Just booked CSR...watch out for WDTC!!

I called CRO to make ressies for CSR for March and apparently got rolled over to WDTC because I was quoted a price a little higher than expected, about $150 higher! Turns out the CM was trying to give me insurance in case I cancel and told me I have to have my full balance in 45 days before check-in! And whatever changes I made would be assessed anywhere from a $10-50 charge! YIKES!
I then had to insist that I just visited in October and had paid my balance upon check-in, deposit in 14 days of reservation, and that's what I wanted again. She had to go back in and rebook it (I guess through CRO) and it ended up being CHEAPER that way, about $15, GO FIGURE!
Just keep an eye out when you make ressies everyone and make sure you do your calculations with tax before you call.
 
I always politely hang up if WDTC answers the phone. I will only book through CRO. The last time I made a reservation I had to hand up because the Travel company answered.
 
I just use DreamsUnlimited and then I don't have to deal with it:D
 

When I called they answered "Walt Disney World Travel Company...etc." I told them I had the wrong number and called back. Sometimes WDTC gets overflow calls from CRO and they pick up. I think that is what happened in my case.

Thank you epcotfan for the link. We will be staying at the CSR in a few days and I haven't seen too many posts regarding this resort.

From your pictures it looks like a very nice resort and it has a lot to offer. Can't wait to see it.

There is no need to hang up and make another long distance call. If the phone is answered "Walt Disney Travel Company" just tell them that you were calling CRO and you want to book with the 5 day cancellation policy. They just need to bring up the CRO system. I had no problem booking my room only AP rate at CSR for Feb 2003 with all of the right policies. You just need to tell them upfront what cancellation policy you want after they answer the phone "Walt Disney Travel Company".
 
so let me see if I understand this right. There is two different cancelation policies between CRO and WDTC and possibly two different prices?

yes, there are two cancellation policies. The price difference is the WDTC usually adds a "free" mini golf or Wide world of sports admission on the "package".

Just to clarify this point a little:

You only have a choice when booking room only reservations as these can be booked through either system. WDTC CM's can book through either system while CRO CM's can only book through CRO.

All other reservations have restrictions as to which computer system can book them and you (nor the CM taking the reservation) cannot change it. Examples are DC discounts (must done through WDTC) and AP rates (Must be CRO). Anything with codes are also restricted depending on the code (3 letter codes are CRO and 4 letter codes are WDTC) and cannot be changed to the other system no matter how nice you ask or how many times you call back.
