You may all think I am mad, but I am going back to WDW in February. This may not seem an odd thing to declare on a Disney dedicated website, but (wait for it) I am going for a week on my own without DH & kids!

It's my 40th birthday present to myself, my birthday being 6th February. It is during term time and I really wanted to mark the date itself by going somewhere. I originally wanted to go to N.Y. for a weekend with DH, but he isn't keen on the idea of going to a big smelly city - after all (he said) we are not that far from London! (As if you could compare the two  ). The boys really (actually) rather like sandy beach holidays and are not terribly terribly terribly into "Disney" (Saying that, they did LOVE our trip this summer).

DH is very happy to look after the boys while I am away (seven days) as long as I don't mind him disappearing for a week with his brother to go somewhere like France in June. Fine by me!

SNAP!!! Well not actually me, but we are going to WDW in February with our friends - and the hubby will also be celebrating his 40th birthday on the 6th!!!

I think it sounds like a great idea - I'd loved to visit WDW by myself and do exactly what I want!!

Have a wonderful trip - may see you around!!

we are going in february!! I think it sounds like a great idea as a birthday present for yourself, happy birthday for february!!
We are celebrating out there too cos we are getting married there!
Might see u!!

WOW!!!!!!!!!!! (Becky and Annette)

I am meeting up with a couple of people/families while I am out there from another Disney website but still haven't been able to arrange a date for the 6th. Becky - what are you doing on that day?

If anyone wants to meet up, let me know. I will be in MK on the 4th (seeing someone for lunch) and will be spending several days in WDW and two days in US/IOA. Planning on breakfast at Boma's on the 5th with someone else.

We arrive on the 5th. Staying the night at the Crown Plaza Orlando Airport and then shuttling down to OKW on the 6th, where we stay put until we leave on the 17th. Somehow on the 6th we have to get our friend over to AKL without him realising he is going to be checking in for the night!!! His wife and I are plotting together!!!

Yes - she will try to sort something out. Somehow we've just got to get it over to AKL without him seeing, otherwise it could be a bit of a giveaway!!! Any suggestions?!

I have seen your post on the other (cough, cough) board!!! So have you actually got anything planned for THE DAY yet?

I'll try and say hello as I get dragged from ride to ride through the Disney Parks by my litte monsters, I mean loving children :)

Hope you enjoy your trip and have to admit that I secretly look forward to the days when my wife and I can go somewhere like Disney without the kids. Then again, I bet when that time comes I'll be wishing I was younger!

I originally thought going to Jellyrolls on the evening of my birthday would be good and if they happened to spot my "40 today" badge, then that might be fun. But I was warned by MikeJones that they'll haul you up on top of the piano and get you to do the actions for "I'm a little teapot"!! So I may give that a miss!! Definitely want to visit Jellyrolls (discretely!) and Pleasure Island. Have planned to meet up with a couple of other people so far (but they can't make it for my birthday). Still open to offers!

AndRu - I'll wave to you if you wave to me!

Sounds like a much better idea to do Jellyrolls incognito!!!!

I wish I had more idea of what we were doing on the 6th - I'd love to meet up, and hate the thought of you celebrating your birthday on your own. But we've got to check in to OKW - and have no idea what time our room will be ready. We also have to get over to AK and AKL sometime in the afternoon, and will probably stay until our two little girls get cranky - so then we have to get them to bed!!

Keep in touch about this - I'm sure we can arrange something, if a (much!)better offer doesn't come along for you in the meantime!!!

we don't land until the 10th, I'm sure you will have a good day though whatever you do!! Hopefully it's going to be sunny ????

We are bringing 50 people with us so we are going to fill the place!!

Annette, you are going to have a blast! You are so lucky getting married there. I would have loved that but I don't think my DH would have agreed. Are you going to do a "trip report" when you get back and post loads of pictures?

Becky, will definitely keep in touch.

Well done, Zoe, I think you'll have a brilliant time at WDW, you can always do NY another time!!! I think its really important to mark your 40th if you can, we took our first family holiday (to Cornwall!) for my 40th and it was fantastic.

You'll be able to be really selfish and do exactly as you like without having to consider the rest of your family! Happy planning!

Elaine

Thanks Elaine. My mother thinks I've had some sort of mental breakdown and now thinks I'm an alien or something! Glad that I have the support of people like you.

I'm really looking forward to it now!!!! I will do a trip report when we get back although i will probably have to keep a diary out there to remember everything!!

Ware Bears - I live in Cornwall!!! Did you have a good time when you were on holiday!
