Just booked our 1st ever cruise (4 days-Feb 2004). we are in a catagory 7(was classified as a 5) with a verandah. With the rebates and onboard credits it comes to $1477(no ins yet) for 2 adults. It is stateroom 7120. I am surprising my wife for x-mas of 2003, she doesn't know about this. Is this a good area of the ship? Any advice or comments from you experts:) would be appreciated.

I don't know if it's a good deal or not but I'm wondering how in the world you're going to keep this a secret for 15months(Christmas 2003). I would be bursting to tell!

We had 7124 on our 7 Day Magic Cruise. Room was great. Our son was 5 at the time and I strongly preferred the Navigators Verandah to the fully open ones. Less chance of him falling over (not that he spent any time alone out there).

A descripion of 7124:

As you entered, there was a good sized reach in closet on behind the door which also contained the safe.

On the left was 2 half baths. The first was a toilet and sink. The second was a tub/shower and another sink. This allowed me to shave while my wife showered.

Next came the king bed with night stands. Across from it was a "trunk" which was really a dresser.

Then came a drawable curtain. There was a good size sleeper/sofa on one wall. Opposite it was the TV, Fridge, desk and closed storage / drawers.

Then there was the sliding doors to the verandag which had built in benches and a table. Nice size (4') opening.

We loved it and are already are planning our 2004 cruise!

Hope this helps. I have pictures of our cruise if you want.

We sailed a 7 night Eastern in February and the weather was pretty good (one night the outer decks were closed due to wind). Temperatures were decent (it's always hot near the Equator!).

I echo the sentiment - how are you ever going to keep this a secret?! My hat is off to you!!!!!

Happy sailing!

Thanks for the help. I may have to tell my wife on her birthday on May 7,2003.;)

Mojomanny,
I would appreciate some pictures if you can, send them to

Correction is we have cabin 7624, not 7124.

Update is we are now booked for cabin 7624 for 2-14-2004! This is the Western Carribean. Let the countdown begin!

Ncligs,

I love this area of the ship! You are very close to the aft "secret deck" and just 2 flights directly up is the 24 hour coffee station. I love being able to get my coffee and go back to my room in the morning to enjoy it out on the veranda!

mojomanny,

Had you been in 7124 we would have been next door neighbors for the 2004 cruise!

I hope you had them mail the confirmation notice somewhere other then your house if you are trying to surprise DW. If not you may need to call them back and change it.
Good luck....I don't think i could keep quiet that long !!!

UPDATE............for Feb 22,2004 cruise.

I did find out that this room 7120 does have an obstructed view verandah:( , so I called my TA Cathy, and had it changed to catagory 6 (6076) with full verandah. I figured it was worth the $200 difference.
I am going to tell my wife about this cruise on her birthday (May 7th). And I do have the confirmation going to my brothers address, and any other updates to my e-mail address.
I appreciate all the help and advice here.;)
