Just booked our 2nd cruise! Have you tried this one?

We're going on a 5-night next summer with two stops at Castaway Cay. Our only other DCL experience was to Alaska last year, so I know this will be different. We have cruised to the Bahamas before, but it was on Carnival. Any tips? Will there be a formal night? What do you wish you'd done differently?

A 5 night cruise typically has a "Dress Up Optional" night. Not an actual "formal" night.

Congratualtions! Two stops at CC sounds like a lot of fun. I was thinking of trying that out at some point or doing a back 2 back and hitting CC twice that way.

We are also on a 5 day double dip at CC next year. Compared to Alaska, you will be on a much bigger ship. That's twice as many people, though you likely won't know the difference except in a few things. I don't think they have an official formal night, though the Disney Cruise site only addresses a 4 night cruise. However, normally on cruises less than 7 nights it is "optional dress up" and the term optional is key. You will have a range of shorts and sandals to tuxedos. Kind of weird to see, but works pretty well. Castaway Cay is an awesome experience and worth doing twice in a week. You can look at their activities or just enjoy a nice day at the beach. Nassau has mixed opinions and you can probably find a lot on these forums.

The two stops there was the major draw. We didn't want to splurge on a 7 night since we just did one last year (and loved it!) and we'll also be doing WDW a few months after that, so a 5 night was a great way to get a longer cruise, but not break the bank.

I'm looking forward to seeing the difference in the ships. I've already checked out the port adventures - nothing like a year in advance lol! I've been to Nassau twice - once with my parents and once with my husband. This will be the first time for my kids to go, so we might do something there for them, but I'm not overly enamored with the city. We're just as likely to show them a little bit of the area and then spend the day on the ship.
