Just back, several ride breakdowns..........

Hi all, just flew in yesterday. While we were there, we waited 20 minutes for Peter Pan and then it broke down, had a fastpass for Space Mountain, were just about to go on after only about a 10 minute wait and it broke down...........increasing our wait only about another 10 minutes..........Got stuck on Pirates.....not really sure why, but there was a huge line of boats all bumped up together, and we were stuck in the last room..........I think there was another one, but I can't remember it.................we never had anything break down when we've been on our other three trips..............is it because of more people? But, I don't know, we've been in summer and Easter before...................................didn't really bother us, but just thought I'd share...............

I've had the same thing happen on Pirates the past 5 times we've been there in the last 2 years. It always happens at the end - near where the dog is holding the keys. No idea why - sometimes it's just for a little bit and other times much longer.

That same thing happened to us once on pirates when we were there last weekend. I don't mind though, it lets me look at the detail of the scene a little more closely.

When we were "stuck" on Pirates it was because they stopped it to let a wheelchair off so maybe that was it for you as well.

i used to think that whenever the rides stopped like that that they were broken down...UNTIL i went in 1996 with my grandfather who needed to use the handicapped lines. every ride we went on was stopped to allow us to board. that was when I realized what was going on with the unexpected stops during rides. I don' mind having to wait a minute so someone with mobility issues can board. i take the opportunity to inspect the scenery. i have found a couple of hidden mickeys doing this. We got stopped on Pirates for the first time on our Thanksgiving trip. I never even thought about the wheelchair folks. Dopey me!!! It's nice to know that there wasn't an issue with the attraction tho. Unlike BTMRR. We got stopped at the falling rocks section and had to walk out...right at the bat cave area. Some were on the outside hillier sections!! Then RnRC didn't get started at park opening for a few hours. And Space Mt. went down just as we returned for our FP time. TT was a huge issue. It seemed that every time we tried to ride it there was an issue. At one point the FP line took about 20 minutes. We would have left but we were so far inside that we figured it would only be a short wait but that wasn't the case. Ah well, still had a good time. We all love being able to say that we had to walk off BTMRR!!!

The only ride I've ever been on that got stuck was CoP, it completely stopped in between the 40's room and the modern room (someone came on and announced they were having difficulties. It was funny to see the animatronics continue talking without actually hearing the spiel.

I think it's kinda cool when a ride stops. Gives you a chance to really look at the details :earboy:

I was once stopped completely on Epcot's Horizons back in the 80's. They opened the back/middle of the car and we had to walk down into the basement/underground area. It was so cool and really worth the hassle of sitting on the ride for a half an hour. Oh Horizons, how I can still smell that fake orange scent. Reminds me of high school trips with friends.

Yup! Experienced that 3 times during the 2nd climb at BTMRR (we rode it at least 12 times during this past trip), every single time at Splash Mountain (we rode it around 8 times in a row, it's really a long walk from the exit to get back to the loading area. phew!)

At PoC (also this trip), definitely a ride breakdown, it doesn't take 15 minutes to load anybody to the boat

PS: Micca, I feel kinda disappointed because the trolley song has a completely different arrangement than the one they performed along Main Street USA. The one on the CD is far inferior. Then again, many of the rides' soundtrack on Disney CDs I've collected all these years tend to be the inferior version (not necessarily recording quality, but mostly song arrangement-wise) than the actual ride.

We had a similar experience with many rides culminating with a total shutdown (the CTL-ALT-DLT kind) of the monorail. On the monorail they announced what they had to do, but it took a while and when we approached the contemporary the PA system announced we were arriving at the Poly. The cars lurched and some people were worried that the doors would open prematurely.

People were calling it "The Broken Kingdom". Fix the parks!

Walt Disney hit 3,000 RPM that day.

RnR Coaster broke down on Christmas Day. We had been through the pre-show and when we walked into the "alley" all the lights were on. People were sitting in both limos ready to go. Two repairmen walked down the track and crawled over the side. In a few minutes the CM's emptied the limos and made the rest of us exit the alley. We were given fast passes which are good until 1/15/05 for our trouble. I overheard the CM talking to the guest ahead of me and saying that this was the 3rd time it had broken down. Don't know if he was referring to the 3 times being all yesterday or not.

Forgot to mention, Test Track also broke down several times (20 minutes was the shortest one, while we were in line, broke down at least 4 times out of the 5 or 6 times we rode it that day.. makes you "want" to buy GM cars... LOL!) during our trip to Epcot. So did Dinosaurs for almost 40 minutes at AK... twice.
