We just got back and we had a great time. However, I kept thinking...thank goodness we...
1) had private channel walkie-talkies
2) got there at opening time
3) had the Unofficial Guide attraction viewing time guide
4) could use Fastpasses
5) Brought the grandparents!!
6) Had a kitchen at Old Key West (a few calm and healthy meals we most helpful)

We didn't wait in a line for more than 10 minutes for anything and got to walk on to every major attraction at some point, thanks to arriving early and visiting the attractions at the suggested times. Our kids are 2, 7, and 10 so the interests are varied, but with DH's parents being there, we did split up for small amounts of time and we could always stay in touch with the walkie-talkies.
The vast amounts of people can be overwhelming, even on days when the crowd level is at medium and there aren't significant waits for attractions. I cannot IMAGINE going when the crowds are high.
It was a great trip and even with 7 full days in the parks, there is pretty much no way to do it all (at least not with a group of our size). I thought we had cut it down to our main priorities and we could definitely do all of it that we planned, but no.....pretty close but not all of it.
It was really a fun time for ALL of us!

Thanks for tips! What kind of walkie talkies did you have? I am going to be purchacing some in the near future for WDW. I would like to get the most useful type!

I love #5!! We always bring my parents with us, so when the kids get tired, they usually are as well and are always too happy to take the kids back to the resort for us!! Of course the kids are always spoiled rotten when with them, but it is only a few times a year!! :):)

I find the walkie talkies are pretty useless. They were even when I could hear well. Too many people on them. We use our text messaging on the cell phone or my text message pager. Works great and is very private.

Thanks for sharing your tips and insights! Very helpful!

This is a book by Bob Sehlinger that is available at just about every book store. His touring plans are real good and even useful if you just follow them loosely like we used to. He is a bit overly critical of restaurants but I still love the details.

Good luck! Remember to arrive early and hit the popular attractions first.
