Got back very late last night from our christmas trip and thought I would do the traditional highs and lows of our trip!
In one word it was amazing! Christmas in disney is sooooo magical it was unbelievable.
Highs
The Park at Christmas - just breathtakingly beautiful especially in the dark, took may breath away every time! The castle, the tree, the snow, everything!
Walts - we ate here for Christmas lunch and were given a private room with a massive round table, Xmas tree and windows out to Main Street. Treated like royalty and watched the Xmas parade go past. Was amazing!
Magic Circus Hotel - we loved it here, no problems at all. We had a kids suite and it was massive with a lounge area, separate kids room and so much space. Loved the theming and breakfast was fab too.
Wild West Show - we did this Xmas day and loved it! The whole thing was brilliant and a great way to spend a couple of hours. We were all really impressed.
The weather - after worrying about this and packing thermals, waterproofs and snow boots we had not one drop of rain and the weather was so mild we could have done without coats let alone thermals! Even at midnight we were out and it wasn't cold at all. We were so pleased as it made so much difference not being cold all day or wet!
Dreams - this is an obvious one to those who have seen it but there aren't even words to describe it. We watched it Xmas day with VIP viewing area which was amazing as there were about 15 people so had so much room. The rest of the parkw as packed so really appreciated this. It bought a tear to my eyes a few times and I watched the whole thing in complete awe. Disney should be soooo proud of this amazing show.
Lows
Crowds - I know I know it's christmas holidays and I should of expected it but it was soooooo busy, the queues were awful and we didn't get on many rides at all. The evenings were better but after dreams the crowds trying to leave the parks were horrorific.
Shuttle buses - last time we stayed at Davy Crockett and drove but this time we wanted to not have to use the car. We found the buses very convenient and a quick and easy way to get to the parks. No problems in the day but after the park closed there were so. Many people waiting and trying to crowd onto the buses. Every single night there were massive rows and slanging matches. Was horrible and we kept well away and waited for the next bus. There was no way I was getting my children crushed and having to listen to that for the sake of 20 minutes
Sleep! - or lack of it! Was so difficult to see everything as we wanted to get to the park for EMH then stay for dreams at 10 which meant such a long day for the kids who didn't get to bed until gone midnight each night. They were so tired and thIs impacted on their behaviour too and resulted in some mini meltdowns!
That's it! I have to say Christmas Day didn't feel like Xmas day at all and it was amazing but we wouldn't go away over Xmas day again. I felt like this trip the boys didn't feel the magic as much and I spent a lot of time with Rhianna doing girly things and the boys going off to ride the rollercoasters. We have decided the next trip will be a girly trip just me and Rhianna (she's nearly 5) and fingers crossed staying in the disneyland hotel...eeeeek! Bit apprehensive about going on our own but thik it will be great fun! She's only in reception at school so happy to go in school time to avoid crowds!!
Can't wait to plan!
