if they want to encourage first time visitors and your friend meets the targeting criteria. Even if she does business with another company that shares info with Disney. I'm sure some of them do that.

It would be totally out of character for Disney to release a free dining offer available to the general public with no announcement at all. The GP offers are strictly to fill unsold rooms and they'd want it as widely distributed as possible. Just don't want to see those who have been waiting get their hopes up.

Yep, another incorrect phone agent from Disney, as Disney likely wouldn't be releasing a general public offer by stealth without any announcements at all - it's a PIN code that your name was able to access. The only way it's not is if this CM was letting slip an offer that has yet to be released publicly and can't be booked yet.

A certain amount of hoopla has always accompanied general public free dining offers and there hasn't been any at all.

I saw a WDW commercial yesterday on TV that was advertizing a deal (as low as $93 a night, family of 4) with a QS dining plan. Don't know if the station jumped the gun on this commercial or not.

So maybe there is one coming out?

I just called and ask about how to get a pin and the CM said that i had one already on file!! She was very helpful and applied the FREE DDP to my reservation for May 2012......try asking, you never know!!!..Good Luck

I believe the only year we didn't get ANY discount was 2008, it was the year we discovered the Swan and LOVED it! We do not like staying offsite, so we liked having that option.

We have NEVER purchased the dining plan because i find we can eat cheaper our way. We share some meals and don't always eat dessert. Also, we usually eat a granola bar for breakfast and make coffee in the room.

That said, we had the free dining booked for last year the last week of May/first week of June. we had to cancel due to we were still playing catchup after my DH was let go from his job in November 2010 and didn't find another until January 2011.

I for one am happy with what we have booked for this year, Coronado Springs with the 20-25% discount. It will be the 3rd mod we try. I am hoping we love it, as so far CBR is our favorite. i could switch to the Swan for approx $400 more but i'll probably save that for food.

If the free QS comes out, i will take it and upgrade it. i have made 7 ADR's just in case. If not, we will cancel some of them and keep our favorites. no biggie, we will still be happy to be there after missing out last year.

So, i have learned to book what we can afford and hope for the best. we are POLY lovers at heart but i just can't stomach paying $2000 more for our resort anymore, even if we can afford it. The years we fell in love were buy 4 get 3 free years.

Good Luck to everyone. :thumbsup2

That commercial has been running for weeks. There has already been 2 long threads about that commerical and the price they are advertising. People are mad because it's not really a discount, pretty much full value season prices.

That commercial is also not a free dining offer. It's for a package with paid QS.

A cast member told a friend this week end that an offer (of some kind) is coming out March 1st. Time will tell

I will say the very same thing happened to me for my july trip last yr. I was told by the cm that there was a free dining offer, not a pine code (being the the good DISer I am i got all the details). Of course I checked and double check for this mysterious FD code on all the disney websites and found nothing. Im wondering if the cms can use an on going "offer" thats not made public if they think that its what the do to make the sale maybe when the numbers are low or something. You know like a used car salesman lol! :confused3

Yes, and IIRC, it's $93 per person.

Earlier tonight, I booked a room only at ASMovies + DDP with 30% military discount for June1st-8th. I asked the CM if she had any idea about any new special offers coming in March. She said she could not confirm what the next promo would be, but that it WOULD be announced on March 1st, it SHOULD include my dates and there was speculation that it would be for free dining. Whose speculation, I couldn't get out of her!

Interesting, thanks for posting! :) There's been other reports that March 1 is the date for the next promo, so this boosts my hope! I would think that we'd hear something a couple of days ahead of time on this board before something comes out....:surfweb:
