I just booked a 4 nite Sept. 26 sailing in a cat.6 gar. stateroom.... when will we know our cabin # and what happens now? We sailed last Oct. in a cat. 6 midship and loved our trip. Our little girl was 4 and so enjoyed the kids club... do you think she will do alright with the 5-7 group?( She will be one of the youngest).
We had to take the late dining assignment so we will be eating late but our daughter will probably want to go play with the kids while we dine.
Should we be concerned about he weather?
Any advice or suggestions from those who have booked last minute?
Thank you and bless your heart for your help!:sunny:

Once you get on board, it's possible to request a change to early seating. If you've been wait listed for early seating, you're much more likely to get changed to early seating by requesting once on board (if it hasn't changed since last year, you go to the same place you request Palo reservarions).

Don't worry about the weather.

You will get the info when you check in about where to go for reservations, dining changes, etc. You can always request a change to early seating if you'd like.

First, you are not a "last minute" booking. My record "last minute" was 48 hours before sailing--seriously. You will probably know your cabin assignment when you get your docs. If you booked thru DCL, you can go to their web site and check for assignment daily. Usually, once they do an assignment, it doesn't change; however, with gty it technically can change until boarding.

My DD has been in every age assignment except the 3-4s. Seriously, she was in the 7-8s on the maiden voyage (I know, the age groups have changed since then), and has moved up to our most recent cruise when she turned 13 on the ship and loved the Stack. Her all time favorite group was in the Oceaneer's Club....so I suspect your DD will like it as well.

The weather the last week of September is generally warm and sunny. It is hurricane season which sometimes causes the ship to alter course. The key here is to be flexible. You'll have a great cruise even if you have a different port of call than you'd planned. When this happens, the crew really hustles to arrange shore excursions, etc. Guess we've been lucky as in 6 Sept. cruises, we've always made it to Castaway.

You didn't say how you booked--DCL or otherwise. In any event, what happens next is that you can book shore excursions if desired. You can do that now, but don't have to. Early in Sept., you'll get your documents. If you booked thru DCL, they will come directly to you. If you booked thru a TA, they will go first to the TA and be forwarded to you. Most likely, your docs will have your cabin assignment printed on them (check the luggage tags.) If it changes, it will only go up in category, not down. Then you pack, then you cruise.......and eat...and sun, swim, and enjoy!

Another point about the kids club. If your DD doesn't seem tofit well with the 5-7's, she can probably be moved down to the 3-4's. Just talk to a counselor. Besides, the 3-4's and 5-7's do a lot of activities together in the club. She will be just fine.

Have a wonderful time.

Thanks for the info. and by the way I did book w/ DCL. It will be nice to know where our cabin is... praying for mid-ship:angel: :boat:
Is it possible to get on a waiting list for early seating? May just leave as -is and enjoy the new experience!

We just booked the same cruise. I am very excited! Last August we booked a cruise less than a week prior to sailing. We ended up getting a handicap room. It was so nice and big.

This will be our 3rd cruise and our 3rd with late dinner. We have not had a problem with it so far.

Our cruise will be here before you know it!

We are sailing on the 26th too! Will have two 11 year old boys (son and his friend) and our 5 year old daughter. We booked rather late, too, and are assigned second seating. I was frantic to change it but after reading the many posts that support second seating I think we are going to give it a try!

I have been wondering, when you book at the last minute do you get a lower rate because they want to sell out the cruise? We had to cancel our 10/02/04 cruise due to unfortunate circumstances we couldn't come up with final payment. Even though my heart breaks at this, I'm still in hopes that we will be able to rebook before they set sail. I'm in the "Disney mode" now and I'm doing everything possible to make that cruise!!

Ours for 3 was about $2,300... w/o transfers really doesn't seem discounted...
but will sure be worth it when we are sitting on the verandah...:love2:
