We just got back from WDW and Vero and used the free dining plan. Way too much food. Here's where we ate:

Snacks: mostly bottled water (it was way too hot for me - 95 avg. each day) & Mickey ice cream bars

Lunch: Cosmic Ray's in Tomorrowland - food was fine, nothing special
Tusker House in Animal Kingdom - best lunch we had. The salmon with rice and green beans was wonderful. More like a dinner than a lunch.
Pecos Bill's in Frontierland - food was good. Chicken wrap was a bit plain, but I'd rather that than it be drowning in dressing. DH liked his shredded pork sandwich.

Dinner: Chef Mickey's - food was good (not great, but not bad). The characters were great and numerous. Get there at least 15 min. ahead of your ADR.
Jiko - wonderful meal! I highly recommend this place. The bbq chicken flatbread app. was the best! Everything was delicious. I had halibut and DH had short ribs.
Artist Point - BEST MEAL WE HAD, HANDS DOWN! DH had the pork chop w/mac n cheese (not your typical mac n cheese though) and I had the salmon (yes, again). The choc dessert is the best dessert I have ever eaten!!! It was a flourless choc cake or something like that. DH's berry cobbler w/ ice cream was great too.

We skipped a couple of meals b/c we weren't hungry (just snacked throughout the day). All in all, the dining plan was a great value and I would use it again even if it wasn't free.

Glad you had a great time on the free dining plan. The nice thing about it being free is you did not feel you had to eat all the food and make yourself sick.

We missed out on Tusker house last July. That is one place I am really looking forward to trying.

forgot to add that we also ate at Ohana's (last night w/ old menu). Food was okay, but not that great. DD's mac n cheese was the best food on the table.

You and my DS11 should dine together, we had 4 TS meals on our free dining trip and 3 out of 4 he had salmon...and the 4th one was breakfast! :rotfl2: I'm glad you have a great time. We really enjoyed our Disney Dining Experience as well!

Holden,

Thanks for posting!

How did you find the portions at Artist's Point? I tend to like the 2 credit TS restaurants because the size of your meal is not gargantuan and the quality is better.

Sounds like you had a scrumptious trip! ;)

The portion sizes at AP were perfect. DH had a big pork chop and a plate full of the yummy mac n cheese. I really didn't eat much of my side dish because I filled up on my app. (cheese platter - delicious), so I mainly ate my salmon. Plus I wanted to save room for dessert! Both of our desserts were quite large, and I only ate half of mine. I should say that we ate early (ADR's for 6pm) because of DD, so we weren't starving when we went. I was never hungry the entire trip.

Lizzybee - That's funny about your DS. I usually order fish when I eat out because I love it so much. Sometimes salmon is the only one they offer (not a big seafood person, just fish).

Thanks for sharing your reviews. :flower:
