I just called to check some prices for a friend wanting to go late June. I gave all her info to the CM and asked if there were any discounts going on at that time. She checked for about 10 seconds and said, "Yes, there's a room discount and there's free dining". I had her check the price for the free dining. After she gave me the price, I asked if there was a code for the free dining and she said "No, it's just a general public offer". I asked her if I called back to book this would I need anything special, and she said I'd just need to ask for the free dining offer. It's not like she went hunting for a discount and I didn't even mention free dining. I just thought this night be helpful for those wanting the free dining. She said the dates were March 4 - June 30. :)

While I don't deny that you were told that..

This page:

Always links out to any free dining offers they have on the go.. and its not up yet.

The good news is that perhaps it will be soon. I'll be watching that closely.

The dates you listed match a PIN offer I received earlier this week for Free Dining.

I would say it is a pin offer with an unknowledgable Cm, but I would love to hear other's experience. Dh is thinking about canceling our upcoming Disney vacation for a beach/legoland/seaworld/discovery cove/busch gardens vacation, and I really want to keep it Disney, and I know free dining would do it for him.

I am really looking for the room only discount. I would love to get something that was good through June 30.

Please keep us posted if you find that is is truly a general public offer.

Yep, another incorrect phone agent from Disney, as Disney likely wouldn't be releasing a general public offer by stealth without any announcements at all - it's a PIN code that your name was able to access. The only way it's not is if this CM was letting slip an offer that has yet to be released publicly and can't be booked yet.

A certain amount of hoopla has always accompanied general public free dining offers and there hasn't been any at all.

I called about 30 minutes ago and the CM told me their systems were down and she couldn't access any special offers. Maybe they are updating with a new offer? Our luck it is probably regularly scheduled maintenance.

OP here...
Canadianguy - Thanks, that's where I went right after hanging up the phone and didn't see anything. I thought I'd post anyway since I didn't ask for anything specific, just what discounts would work with the dates and she said "general public" FD. :confused3

TDC Nala - I was checking for a friend and used all her info. She is very new to Disney and she hasn't so much as been to the DW site. She's heard me talk about it for years, but could never get her DH on board. He finally agreed to look into it and she called me for help. I guess it's possible it was a PIN, but without her info being in the system, I don't know how that would be....? Anything's possible. :)

Most likely your friend has a pin code for free dining attached to their name in the Disney computer system. There are no general public free dining offers for June, and I highly doubt that there will be. Disney TAs usually get the "heads up" on discounts like free dining a few days before it goes public and those dates and codes will usually spread like wildfire on the internet over those few days before a code is released. There hasn't even been a hint or a rumor of any general public free dining offers coming out for June. This is a simple case of a Disney CM not knowing the basic facts - happens all the time.

The August/September free dining dates should be released in the next 6 to 8 weeks, if Disney goes by the free dining schedule they have gone by for the last 8 years. Here is a link that has free dining booking info and past free dining dates and released dates:

Yes, it is very odd that she would have received a true PIN if she has never registered. Is it possible that she HAS registered on some other type of Disney site, such as Disney Channel, Disney Store, Disney Movie Rewards, etc?

I got that pin - well my mom and my SIL both got it in my email address :confused3 It is for free dining QS for mods and values, DDP for deluxe resorts. QS is until 5/31 and DDP until 6/30.

She says she's absolutely sure she has not registered at any Disney site. I don't know what the deal is, but it's just odd that someone would get a PIN without any connection to the Disney site(s). Who knows....

My DMil who is 78 years old gets pin #'s all the time via snail mail and has never so much as touched a computer,or ever been to Disney. My thought has always been it has something to do with where she lives as it is a very affluent small town in Connecticut and Disney must target certain demographics for mailing pin #.

Interesting, maybe it's something like that for her......My brain is tired from trying to figure out the how, what or why of the Disney reservation system.:headache:

More to the point, does she subscribe to any magazines?

Does she have cable or internet, or satellite?

Disney is known to buy or access lists of subscribers to certain things as certain ones would be considered 'target rich' for Disney vacations.

They make offers to these classes of non-Disney customers as part of the mailout for the 'returning' customers.
