Just got back last night and I wanted to put my 2 cents in re: where we ate.

Monday, 9/14: Pop Century food court

Tues. 9/15: Boma breakfast and Cosmic Rays (before MNSSHP)

Weds: 9/16 San Angel Inn and T-Rex

Thurs: 9/17 Pop Century food court and Yachtsman Steakhouse

Friday: 9/18 Pop Century food court and Trails' End

Sat. 9/19 Pop Century Food court (Twice)!!!

Best meal of the trip......T-Rex!!!

Let me try to get started while the memories are fresh in my head.

This is our 2nd trip to WDW, myself, 30 and DBF, 28. no kids, so that influences our restaurant choices. Let me also say, even though WDW has some awesome table service restaurants, I understand why some might prefer the QSDP. I booked a bounceback for next Sept., and get the regular dining plan for free, and cannot downgrade to QSDP. So.....I'm already choosing my next TS restaurants!

Since we are coming from the west coast, we get to WDW late. So I think I am going to make it a tradition to stay in and eat at the hotel for the first night. I got the chicken alfredo and penne pasta (come with a breadstick and a lightly breaded boneless chicken breast). DBF got chicken marinara (lightly breaded chicken breast covered with marinara sauce and a salad with a breadstick).

I had the same dish last year when we stayed at AS Movies......So good!!!! I loved the sauce and the chicken was tender and juicy. I can't say enough good things about my dish. DBF also liked his, but said that there was very little Italian dressing on his salad, almost not enough to taste it. So if you like salad dressing. I would suggest buying an extra packet of it from the mini market area for 50 cents.

For dessert, we had our receipts stamped and went back for ice cream sundaes after we ate our entrees. We both got brownie sundaes; 3 scoops of ice cream, brownie chunks, topping, whipped cream and nuts. The CMs behind the counter were really cool, you could custom make your sundae. I got 3 scoops of vanilla, hot fudge, brownies and whipped cream. SO GOOD!! :goodvibes

DBF got 1 scoop each of vanilla, rocky road and cookies and cream, brownies, hot fudge, whipped cream and nuts. He said it was delicious!

That was our first night!

Sorry, I see that I posted this in Restaurants, and I meant to post in Dining Reviews. How can I move it or have it moved????

You have been moved........ROFL....We loved All Star Movies and Pop Century pasta dishes too......we were there last week and had a great time in spite of the heat and humidity....something we are not used to.....I didnt know about having the receipt stamped for a sundae after we ate our meal........thanks for that tip

So, to start our trip off on a good foot, I planned a special breakfast for our first full day at WDW. We had never been to Boma, but it gets such rave reviews, I wanted to try it.

I had asked the front desk at POP what time the busses started running to AK. My plan was to take a bus from POP to AK, then to AKL in order to make it in time for my 7:35AM ressie. I was assured that busses would start running to AK at 6:30AM.

Right on the dot of 6:30am we waited.......and waited! Finally a MK bus driver asks us where we are going. He tells us that even when the early AK busses start running, there probably won't be any busses going to AKL early enough for my ressie. So DBF and I decide to take a taxi (there were always taxis parked outside of POP). Taxi was around $15 with tip.

We were seated as soon as Boma opened at 7:30. Good selection of food....scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, 4 different kinds of cold cereal, 4 different kinds of mini muffins (the blueberry were to die for!!!!), goat cheese and chive eggs, bacon, sausage, various pastries, sliced ham with an optional mustard sauce (tasted like Dijon) and sliced turkey, bagels, toast, waffles (not Mickey), pancakes.....am I forgetting anything????

Honestly, I wasn't fond of any of the African foods....I didn't like the "corned beef hash" and the sausage and biscuit casserole had an unusual spice. But please let me stress, there is enough American foods to please even the pickiest eater!!! I would certainly go back next year; the restaurant is beautiful and quiet and the service was excellent.

My favs were the waffles, potatoes, muffins (with a crumb topping on top!) ans sliced to order ham. The regular scrambled eggs were good, I prefer mine a little more cooked (drier), but they were still good.

My 2 cents re: early breakfast ressies at resorts: in the future, I think I would take a taxi. It seems too hard to go from resort to resort early in the morning.
