Hi Everyone,

I just booked our trip for next Feb/Mar (the week following Pres week). We are staying at BWV in a preferred view studio. I wanted to get a Boardwalk view, but those were booked. This is our first time staying at BWV.

I was originally thinking that I wanted a Boardwalk view first and if that wasn't available, then I didn't want to "waste" the points on the preferred view and just get a standard view. The standard view is also booked.

My big (loaded) question is, will we be happy in that room location? I was really excited to have a view of the Boardwalk and now I feel that the preferred view is kind of a let down. Any suggestions for what to request for the preferred view?

Also, I have been put on the waiting list for a Boardwalk view. Do you think I have a good chance of the wait list coming thru?

Thanks for any opinions, advice, and/or suggestions.

You can also request a Village Green view studio, which will give you a partial boardwalk view (the grass area near the boat dock).

We own at BWV and I always book either boardwalk view or standard view at the 11 month mark........the other views look nice as well
As far as the wait list my brother wanted a boardwalk view he owns at BCV he called at 7 months and went on the wait list it never came through

We love BWV and are happy with any view there. Check out the TR in my signature for our BWV trip in April.

You will. Last time, after a Boardwalk view room we werent happy with we wound up with a preferred view room. Our room happened to be a view of the courtyard just off the lobby - which if you get at Christmas time is FANTASTIC because its like your own private Christmas tree and you can sort of see/hear whats going on on the boardwalk. My favorite memory from our last trip was sitting on our balcony and hearing another guest yell to her family from the lobby balcony "I CANT FIND MY ROOM! - great for people watching!

Thanks for the comments. I didn't know about the Village Green request. Sounds good...I'll make that request and still hope for our Boardwalk view waitlist to come thru.

For those of you that have stayed in the preferred view rooms, do you think it's still worth the extra points versus a standard view room? I just think that the "cool" thing about BWV is seeing the boardwalk, and if we can't see the boardwalk, then might as well save the points and get a standard view room.

Don't get me wrong...we are very excited about staying at BWV, no matter what room we're in.

Thanks again to everyone for your comments!

Evan - I would definitely feel that a preferred view was a huge letdown. I book boardwalk view. If I don't have that, I don't want to be there - there are other great choices outside of BWV. The last place I'd want to be is overlooking that hideous clown pool, or stuck behind a tree!

I've never had a problem getting boardwalk view at 7 months but I recently added points at BWV so as dvc keeps getting bigger I don't have to worry about 7 months becoming a problem. Whenever there's something going on at Epcot, I only want to be at BWV or BCV....I'll save the other resorts for other trips.

That's what I'm thinking...

But, we've never stayed at BWV before, so I think we will be happy with whatever we get (but hopefully our wait list will come thru).

Thanks for the comments!

The only time we've stayed at BWV, we had a preferred view that overlooked a "quiet pool" over to the canal that goes to DHS and the Swan and Dolphin. It was very nice - quiet w/ something to look at. I'd be perfectly happy with that again.

Remember that preferred view at Boardwalk - with its varied views - is the same number of points as looking at the road at BCV or the dumpster at VWL.

All resorts have rooms that are better and worse.

I would ask for Village Green, I wouldn't set yourself up for disappointment - there are very few rooms there and they are a very popular request.

I am staying in a preferred view next week, so I will give you a follow up! We just booked it about a month ago, so I was happy to get 5 nights. We are in a 1 BR. I was on the WL for the Boardwalk view, but it didn't come through and our waitlist cancels out I think tomorrow.

I think only about 20% of the rooms are BWV, and they are the most in demand so it's probably unlikely that it would come through. However, you have a lot more time than I did so your probability is greater than mine.

FWIW,

We had a Boardwalk View studio the last time we stayed at WDW. I was so excited. However, the people below us decided it was a good idea to smoke the smelliest cigars out on ther balcony. It made it impossible to enjoy our balcony. We couldn't even have the sliding glass door open. After repeated calls down to the front desk, the smoking finally stopped - or they checked out - we never found out. Unfortunately, our vacation was nearly over.

So, long story short - enjoy the resort, family, parks etc - don't have your vacation ruined by having a bad view because even with the best view, things may not be all rosy. :)
