Just wanted to do a quick report of our experience (we are all vaxxed)...just returned from WDW (AoA) and a cruise. We did our antigen test pre trip at Shoppers and it was easy enough (bring your passport, they didnt tell me in advance so I had to go back home to grab ours). We flew Westjet from YYZ and it was not extra busy, they checked our tests at the WJ check in and wrote "negative" on our boarding passes. We did all 4 parks and had the very best time ever, it was so nice to be back...we usually go yearly aside from 2020 and usually around the same time as well, Im pretty sure this is the hottest it has been as well the least busy/easiest to get on all the rides. We did nearly every ride with even FoP at 35 minute wait. We tried and LOVED MMRR. We got a boarding group for Rise (we are not star wars people) and thought it was ok, but not spectacular, Im sure it didnt help that prior to boarding we got held in the queue for 30 minutes...however the whole galaxy land is amazing and Im sure I would be in love with the theming if we were fans
Hopped on the Skyliner for the first time just to try it out and it is super cool, though we rent a car when at WDW so we didnt actually use it to go anywhere. Even had some pixie dust twice, once a cast member we were joking with randomly gave us 2 FPs (has never happened to us) and another when a cast member at an ice cream stand just gave my daughter a pin for her collection. We didnt love the mobile ordering, felt like we were penalized to want to order in person and pay cash, but that may change when can use our credits on the ddp again. I also hope they bring back the old quick service way of things at AoA, currently you have to mobile order or look at a menu, but you cant walk around and browse at all the stations etc, hopefully post covid that will return. Went to goofys and hoped they were doing create your own again, but no, hopefully one day. We also walked by our beloved old wolfgang express, so sad to see that go. For TS we ate at our fave LTT, Sci fi, Frontera Cocina, all were delicious. It was our first time doing food and wine, and while we tried many of the offerings and most were scrumptious, we found that our family really missed that sit down/air conditioned break to relax. We had booked an antigen test at CVS a few weeks prior for a few days into our trip as we needed it pre cruise, it was easy to arrive/pay/take the test, however they did not tell us that we would not be receiving the under 18yo tests the same way as the adults, matter of fact they didnt send them all. Not sure if its the same for PCR, but make note to ask specifically how you will get your childs result if you go to CVS. The adult results came within a few hours to our email with a link to create a my chart account and view/dl the results, very simple. I thought surely the reason why only the 3 adults (and not the 2 teens) got theirs was because I could just view the kids under mine, this was not the case. It was a Monday evening when I realized that I did some research and found a note that minors results will not be sent..so I panicked and called the location that night, there was a message saying they were closed Tuesdays. The next morning I called a help line and the lady was very helpful and said she could indeed email them to me but it would take 24-48 hrs, and that they just dont automatically send minors' results?? So bizarre, anyhow I explained that wouldnt work as we needed them sooner, so she said she would gladly fax them right away, I explained I was at a hotel and that was not possible...she then walked me through the process of downloading a fax app onto my phone, to which she sent the results. She was very helpful and it all worked out but I cant imagine that makes any sense compared to just emailing the results the same way they do with adults results?? Off to our cruise we went (not Disney this time), we had no choice but to book a same day PCR as Carnival is not offering them for purchase and we couldnt extend our stay, so we booked Advent Health at MCO for the morning of our return flight. We booked a few weeks prior and this would not have been our choice if we had other options (would have done CVS or Walgreens a few days prior)...it was quite a mess. We ended up getting our results, but did allow a bit more than 4 hours before our flight and had to be a bit assertive while there..as in remind people you were there, explain you were told to be in this line that were now being sent to another etc. The poor girl that organizes the line was in tears at one point after having to tell many walk ins that they would not be seen today. Apparently they had to close down for 30 mins earlier as someone refused to leave the premises after not being happy with the info on their result. There was mass confusion and I would only recommend as a last result, but happy it ended up working out for us
While we waited for our results we checked in for our flight and entered our info on the ArriveCan app, pretty straightforward. After we got our printed results we went to WJ counter where they looked at our vax records (they put a yellow sticker on pp to indicate), test results and gave our bag tags, the off thru security we went. When we landed they announced there was a back up at customs so they were letting 50 people off at a time, but only 5 min intervals, so didnt take long at all. They also said the kiosks were down so we have to fill out the old forms which they gave out off the plane, many people stopped thru the hallways to fill them out, we just planned to fill them out in line. Turns out when we got to the area the kiosks we back up and running, so we just used them. Border agent asked for ArriveCan app code, test results and put a green sticker on pp saying we wouldnt need to quarantine or take a test at day 8. A lot of extra $ for tests for 5 of us and a bit of drama to go through, but so worth it to be back to our home away from home
