Ok--here goes!
We arrived on Mon. July 5th at around noon. We picked up our rental car at Budget and headed off to Shades of Green.
We arrived at Shades earlier than the 3 pm check in time, but were given a room. Our room was in the new wing (room 4147) and was beautiful. The rooms are spacious, clean, well decorated, the bathrooms are huge! Also, we had a beautiful view of the golf course. It was extremely peaceful and there is a nice big window/balcony that lets a lot of light in if you wish. Our room was also not far from the lobby, elevator, and also close to the parking garage, so we got lucky. It was far from the pools, however, but my husband and I aren't really big "pool people."
We used the mini-safe every day for jewelry, etc. and also the coffeemaker and refrigerator. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Bus service was great, we loved being close to all the parks, etc. There is high speed internet accessible on the TV, or you can plug your laptop into the phone (although it is not the normal setup) and dial locally (if you have juno, etc) for 50 cents.
The TV internet is $5 per 30 min. so we just dialed out for the two little things we needed online for.
Housekeeping was really good, but many days they get your room done late (around 5 pm) but that wasn't that important to us because we really weren't in the room that often.
That first night we walked over the the Poly and ate at O'Hana. The food and service was excellent, but my husband did not like the value. What I mean, is that we aren't really big eaters, and the amount of food that was put on our plate was enormous, and we had to leave a lot. The food quality was very good, but I wish they had another option to order a la carte or smaller portions. We wouldn't eat here again because of the large portions, but I highly recommend it for people who like buffets, etc. The two of us were just overwhelmed.
The next day we were out bright and early to the MK. We were there about 45 min. before opening, and we were one of the first people in the park. We headed straight for Space Mountain (as our Unofficial guide told us to) and waited for yet another rope drop. We walked right on the ride and loved it. My husband was very nervous because he had chickened out of this ride as a kid, but he really liked it, and was surprised how tame it was. We kept following the guide, and actually encountered 2 other families using the same guide. It worked like a charm, and by our noon PS for Liberty Tree Tavern, we had ridden Space Mountain, Buzz, Snow White, Pooh, Peter Pan, Splash Mountain, and Thunder Mountain. We had no lines at anything, and we are talking peak season here. It was awesome (thanks unofficial guide!)
LTT was wonderful. A cool respite from the heat. The service was very good, and I had a salad which was the best salad I have ever had, and my husband had the turkey lunch feast. We both cleaned our plates. I would recommend this place. Food quality, service, etc. were great. We were seated right away for our PS time also.
Read my part two for our next day!
