Just bought at Saratoga When can I go?

I bought at Saratoga Spring and the Contract was approved today. I would like to go to Disney in April. My guide said I wouldn't be able to go until September. That is my Use Year. She said something about that the Unit is not available until then. I will wait if I have to but, in the Purchase Agreement, line 19 Reservations Prior to Conveyance of Ownership interest mentioned that it was possible for some to reserve before their use year. Do you know anything about this. Would that apply to us (buying at Saratoga)? Thank you in advance for your response.

Basically, if you took the $10 per point incentive, then you cannot use points until September. If you opted to take the developer's points in leiu of the $10 per point offer, then you should be able to make ressies at another resort.

You can reserve at SSR using your points now, for travel after September....

You may want to call your guide & he/she can explain it all to you.

You referenced two different things in your post....travel time & reservation time. They are not the same thing.

You can't stay at a DVC resort until you have points. That's why no trips before September.

But you can reserve at your home up to 11 months before the checkout date of your trip, assuming you will have points by the time you take your trip.

You don't need points in hand in order to book a reservation.

Now I don't know if there is something at a new resort like SSR that shortens that 11 month window as they roll out new buildings, but if not then you should be in good shape.

Assuming that there's nothing unusual due to this being a new resort, then if you're in the DVC system and have a member number, you can reserve at SSR today for any trip that comes between September 1 and December 24.

DVC is currently selling SSR points, though those builidngs aren't ready for occupancy. Since the occupancy on those buildings is delayed (Looks like the building you own in is opening in September), DVC is offering incentives to buy in. You either get the choice of $10 off your purchase price, or an equal number of developers points to use by September of this year. If you choose the $10 off, you can not use any DVC points until after September 2005. If you took the developers points, you can use those to book a DVC stay, but not at SSR.

You can borrow points for stays after your use year begins, in the OP's situation her stay would have to begin after September 1st. You can't book a stay before your use year starts, regardless of borrowing.

Thank you for all your responses. In the contract on the Purchase agreement their is a paragraf called "Reservations Prior to Conveyance of Ownership Interest" (in my case March 22, with Use Year September). I called Disney and asked about that. I was very surprised to hear that I was able to get an advance on my point as long as they were use after March 22. I happily call back the same day and made reservations for May. Which mean I am coming home before my time. Happy, Happy time.

On a new contract for SSR, if you take the incentive, you cannot borrow points from the next year's allotment, but, you can get an advance of the next years points for stays that begin after your building opens and before your first use year begins. My guide stated that it is called advancing points and not borrowing. Just semantics but this might confuse MS when you try to book your first stay.

It is my understanding that the closing date is more relevant than the beginning of the use year, IE our closing is May 3rd, however use yr begins June 1st. In theory we could stay any day after May 3rd, however we would be borrowing the points from our June 1st use yr.

I was able to make a ressie earlier this month (for a stay in June), even though we don't close til May 3rd.

When I talked to the MS, she was a little confused, but when I explained to her what Disney has told me (mentioned above). She continued with no problem. She used the word borrowing while I was using advancing, but that's ok. We got to the same place and now we are going May 23 for 8 nites. I am so happy With this weather I coulndn't have waited util September. GO DISNEY

Woohoo! Margarita you rock! We got our ressies for May 29 - June 1, an advance on our points for our first use year! Thanks so much for the info! I told our guide about it today and she was confused on it but glad we got it.
