Just Back - ***TOUR GROUP RANT!!**

We were there in June and saw some groups. The only time we were inconvenienced was in Club Cool. Once the large group got their samples, they just stood in front of the dispensers making it hard for anyone else to sample. Then, they got loud. Honestly, I would've left but the kids in our party were playing a card game with a CM.

That was the only annoyance. We were always able to avoid them and still do the most popular rides/attractions. I guess I hit things at a decent time. We never had any issues getting FPs, the kids never got ran over, etc. We were even able to avoid the chanting.

Thanks to the information I read on the Disboards, before our trip. I knew the best plan was to "go the other way" when I saw them. Maybe July has a lot more, making it harder to avoid. But, I'd go back in June in a heartbeat. They didn't bother me.

BTW, the Brazillians are like all S. Americans (and Middle Easterners-married to one). They just tend to be loud about everything, from their words to their actions. Maybe once you realize that's their culture, it's not as much of an annoyance. LOL, we've had Brazillian and German au pairs and there's a world of difference between the two. The Brazillians crashed the car, had the over-21 crowd buy their alcohol and partied like it was their last day on earth. So, no, they don't just save those obnoxious behaviors for WDW.

If you have no use for threads on this specific topic why even bother chiming in? The title clearly stated its nature.

It's not that I have no use for them, my use is to assure people that not all Brazilan tour groups are rude, inconsiderate and obnoxious, as almost every thread on the DIS would suggest.

As someone who has logged thousand of WDW July park hours, I am very well-versed in the July tour groups, so my purpose is to remind people that if indeed they have seen this behaviour (I have never seen any of it in the severity as these threads always imply), that it is not exclusive to the teen groups.

As I stated, we see much more rude behaviour from American parents who are selfish, impatient and entitled (because they paid xxx amount of dollars to be there), then from Brazilian teens.

Can they be rude? Of course, they can. I'm a highschool teacher, so I also know about teens as I hang with them all day long. But honestly, these threads crack me up because it's like most of the participants think that these are the rudest guests, and they also seem to think that Americans, or any other cultural group can't act this way, when in fact, they can. I firmly believe the whole tour group hype is because people are expecting it - if you believe they will inconvenience your vacation, they will. Why is it that my family of 4 has been in July for 10 years in a row, for 2 weeks at a time, and never been inconvenienced? Yet, all of you, who have been maybe 1x or 2x at most, for a few days, has been? Is it a difference of perspective, expectations, and tolerance? Probably a little bit of all of those factors.

If indeed people feel there is a big problem, contact Disney, and express your concern over safety and park etiquette - I'm sure they'd be happy to hear from you, as all guests are treated fairly in regards to voicing their concerns to Disney.

I was a CM on the College Program and my roommate was from Brazil (I am still friends with her, she moved to the US) and she says these groups make her embarrassed to be Brazilian!! They *are* the most spoiled and overentitled teenagers Brazil has to offer. I have to say, if we took the top 1% of overspoiled American teens and sent them to a foreign country to play, I don't know if they would behave much better.

The groups are annoying, they know they're annoying and it is part of the fun for them. If I see a big flag, I go in the opposite direction. My FP can wait, I'll find another attraction or sit on a bench somewhere. I avoid them as much as I can help it.

Why does Disney allow it? These groups must pay enough that the higher- ups don't mind them torturing the CM's and guests, because they keep booking and security is rarely called unless there is outright abuse.

My advice is 1) AVOID and 2) if someone in a group hits or pushes you, COMPLAIN or call security. Maybe part of the reason Disney tolerates the misbehavior of these groups is that they don't hear enough guest complaints.

You are exactly right. These groups are big money Disney is not willnig to lose so they are left ot do basically whatever they want. We Americans will still be coming and spending regardless so the fact that we are abused by them doesn't matter. I gurantee that calling security will do nothing as fra as these groups are concerned. The one problem we had with loud tour group teens in our hotel taught us that. We basicall got "sorry but our hands are tied." They are not going to piss them off by telling them to move or pipe down. The best thing we can do is stop gonig when they are there. I purposely plan around June and Jan. so I DON'T have to deal with them. The few that I have encountered in November have been enough to tell me I DO NOT want to be in Disney when they are out in full force!

These threads always crack me up! We've probably logged more WDW July park hours than all combined posters on this thread, as we've been going every July for 2 weeks straight for 10 years! At some point, we've been in Disney during every day in July!

We found the tour groups to be less this year, than in year's past. We did leave the parks on July 12th, but up to then, there weren't as many as in past years. They never bother us, nor do we get bothered by chanting or the like. We've walked in the middle of the tour groups with our stroller, and have not been bothered, we've had some of the teens return an autograph book that fell out of my daughter's hands just this past trip, etc. Honestly, people are so hot and bothered on here about the tour groups, that they go looking for problems. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy, IMHO. Will there be some rude behaviour? Sure, just like there is in all parts of the parks. The only thing that is common with the groups is the Fastpass ticket situation, and seeing mostly exhausted groups of teens sitting on the curb over 1 hour before fireworks in order to secure seats. Besides that, no problems for us in the thousands upon thousands of WDW park hours we've logged.

As I've commented on many times, we have witnessed more rude behaviour by Americans - both adults and teens alike. We were cut in line, banged into, and stepped on by rude American parents who were impatient this past trip. Not Brazilian teens...

Not really sure what the purpose of these threads are? If you don't like the tour groups, don't go in July. The fact is, they have just as much a right to be there as any of us.

Now, if you witnessed rude behaviour, or safety issues, then you speak to a CM. Just as if you witness an American breaking a rule or someone from another country - if anyone breaks a rule that is a safety concern, then speak to a CM.

Cutting in line, making noise and standing around are not exclusive to Brazilain teens, as we see lots of this by other groups of people as well.

One of the videos I saw on there referred to Central FL as a whole and also mentioned December. Has anyone seen many tour groups in December at WDW, and if so what part of the month?

Many years ago, I was frustrated and decided to take the high road. At lunch, I took 3 straws, "taped" them together with bandaids from my pack, and decorated a napkin as our family flag..... again using bandaids to secure the flag.

If a group was particularly loud, I would raise my flag and we always got applause from other non-group guests and it was fun. I didn't cut or really do anything with the flag but wave it a few times. It was comic relief.

This has been a very interesting thread and I have learned alot about the culture differences.

OK, now I have a strange question. They always wear matching shirts but I rarely notice body odor. Do they wash them every night? Seriously. My family can't wear the same shirt a second day during the Florida summer without washing it.

We encountered them over the 4th of July. they were in red, green, and yellow shirts. All had some kind of camp motto on them. I sure wish I was sent to Europe for my summer camp as a kid. They were very rude and loud. We had the misfortune of running into two different groups at the same time. They just tried to see who could scream the loudest. It was crazy. I didn't let it brother me, but it sure would of been more relaxing if they weren't there.

Love it! If I'm ever in this situation I may steal your idea and maybe add a few things. I think it might be a good idea to get "everyone else" in line to do our own chant...how does 99 bottles of beer sound?

Personally, if I encountered this, I would ask for a refund and return home. I can get this type of behavior and aggrevation in my hometown. After meeting civil people (including my husband) from Brazil, Ive come to realize its just part of their culture, it will never change.

I don't think encountering tour groups would entitle you to a refund. It would be great if anyone could get one just because a tour group annoyed them, but I just can't see that happening.

I actually experienced the tour groups but didn't realize it was an ongoing issue... My first trip ever was around July 4, so I was clearly in the thick of it. Since then, I have been going near the end of August, so it's been a lot better. Thanks for enlightenning me! July is OUT of consideration from now on!

Over the years I've seen a few groups in July at both Universal parks but NOTHING like Disney. I guess Universal isn't on their radar down there...luckily.

Tiger, obviously it is a problem for us and to trivialize and patronize us "Americans" isn't helpful. It really doesn't matter how many July's you've spent there. I and many others have experienced it and it is a PROBLEM and we are discussing it, is all... If a single person pushes me (by mistake) that's one thing. Hoards of teens all being rude - pushing or chantinig or both at once is quite another thing. There are no "American" counterparts at Disney for that scenario, now, is there?
