Just got home. Still love the RPR. Everyone there is great. We needed to activate our AP's at the park and they gave us each a coupon for 50% off an onsite room stay. Now we have to go back!!!

We had a great Hulk view room, but had to switch because the 1st room was non-smoking. We then had a very quiet garden room view at tower 2. Watch out, one wrong turn and you wind up at the putting green.

The battery in our van was dead when we were leaving and the valet guys had a battery charger and took care of it for us, they were great.

Never ate at the hotel, ate all our meals at the parks. Didnt rent a cabana, tried to get one at the HRH, but it was sold out.

Oh, almost forgot, the RPR had an Easter egg hunt on Easter morning, they hid 3500 eggs around the pool area, there were 500 kids there, my daughter didnt find any eggs and she looked dissapointed, and a hotel employee gave her a couple of eggs and a keychain. Then a guy from the hotel gave them a couple of tokens for the arcaade.

Still like the HRH better, but wouldnt hesitate to stay at the RPR if the price was right.

Glad you had a great trip.

I noticed you stayed at the Poly a while back. Which did you like better, RPR or Poly?

Thanks for the info.

I managed to get lost in Tower 3, too. We were on level 3 at the end of a hallway. I went to tend to my laundry which was on level two, down the stairs and then down the hallway. When I returned to my room I thought that I retraced my steps, but when I opened the door to my floor there were different room numbers. I went back and forth again before I realized that, when on level two, I'd taken the wrong "Y" branch when walking back from the laundry. After that I was very careful where I was walking. :)

It's been 10 years since staying at the Poly, but my vote goes to the RPR. I think its prettier and its only a year old. Plus the fact that you get Universal express for most of the rides, hands down, definately the RPR.

We loved it there too! Glad you had a nice trip. Do you remember what color your rooms keys were? I have a key collecting hobby and have the keys from the grand opening and wonder if they have changed them (will need to go back then!).

Welcome back, Patty!

I'm glad you had a great time! I LOVED the Royal Pacific! We made so many friends there we have to go back just to see them! The service there is incredible!

Too bad you didn't go to the Islands and asked them about the crazy lady in the wheelchair with the dark glasses who always wore a Brooklyn cap and ordered only kids' meals!! I am HARD to forget! :teeth:

Mermaidsmom: the room keys are a light beige ccolor.

Robinrs: I thought of you every time we got on and off the boat..I saw a young girl take a dixie once, she was running onto the boat, the captain was distracted helping a guest in a wheelchair and the little girl scraped both knees. I was the overprotective one "be careful" and "hold on to the railings", etc...

I am glad to see that you have not lost your sense of humor...

Patty, thanks for all the great info!

You mentioned that you preferred the HRH over the RPR and I was just wondering what you like better at the HRH? I currently have ressies at RPR for our November trip at the Entertainment rate of $125 (water view) but I've been debating on trying to switch to HRH if I can get a good rate (no Ent. or Fan Club rates were available when I called). Since you've stayed at both places, how much more would you be willing to pay for the HRH over the RPR?

My kids are 8 and 5 and probably wouldn't use the water slide since they are a bit timid when it comes to stuff like that so that wouldn't be a big advantage for us. Also, I'm afraid that the HRH would be nosier and busier but the theming looks so cool and I've heard many people say they prefer it over the RPR. I've also heard that the location is better for access to the parks/City Walk.

Any opinions would be great!

Thanks,

Actually, I wouldnt pay any extra, well, maybe like $20 over. I really love them both, but I wouldnt really pay extra for the HRH, I would go there for the same price.

The RPR is great, its so pretty, the arcade is fun for the kids, the rooms are nice, a little smaller than the HRH, but how much time are you in the rooms. I would keep my RPR ressies, but if you could get the HRH for the same price, I would go with that.

Patty,
We leaving tomorrow for 4 nites at RPR and are so happy to see how pleased you were with the resort.

Regarding the cabanas...I've heard differing things. For the most part people have been saying don't bother at RPR. Could you give me your review of them. At this point it may be too late for me but what the heck!

I think the cabanas at RPR look nice. I phoned for info on these last week. The gentleman said cabana 2 is the best. The other two have hot tubs in front of them.

He said they came with a fruit basket, soda, water and something else I can't remember. I think he even said they have a television.

All day is $75 unless you are staying club level then it is much cheaper.

I think any cabana is nice because it gives you a place to rest and relax and get out of the sun.

Thanks again, Patty!

It's good to know that RPR is just as nice.

I have a question. We received that same offer to renew our AP's with the coupon for the 50% off the next stay. I called and they said that it (the coupon) expired 8/31/03. Do you know if that means that you must stay there before that date, or just book and maybe prepay before that date. The woman I spoke to was vague about the answer. We have Ent discount for our Sept trip, but not for our Dec trip. We need the discount for Dec.

Did anyone get the Ent rate for first 2 weeks of Dec yet?

Thanks!

Muushka: my coupon says stays from may till august 31.

Cora: the cabanas at the RPR are smaller than at the other restorts, I would go with #2, its facing the pool. Thats the one we used in october. Have a great trip!!

We just returned today and I loved the RPR. HRH is closer to US but RPR is closer to IOA.They both seem equidistant to City Walk only RPR is close to Margaritaville while HRH is closer to the Nascar side. If you have a car it's a good idea to stop at a market or drug store to buy water and soft drinks because it saves quite a bit of money. We also stopped at a publix and bought some muffins for a quick breakfast.
The cabanas are small. We weren't really interested because I can't spend all day by the pool but if your a pool lover they might just be a nice luxury.
