I just booked Airtran and Have never flown with them. Will this be a mistake?
Are they pretty much on time, and has anyone had any major problems with them? Any insight would be much appreciated.

Thanks

My sister in law flies them all the time. She's a TA, so I figure they can't be too bad.

We have flown AirTran several times out of Pittsburgh and NEVER had an issue with them. Our DD goes to University of Central Florida and also Uses either Air Tran or now that they are in Pittsburgh Southwest to go between PA and Florida. USAIR is the only airline we try and avoid nowdays as I am affraid I will have something booked and they will finally decide to give it up with all the stuff going on with them I am just to unsure of what they may do.
I think you made a good choice with Airtran their rates are good and so was their service when I have used them.

I usually fly AirTran when I fly. I've never had a problem. In fact, last summer I flew home from vacation with my very autistic DS10 and my DD12. I was injured and my knee was in a brace, and I was on crutches. What a mess! AirTran sent a little guy with a wheelchair to meet me at the gate--I didn't even have to ask! He wheeled me with my kids in tow to the baggage claim area, helped us load th baggage onto a cart and took us all the way to the transportation area and helped us all onto our bus. :thumbsup2 And THAT's why I like AirTran.

I just booked Airtran with a good rate for May. I love Airtran. They fly direct and have never had any problems with them. I use them everytime I fly to MCO. I have never had any delays nor problems with luggage!! :thumbsup2

We flew Airtran in December to Disney and i had no problems whats so ever.
I loved the way you can get your boarding pass beforehand and even pick your seats!

the plane was ontime with no problems.

I just got my Airtran frequent flier card and i would love to use it for our next disney trip in Sept- if i can get a good price!

I dont think you made a mistake!

Thanks so much for all of the great information. I feel alot better now. I live in Knoxville and since Independence went out of business we can no longer get any good air rates. We will have to drive to Atlanta, but that is ok 2 1/2
hours is much better than 12 hours to drive. I tried several times to fly with Southwest but every ding was already sold out for my days in March. :wave2:

Absolutely no complaints here...have flown them many many times in the past. All good experiences.

I'd rather take Air Tran than Usairways here in Phila because the Usairways terminal is a zoo at sercurity and Air Tran is a breeze to get through. No lines.
I have always had a good experience with them. Do not hesitate.
Also, if you book your reservation with a travel agent, we can pre-assign seats when you purchase your ticket!

You can check in on-line 24 hours before flight time & get seat assignment/print out boarding passes.

We switched from USAir a few years ago because of their financial woes & AT's lower prices.

For a budget carrier, they're not too bad. We've had a couple problems:

1) Lost luggage issue (which they initially denied, then recanted when luggage was found @ another customer's house a month later). Of course, we're enjoying our comp'd tixs;) .

2) They fiddle with departures out of MCO quite a bit w/o always sending an email notification (although they insist every reservation gets one).

Despite the negative issues, we've signed up for rewards program (enjoyed the Wendy's cup flight vouchers) and also got one of their CC's that I'm earning miles on monthly (and paying off monthly).

Still, I'm awaiting a Ding SW fare for June & will cancel scheduled flights/vouchers if one becomes available. We had to work our June travel around blackout dates & I really didn't want to shorten our trip.

Good luck.

I have flown with them at least 8 times and knock on wood they were very good. I will agree with the above post that they will change flight times and not tell you. This has happened to me, but I always look at what there schedule is doing so it was never a problem. My flight times shifted on a couple of flights, but not by more the 45 min and I never got a e-mail or phone call. I am currently booked with Airtran for our June trip.

We just flew AirTran for the first time 1/31-2/7 NS/RT from IND to MCO. I was very impressed with the airline. Clean plane, nice employees and both flights arrived early at our destinations. They did change our flight time home by about 30 minutes, but we were notified well in advance of our trip.

Mickeysooner a few word of advice. If you are flying out of Atlanta on a Monday or Saturday please make sure even if you have your boarding passes that you check in or be at the airport 2 hours before your flight. I'm an airline employee and Atlanta is infamous for long check in and security lines. And I highly reccomend you print your boarding pass and get seat assignments before your flight. Then if you want, you can check your bags curbside and you only have to worry about security. Don't want any bad experiences ruining your magical trip! :goodvibes An I agree with the other posters schedule changes are a :headache:

we use Airtran all the time now from PHL . We were waiting for May flights and they just weren't coming so we booked Southwest for $39 each way for May 4 to 12. Sorry AIRTRAN we'll be back for OCT trip if you come out faster then SW with good fares.

We have used Air Tran many times and always were happy with them.

We flew Air Trans once and never will fly them again. Our flight down was fine with no problems. On the way back there was bad weather in Atlanta so we were very late getting in and missed our connection to Newark. It was now 8:00 pm on Saturday. They told us the next flight they could get us on was Tuesday evening!!!!! I can understand a problem with the weather and having to stay over night but they expected us to stay for 3 days in Atlanta when DH had to go back to work and DS had to go back to school Monday morning. They offered no apologies and the best we could do was get a flight to Baltimore Tuesday morning and drive home. They refused to reimburse any of our additional expenses due to their inability to get us to our final destination in a timely manner.

We will NEVER fly Air Tran again.
