Just back today from 4 nights at the Yacht club. We enjoyed our stay thanks to exrtra magic mornings(MK 7 rides all in 2 hours GREAT!!!) and stormalong bay(TERRIFIC!!).
I have to say that I will NEVER go in July again due to the crowds!!!(walked in then out of MGM and Epcot due to crowds!!)

We ate at Yachtsman,Cape May,Espn, and Rain forest. I was very disappointed in Espn and Rain Forest who in the past really enjoyed. We had GREAT meals at Yachtsman and Cape May!! :):)

I love the Yacht and look forward to future stays but.... I have to say they NEED to do something about the bus transpertation!! HORRIBLE!!! 5 resorts on one bus is just CRAZY!!!
Any questions I would be happy to answer them!!! :)

Hi, we were at the YC July 4 - 9th. I agree the buses were horrible. Our worst bus experience was that we waited 40 minutes at the YC for a AK bus, it pulled up and the bus driver says, "It's pretty full but I think we can get you on.".....Ya, it was packed all right, but there is no way we were waiting another 40 min for a bus. :sad2: We did a GF/YC split stay and really missed the good GF transportation. The MK buses were packed, too. That was the only disappointing thing at YC for us....other than some housekeeping issues here and there.

The crowd levels were high but we had luck sleeping in, swimming til the afternoon rains and then hanging out relaxing in our room til late afternoon/dinner time. We would go out for dinner and then hit the parks in the evenings and we found several times rides were walk ons that way. We tried the get up early plan, but that just doesn't fit our style and we weren't happy with the crowds or heat doing it that way.

We were lucky one night to do that at Epcot and walked right on Nemo and Soaring but then that was all because the park closed. (we got there around 8:00ish)

We had the same experiences with the buses we waited at Ak for a bus for an hour!! We waited in line as it took bus 3 to finally have room for us!!!!!!

That's ridiculous! If not for that bus trouble we would have really loved the YC. We are GF fans, but the YC was great for us too. We have just never experienced transportation inconveniences like we did at the YC at any other WDW resort. Maybe just this crowded time of year? :confused3

We have stayed at the Yacht MANY times!! I have had some bus issues in the past but this time it was RIDICULOUS!!!!

Good news...you had great times and loves the YC:) Bad news...bus transportation what I feared.....we will only be going to AK one day...I will have to see which one will work out best....
What abt MK...is it worth it to walk through Epcot...monorail it over to MK?? I cannot believe Deluxe properties have to share buses...at POP bus transportation was great!!! But I want deluxe accomodations:)

I am hoping my week will be a bit less crowded!
We have one TS available...(doing Coral Reef..CG and Narcoosees) Any ideas for an additional Epcot restaurant w/ a 14 mth old?? DH thinks she is too young for Cape May Breakfast...I dont!! lol

How was your room??? Did you get your requests...how were cm's...since both of you are Yachter's...is it stuffy as some say? Folks say that abt GF...I didnt think that though...I love that feeling of first walking in and saying...ahhh...

Hey
I LOVE the Yacht!! The pool is just the best !! IMHO!! You and your 14th month old will LOVE the kiddie pool!! Best kiddie pool on property!!:yay:

Your DD will love the breakfest at Cape May it is very low key compared to other charachter breakfests.

Our room was very nice great housekeeping. (left us thank you notes for tip!!):laundy:

As far as food you will LOVE Narcoosees!!:woohoo: I would not suggest Coral reef!! Lots of bad experiences from posters!! I am not big on any Epcot resteraunts so Im not one to ask sorry!! :)

ouch on the CR:( Dh thinks she will love it watching the fishies...yeah but we have to eat the food!! lol

We had our wedding rehearsal dinner at Narcoosees:) We opened it and closed it..I love it there!! Thank goodness FIL paid the bill:)
Thanks for the tips...DD loves Minnie:)
Will re think CR..I have read those posts too..some are favorable...I can DH that its getting all bad reviews on the DIS...I can take it or leave it...I myslef too prefer resort restaurants..they are just harder to get to!! lol
Thanks:)
Please disregard grammar and misspelled words:)

We used to walk thru Epcot and monorail over to MK, but it is a long haul and in the heat it can be a killer.:guilty: That day we waited for the AK bus, we saw THREE MK buses. But, every MK bus we were on was packed. The good thing is that at teh MK you do have the choice of the YC/BC bus or taking the S/D/BW bus - whichever line is shorter or bus comes sooner. The AK is the one that shares with all 5 resorts - well it was when we were there. The ride to AK is long, too - you stop at BC and then BB before.

I don't think the YC is stuffy at all. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the GF and feel at home there, though. Never have I thought the GF was stuffy or snooty so that's just me. Every time we entered the YC the bell svc CMs would say "Welcome back" and it seemed they all were trying very hard to be friendly and welcoming - much more so that our last YC stay last summer. GF is still our absolute favorite, but YC is second place and has a lot to offer.

We really enjoyed Cape May bfasts. It's fun and I think your little one would have a good time. Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip and Dale are there....maybe they'd scare her? That wouldn't be fun. :sad2: I thought the food at Cape May was great compared to other buffets. Yachtsman's Steakhouse is wonderful. We enjoy most of the Epcot restaurants but have a few favorites...France, Germany, kids like China but DH and I do not, lol.

YC anf GF split stay? Heaven:)

My DH thinks she may be timid around life size characters..they are cute on Playhouse Diseny....I ordered her some movies that show the characters a camp out one and some other one.....but you never know..she is pretty adventerous!
I view GF #1 ..with YC as a 2nd.....I know alot of folks have the interpretation that BC is more for families..but I am sure Ava will be welcomed just as well:) Speaking of GF..sorry..I love their kids area when you check in:)
Is their one at the YC? I would love to take a photo of her on a little couch..etc:)

Thanks Ladies for your replies!!!
I am actually on the hunt for an arrival outfit with a nautical theme:) She is our miracle and magical baby...it took 3 years...and then she decided to make her appearance on our Fairytale Wedding anniversary!
DH knew he was in trouble then...lol...sorry OT

We just got back late last night from two weeks at the YC and I have to say the bus transportation really left a lot to be desired. I don't remember it that way last year at all. Twice we were late for dinner reservations (LTT and Ohana) and I had allowed 1 hour transportation time! Made me really miss the monorail resorts.

YC wasn't stuffy at all, but I thought BC was a little too crazy in the lobby! We enjoyed Cape May Buffet and Beaches and Cream, and of course the kids love SAB!

I would go back to a split stay though since DH and I both missed the monorail resorts to much we tried to change our reservation for the last week to GF, Poly or CR but no availability!

YC was great, a few mousekeeping issues, but our main problem was the bus transportation, other than that it was a great time.

There is a little kids' area at YC. It is right near the front desk and it is cute and YC themed. My DD7 took every opportunity to enjoy it, lol. I was really happy we chose YC over BC. The YC is more serene and classy. The BC was WILD with running screaming kids everywhere. It's cute and bright and sunny at the BC, but it was much more crowded and loud and crazy than the YC. I saw the characters being very sensitive to the little ones when they weren't welcome to visit. Cape May is such fun and really had a nice spread it might be worth a try. There are no characters at dinner just bfast.

Oh, yeah.....the GF is the BEST(love that place  ), but now that my youngest is 7 yrs old, we are really liking that Epcot area so a GF/YC split may be our standard from now on.:goodvibes It was the best of both worlds.

Congratulations on your miracle DD. I have a 6 yr gap between my son (almost 17) and DD11. Enjoy!!!!!

So BC doesnt stand for Behaved Children??

Just kidding:)

I felt that too when we visited friends there.....

Thanks again for the tips, esp Cape May....

Your DD's are lovely and I adore their gowns in he photos! Are they from StoryBook Heirloom?
Thanks for sharing:)
Will have to let everyone know how the bus service improves by the end of AUG......

So weird...we NEVER had any bus issues at all during our 12 day split stay at Swan and YC, from 6/25 to7/6!

When we were at the Swan, our bus looped Swan, Dolphin, and BW, and then the park.

When we were at YC, our bus was dedicated to YC and BC. We were picked up at YC, we went on to BC and then to the park.

We never, in all twelve days, had to travel to all 5 resorts! Maybe we went at different times of the day or something like that!:confused3

Glad to hear you liked YC so much. I don't see a whole lot written here about it and was wondering if I made the right choice. I'm not so concerned about the bus issue since we plan on spending most of our time at Epcot and MGM. We're moving to GF later and will do MK then.

I do have a few questions..I know you were there during a busy time, but I read somewhere that Epcot never really sees any huge crowds due to the size of the park. Was it ride times that were long or was it the actual crowd that made you turn around? We're going close to Christmas and I know it'll be busy. I really don't like large crowds but I am so looking forward to spending time in Epcot.
Last year when we went to Disneyland it was so crowded that I chose not to go into the park. I didn't mind so much since we had been there so many times before, but I've never been to WDW and would be so sad if Epcot was too busy to enjoy.

I have a daughter (12) and a son (14). It'll probably be cold while we're there, would they still enjoy the resort area if we don't take advantage of the pool? Whenever I see anyone write about their YC stay, the focus of their good time seems to be SAB.

Last question, my son is really looking forward to eating at ESPN. It'll be football season and he's so excited to watch the Monday night game. What was so bad about your dining experience? Was it the food, service, atmosphere, everything?? Also, we have an ADR at Spoodles, did you have a chance to dine there?

Ok, that's enough for now. I think I used up my question allowance! Glad you had a good time!

Dis Ohana...we ate at ESPN 4 times during our 12 days stay at Swan and YC. Everything was good, but service wasn't quite as friendly as I remember on prior eatings!;)

We were there from 6/25 to 7/6 and never found EPCOT to be very crowded at all. I have been at Christmas, and I think you will be fine!:santa:

DH and I returned last night from 4 nights at BCV. We loved it especially the closeness to Epcot. We visited there 4 times in the 5 days we were there. We only rode the bus back to BCV on our first night and it was a YC/BC bus and not very crowded. Everyone on the bus was actually staying at BC.
We put ourselves on the waitlist today for our Dec trip to either BCV or BWV. Bringing my parents and 2 DDs and we all love being close to Epcot. SSR is our home but we want to be next to the action.

We will be first-timers at YC for 10 days starting 8/16, and I have enjoyed reading all the comments.

In all our previous trips, I have never had truly miserable bus stories, except for leaving MK or MGM late back to the POR last October during FDP. It's all in the timing and temperature and temperament!!!;)

I'll keep ESPN on the list then! I can deal with unfriendly service as long as the food is good ;) .
I'm so glad you didn't feel crowded in at EPCOT. I don't care if the ride lines are long, I plan on doing more in WS anyway.
