Just booked the most expensive tickets to WDW I have ever had

My DH and myself are lucky enough to be going to WDW for a long weekend in October to celebrate our Anniversary at the F&W festival.

I have always been able to get one way tickets for no more than $100 one way.

I just booked at $134 one way. It is with SW. They ended up being the cheapest and also had the best times. I will keep an eye on it and get a credit when we go back in April. Something tells me I am going to get sticker shock paying the April vacation fares. Maybe we should rethink the whole going during April vacation thing.

With all the talk of rising gas prices I thought it best to book now. Ifi the prices go up, I will be so grateful. If they go down I will just get a credit. I booked two one way fares so I could get a credit is one leg goes down. Guess that's like pre-paying part of our April trip.

I also paid the most I've ever paid to fly to Disney on Monday via Southwest.

I also paid $134 each way for a total of $289.

The most I've ever paid was $177 in 2006. Last year prices were so high and I was on such a tight budget that I took Amtrak down.

Why is SW so much cheaper on the east coast than the midwest? Our cheapest ticket right now from Milwaukee is $134 there and the cheapest return is $140 with 2 stops! We are waiting for Airtran's rates and if they are too high we are going to fly into Tampa and drive.

If I could get flights for $134 each way I would be dancing for joy. We just had a price drop of about that much per person (round trip) for our May visit and still are paying more than $134 each way.

If your fare goes down and you rebook, your credits will be good for one year from your purchase date. You can use the credit for travel that will be completed by the expiration date so the credit will not be good for travel in April 2012.

Once the credit expires you can re-enable it (for 6 months? a year? not sure) by paying $50. You can only do that after it expires however so you would have to wait until this time next year to do that.

AirTran only has our flight for the way down published at $109. But, we would have to pay $6 for seats and pay for a checked bag. Flights for the way back weren't published yet so we went for SW. The flight price difference from what I booked and yours is only $6 though.

Thankfully we booked our airfare for our Aug. trip last Sept. We got round trip non-stops from Hartford to MCO for $179 including all taxes and fees. I checked the other day and the prices for the same flight was well over $220 now.

I thought ours was bad, we are paying $341 per person RT on SW from Chicago (in June). Luckily I got one free flight, otherwise I might have to medicate myself.

This is also the most we have ever paid.

You're right. I think we paid north of $450 RT for our flights 3/18-3/27.

But that doesn't always work. I'm going to a family reunion in Arizona. I waited too long to book. So now I"m doing complicated things (that get me more time with immediate family, but still) involving getting to CA, driving with family to so cal, driving to AZ etc.

While looking at flights home, I found a flight on SW from the Bay Area that was $79. It went from San Jose to Phoenix to Seattle.

The SAME flight number, same time, same day, that just went from Phoenix to Seattle, cost MORE than twice that $79. What?

I cracked up over that and then started looking in other directions to get us home...

I don't think its that bad. The prices are likely going UP not down, IMHO. If you look at the actual price breakdown, the Taxes are a Big portion.......
