Just got to tell you what a waste of 2 hour of my life that was.

The storyline was all over the place. Colin Farrell had a stupid false sounding accent. The way it was shot was dark and dingy and could have been anywhere not sure it was Miami. It was overly violent and sometimes i thought they were talking a foreign language

Next time we go to the cinema i'm going to choose the film ;)

I hear the reviews today and they said it was quite violent, not like the tv show then, think I'll give it a miss, thanks for the advice

I saw it last night and I have to . . . . . agree.

Michael Mann has tried very hard to get away from the TV series that he created and make something "arty" for the 21st century. If he'd added an "F" it would be about right. The quote "love" scenes with Farrel and the lady are awful - it was like being in the same room as your mum and dad kissing. You know it happens but you don't need to see it.

The dialog was dire; most of the (infrequent) conversations between Farrel and Foxx were reduced to grunts, nods and tapping fists together whilst different variations of Linkin Parks "Numb" played in background. It was montage heaven. Farrels moustache should have had it's own listing in the credits as should Foxx's precisions haircut - those lines must have been cut by a laser. There was no humour in the film; it was dark and morbid from the start to the end. I know it's about the criminal underworld but nobody smiles. So much so that the audience was depressed by the end. In fact, I don't remember a filmn where so many people went either to the toilet or bring back more drinks / food.

1/10 - and I'm being kind at that.

Glad it's not just me then.

It has to be the worst film i've have seen in a long long time. At first i though they were just trying too hard to make it cool, dark and menicing, but at the end it was just plain bad. The story didn't link together at the end at all. I think i would have fallen asleep if it wasn't so cold in the cinema!

i was really looking forward to seeing this - loved Michael Manns Collateral and Heat. Might just wait for it on DVD now.

They gave it an average review on Richard & Judy, 6/10. The trailers didnt make me want to rush to the cinema and i'm glad I didnt now!

:sunny:

Jodie

How could it be the same without the gorgeous Don Johnson  . i don't think films are ever as good as the original series.

The only exceptions I can think of are "Lost in Space" and the Monty Python films.

Minority review here.

I thought this was not bad at all. The camera work was very deliberate, almost like the COPS show where they follow behind them, hence the grainy picture quality that was often the case.

The love "insert s*x" scenes had no place in this film, cant see why they were included.

Crockett was the main character and tubbs was an also ran which is a shame for Foxx as he has more talent in his little finger than the drunken ahem..

Overall it kept me going for the film and i was happy at the end that i hadn't wasted my time.

Wondering how the plot didn't link, love to chew over that theory...

Ahoy

I managed to see it on friday aswell. I have to agree, the film was poor with the storyline all over the place. It was good to see what It would be like compared to the TV Series but would not pay to see it again.
