Just booked Fantasy-worried about pool size

From a lap swimmer, what time of day would you suggest going to swim laps in Quiet Cove? Also, I'd like to know if there are any swimmers (and I mean SWIMMERS) who would suggest swimming laps at ANY time during the day on Wonder? If Quiet Cove isn't really made for lap swimming, no biggie... I won't pack my cap and goggles. But if there's a possibility that I can get in in the early morning and swim some laps easily without killing my ankles, or without swimming one stroke and then needing to flip, then I will. Any swimmers out there who've tried and been successful with that endeavor?

No way you can swim laps, on any of the ships...we have a 40 foot pool and swim laps daily when the water warms up...I'm only 5'7 and could not make 3-4 strokes in any of the pools, not worth it. But, you might consider visiting certain resorts on the port excursions that do have nice lap pools! Many resorts will let you use their pools if you buy drinks/food there..and some just let you come without paying anything....

I think it would have been a great idea to have an 'endless' pool for lap swimming in the spa area..they do not take up a great deal of space, but I'm sure there are reasons why they don't have them....

I thought about doing the excursions that take you to a pool, but I was also afraid that the pools on those excursions would be overrun with kids and swimming laps there would be impossible as well. Plus, I'd rather swim in the early hours so I'm not "wasting the day away" swimming laps (it IS our honeymoon, so I'm gonna have to spend time with FH at some point too ;)). So, I'm not sure how I feel about doing the "pool party" excursions that take you to the swimming pools - mainly because I doubt I'd be able to lap swim with so many kids around.

I'll probably bring my goggles and stuff "just in case." If it turns out that I can't, then I can't. No big deal. I'm sure I'll find other ways to enjoy the trip! ;)

The pictures were on the Disney Cruise website, but now just have the static pages.

interesting....:rolleyes1 This is what is printed on the bottom of the "quiet cove" page for the Fantasy.....
."Disney Cruise Line is currently putting the finishing touches on Quiet Cove Pool. Be sure to check back here soon to discover even more of the magic that's in store for you and your entire family during a one-of-a-kind Disney cruise vacation"
This makes me hopeful that they'll at least attempt to make it a little better than the Dream's layout. :goodvibes Hmmm...

My opinion of the pools is this... any cruise ship only has so much space on its top deck. There is no way to make pools big enough for 1000 people... let alone 2700 or 4000. I think they added some great improvements with the dream pools. First hey added Nemos sprinkler area for younger kids, the Mickey slide empties into its own slide.. not into the pool, and they have the aquaduck that gives people a "wet" experience. We did a back to back and my dd rode the aquaduck at least 10 times... you just have to realize that 2pm on sea day, there are going to be a ton of people at the pool. If you really want to spend alot of time at a pool, add a couple days onto your cruise and stay at a resort... or do an excursion at a hotel like Atlantis. Then on sea day you can do enjoy some less crowded activities like movies, mini golf, plays, ect....

Congratulations on the honeymoon!! No! I would not do a Disney excursion, go to tripadvisor or other cruise forums where they have reviews on resorts...and definitely choose a resort where you Disney does NOT go, there will be fewer people..what is nice is you can book a resort that has massage/spa onsite, both of you could enjoy poolside and get couples massages....there are many options!

It says the same thing on the dining and entertainment pages as well so maybe it doesn't mean much? I am extremely hopeful that they are addressing the pool size though. That's been my one persistent reservation about our April 2012 sailing. I understand that we'll have to expect crowds no matter how big but the reports of the Dream pools have been pretty lousy. *fingers crossed they're working on it*

Honestly, I don't swim much in the pool, if at all. The one thing I was VERY disappointed in hearing was that there wasn't any seating/deck chairs around the adult pool. If they just remedy that, I'd be happy. Optimally, I think the adult pool area & teen pool area should've been switched. I mean really...do teenagers really NEED a place secluded & away from everyone? That shouldve been a quiet secluded area of the ship for adults only.

We've been on 20+ cruises and never have had a pool all that large on a cruiseship...Disney or any other.

I bet when they dry dock, they'll probably take care of SOME of these issues. Would switching the teen pool and the adult pool make sense? Or would it take more than a sign swap?

Also, I've been all over the Disney site, and the Dream maps and haven't seen a teen pool. Where is it and what's it called?

THere are deck chairs at the adult pool, they are all under the deck above. If you want sun, you go up to the next level, it is also part of the adults only are.

The teen pool is forward of the teen club Vibe, I think it is on deck 5.

That's what I mean about the chairs. I like to sit in the sun & when I get too warm, take a quick dip, then go back to my chair :). Having to go up & down the stairs everytime would kind of stink. Don't get me wrong, it would in no way ruin my cruise or anything:rotfl:. It'd just be nice if the chairs were closer :thumbsup2

We were on the Dream in March and have also booked the Fantasy. About a month ago, the pictures of the pool on the Fantasy had the same pictures as the pool on the Dream, but they have since been taken down. So I called and they said that they received a lot of feedback on the Dream (they wouldn't say specifically what areas), and they were taking them into consideration as they built the Fantasy. I assume that the reason the pool pictures were taken down were to make changes.

I was on the April 17th Dream and can confirm that they are adding more water areas to the Fantasy. At the Castaway Club reception I spoke to one of the officers who did confirm that there would be changes to the Fantasy with regards to the pools.

My cruise was kind of unique in that we were supposed to have a sea day but wound up with a double dip so I did not really see how crowded the pools would be on a sea day due the fact that the Aquaduck broke on the first Castaway Cay day and they didn't think they would have it fixed. When I first saw the adult pool I was not thrilled but I did wind up enjoying very much. Overall we had an amazing cruise and I am very excited to be on the maiden voyage of the Fantasy.:cool1:
