Just back....some observations and opinions

Just remember, that while fake coughs may annoy you, they don't give you cancer . People choose not to smoke for a reason, and smoking in public effects [sic]other people.
As does coughing in public, especially unnecessarily in an ineffective attempt to make a statement, and most especially without protecting the rest of society from whatever germs might be spewed via that fake cough.

Respectfully, just because you CAN, doesn't mean you SHOULD.
I challenge anyone to find - up through 10:30 PM Eastern time March 16, 2010 - anyone in this thread who has claimed they WILL or DO smoke in lines such as waiting for a boat.

Read CAREFULLY.

Blue is mine.
Remember when seat belts weren't mandatory? Did everyone die in car accidents? No, but there was still a greater risk than there is now because we have a safer way of going about things. People are far more educated about the harm cigarettes can do now, and do not want to risk their health for your convenience.

People may be more educated or reather more scared by media, but we were in smoking everywhere period. It was not theoretical, it was real, and it showed clearly, cancer is not as easy to get as you may think. Just simply connect the dots to see that.

It's not at a smokers discretion to decide if people are making too big of a deal about the risks, the fact is the risks are there and it's just plain rude to subject someone to something that can at best annoy them and at worst kill them (cancer isn't the only option, asthma attacks can be easily trigged by smoke too).

Respectfully, it is rude of a non-smoker to tell smokers it is rude to use their rights and smoke when they are allowed. Asthma attacks can be triggered by many things, smoke is only one in a very long list and it is practically impossible to avoid it, so medications are in order.

I don't think anyone on this thread has said they have or will ever smoke in lines waiting for boats, but as the OP...We obviously encountered someone who did...it only takes one to ruin it for everyone else

I guess X-ray business will not get out of business.:lmao:

I'm amazed that people are acutally making excuses for polluting small childrens' lungs. Disney Policy aside, it's just plain ignorant to smoke near children. If you feel the need to do so and can't wait until you are away from others who do not want to inhale your cancer stick smoke, you are rude.

And to compare coughing to cigarette smoke. Oh dear. :lmao:

Again, reading carefully, please point out where anyone is making excuses for anything - let alone polluting the lungs of a small - or medium, or large - child, or of an adult of any age.

We are simply pointing out that in the absence of a specific prohibition or ban, either by signage or in writing, it is understandable that a smoker would presume they can smoke in such a location.

And to compare coughing to cigarette smoke. Oh dear.

Compare? No. But given all the advice in the last year to help avoid spreading the H1N1 often-fatal pandemic (or was it panic?), I state again - coughing in public, especially unnecessarily in an ineffective attempt to make a statement, and most especially without protecting the rest of society from whatever germs might be spewed via that fake cough affects other people.

In regards to coughing, how can you tell if someone is REALLY coughing, or FAKE coughing?

Some individuals are more sensitive to cigarette smoke than others, and maybe it does trigger a cough when they encounter smoke. You might think they are 'fake' coughing, but you really have no way of knowing for sure.

I have never noticed since I am not a smoker, but I hope there are so that smokers have a place to put out their cigarettes
Which is not the same as, "There are no ash trays on top of trash cans anywhere on the WDW property."

There are. Plenty. In the sections of the 47 square miles where smoking is restricted to small, specific areas. However, where smoking is not governed, there may or may not be ashtrays.

I never said there weren't I just said I have never noticed, so I hope for the sake of smokers that they do have places around Disney where they can put out their cigarettes
