As Plano girl said, " I always say that where there's smoke there's fire. There's no way these groups would have this reputation unless events occurred that made them stand out. They can be defended as being no worse than any other groups but I personally don't buy it."

ITA!:thumbsup2

For years, this topic has come up far more often then any other group. Yes, there are exceptions to every type of group. The large numbers, though, open them up to far more complaints. I don't know of other group that always travels in such large numbers. Much different from a Magical gathering of 20-30 people.

Because groups like dance or sports or cheerleaders competions have limited time in parks and even so they also cause problems they are not as visible.

That is so funny, I showed your pix to my DS last year when you posted a couple here.

No offence, but what do you think will happen to you if you really were to become very physical with a bunch of teens who happen to be minors. It isn't worth what would happen to you.

1. you would be asked to leave the park by security
2. that minor you push/shoved/hit what ever it may be can pursue charges against you
3. from that point on you have just ruined your family vacation & may end behind bars

Physical altercations never solve a problem, they only tend to make it worse. It doesn't matter to the law, that they were trying to "cut you", what matters would be that you struck a minor.

First, who said anything about hitting anyone? :confused3 If someone happens to get bumped in to by a 6' 4" 300lb former football player there will be an equal and opposite reaction. :rolleyes1 Might they end up on the ground - mmmm possibly. If they're running over my wife or kids then I'll take whatever comes at me for trying to protect them. The point being that no one's going to infringe on me or my family without some consequences.

The flipside is that I'd be the first person to offer them some extra FPs or let them ahead of me so they could catch up with friends or whatever. All I ask in return is a little respect, a little self-restraint and some manners.

You can try singing kumbaya and see how that works for you but I like the direct approach. :hippie: Why do you think these same situations keep happening? BECAUSE PEOPLE PUT UP WITH IT!!! "Oh, they're from another country" or "They don't understand our culture" or "It's just not worth getting involved". You can choose to be a victim or you can choose to stand up for yourself. I may not speak their language or come from that part of the country but they'll understand what I'm saying. :cool2:

I have stood up for myself at WDW in the past when dealing with badly behaved foreign children. Going to a CM has always worked for me quite well.

Like, I said, its in their culture...

I just went downstairs and saw a car pull up in front of my house and park at the end of my walkway. 2 guys got out of the car and started walking down the sidewalk..to a house 3 houses down.

As I stood there scratching my head as to why the would park so far away, in front of MY house, when the entire street is empty of cars, a light bulb went off in my head. At the side of my walkway is a tree that casts a shadow to the street below...they wanted MY;) shade!!

This happens in my shore community, Cape May all of the time. It's a free street, if you want the shade, get there first.

I was reading a trip report over at another site, and they ran into a tour group who started chanting in line. The rest of the guests started booing and hissing, and the group stopped.

I like that idea.

No, it happens because Disney lets them do it. Disney has done nothing to stop it. Sometimes one CM is no match for a group that "claim" they don't understand English. What makes me think "hit", I said, push, shove or hit I think.. and this is what makes me think it, as you posted:

1. If you push me you will be pushed back. Push a minor even if they pushed first, you are legally wrong. I am not saying they were right, but it is against the law for an adult to lay a hand on a minor.

2. If you push or step on my wife or kids you will end up on the ground. a "gentle" bump causing someone to fall, again a minor, they can legally go after you.

3. If a group comes at me like they own the sidewalk/walkway and can't possibly be bothered to move, those in my path WILL be moved. Only way possible for you to move them out of your path is by you physically doing so.

4. If you try to cut past me in line you will be stopped by me. Stopped by you via the means you have stated above? If so...again, physical.

5. If you try to push me out of the way at the FP machine (good luck with that) you won't like the outcome. and just what will that outcome be?

6. If you act civilized and can behave like you have even a small amount of sense and manners you'll find that this large, imposing alpha male/dad can be very nice and respectful. As well as being respectful can also bully them because you are larger

Was that a good enough reason for me to state you would get physical with them.. your post may have been funny & cute to some, but to me, you sound like a big bully. Again, touching a minor for what ever reason is against the law. By the way, the way Fl laws work, the minor just has to make the accusation that you have touched them & you will be arrested. You will have to prove that you did not do that.. Fl has some strict laws when it come to minors.

I don't need to sing any songs to them. I really haven't had them cut in front of me. If I see they are on a line, I look elsewhere for something else to do. I don't need to place myself in a situation where I don't want to be. I am NOT making excuses for them. Some do have very rude behavior & some don't. That is the same for any large group of teens, Americans too. They need to learn manners. By having the attitude that you have with your macho ego, you are just as rude as they are. If you have a problem, do as another poster said, go and demand a refund. That is how to stop it, not by being a bully.

DD and I have never gone the times the big groups come in.

But I tell you what: I am mouthy when I need to be. I don't care who you are or where you from because if you start chanting and being disrespectful, and keep doing it when people have politely asked you to stop, you will get the complimentary shut the ---- up!!!!!!!!

Have you ever been on a international flight with a young people church group who continued to sing Kum By ya-sorry don't know how to spell it and other songs? Then get to airport just to be delayed with them? I am sorry, but I told these people to shut up and got an applause for it. And they were fellow Americans.

Why offensive? People on conventions wear name tags, kids on trips wear same t-shirts, so why not. It would make it easier for their tour guide to spot his "kids", for them to spot each other and for us not to associate every Brazilian family as a Brazilian Group. As for GG, if your group is large enough, doesn't just make sence to devide, for your own convenience, not as obligation and GG do not have 150 people. JMO.

The example given was splitting up groups into those that had 5 or 6 people. Many families are larger than that! You cannot pick out one ethnic or type of group, and have them divide up, and not have the same rule for all groups. Unless you want to be accused of racisim or discrimination.

And I don't see how going thru a park full of booing and hissing would be any more enjoyable than going thru a park with lots of chanting going on. Sounds like one irritating noise traded for another. And swearing at them? That is worse!

Mickeyfan, you're one of the enablers who tolerate the behavior and in doing that, are encouraging it. Stop talking about the CMs. They aren't going to do anything. Period. You're either a person who allows yourself to be walked all over or you're not. If people stop letting everything go, the behavior will stop.

my thoughts too.. I don't think I would want young English speaking children hearing me tell a group of teens (or anyone for that matter) to shut the **** up. That is worse than chanting.

How am I talking about the CM's :confused3 The CM's that are out there on the attractions sometimes are no match for those groups. I am not talking about them but standing up for them. Call me an enabler all you want. I really could care less. :rotfl: If you are soooo upset over what they do, then don't go or ask for a refund. Only then will the Disney Corporation realize there is a problem, when their profits shrink due to guests asking for refunds because of rules & regulations that are already set in place not being followed ie: line cutting. As far as the chants, you cannot stop that, just as you cannot stop as screaming child from having the melt down of their life as they are in line behind you.. both are very loud & something you learn to deal with. Trust me, I am not one to get walked all over. Life is too short to be on this board complaining about these tour groups. I don't tend to sweat the things I cannot change. Go ahead, ask Disney for a refund, that would be one less person in front of me for a FP ;)

I just emailed Disney's website contact with this-----------

I see this way too many times on the DisBoards & have commented on this before. This is why I do not go during this time of year. It amazes that these tour groups are allowed to get away with this behavior. You do not have to email be back, but this needs to be addressed.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2516866

If you are going to continue to let this happen, there needs to be a very LARGE & LOUD Disney representative that tours with these groups since they continually ruin the vacation for everone else following the rules. This is unacceptable.

Here is the website if anyone else wants it.

:santa::santa::santa:

I wouldn't take your letter seriously, as you take an entire group, and claim that they 'all' ruin things for everyone in the parks. They have never bothered me that much, so they don't bother everyone. Disney won't take a letter like this seriously, as it's prejudicial and it's stereotyping one group.

I was reading a trip report over at another site, and they ran into a tour group who started chanting in line. The rest of the guests started booing and hissing, and the group stopped.

Seriously, how this any different than chanting?

Honestly, if people are reading through this entire thread, I'm thinking they might see how much hypocrisy is present. Some are suggesting to stop direspectful behaviour by more disrespectful behaviour. Huh?

I'm not sure what other cultural groups might think of you all, if they were reading ths thread.

I've never seen a tour group, so I won't be asking for any money back. I'm talking about the situation everyone else is having a problem with and how it can be fixed. The only way Disney is going to do something about this is if the groups are creating a legitimate security concern. If people decide they just aren't going to take it anymore, that's exactly what's going to happen and they'll have to address it eventually. People being annoyed by them and then coming home and writing letters really isn't going to create that sense of urgency. If this "alpha male" starts shoving people back and gets charges pressed, that will create HUGE amounts of attention to the situation in the media, and again, that's the only way it's actually going to be addressed. So really, the best advice to the guy is to start popping them all in the mouth if they're bothering him.

(Please withhold the lectures, those of you who don't get that this is mostly tongue in cheek)

Think of me what you will - I truly don't care. You keep trying to twist what I said as me wanting to hit somebody which I never said. I can get someone out of my way without laying a hand on them. Of course someone messing with my wife or my kids gives me free reign to do whatever I need to do extract that person or persons from the situation. And for the record, I wasn't just referring to the roving packs of thoughtless tour group members - I was referring all the stupid, inconsiderate folks who seem to check their manners and common sense at the front gate.

Standing up for myself doesn't make me a bully. Me getting in someone's face because they're being inconsiderate or just plain stupid doesn't make me bully. Me not letting a bunch of thoughtless, ill-mannered teens cut in line in front of a bunch of folks who've been standing there respecting the rules doesn't make me a bully. Me holding back a rowdy bunch of teens who keep cutting in line at the FP machine so that other families and their kids can get the turn they had been waiting on doesn't make me a bully. All of these situations actually happened and I didn't hear the word bully uttered once. What I did hear was thank yous from the guests around me who wanted to do the same thing but didn't. I think I'll stick with my way of doing things. Besides, I have a good lawyer! :dance3:
