Just returned from a five night / six day stay. I thought I'd share our dining experience while we were there since we did little else but eat. My wife and I drove down from Jersey making numerous stops at points of interest along the way. We met up with daughter Sarah who flew in from San Diego where she now resides. Here we go.
Breakfast:
Spoodles:
Ate here twice, the usual stuff, eggs, waffles, omelets. All of which was good but the portions are too large. Smaller portion and price would be good.
Yacht Club Galley
Ate here three times. Same comment as above.
Lunch:
Various stands throughout the Food & Wine Festival.
This was lunch a couple of days & the main reason we come this time of year. No complaints about anything we tried. Personally, I can't get enough of the cabbage rolls from Poland; the raspberry wine isn't bad either.
Beaches & Cream:
Always a favorite, got to love those burgers.
Kona Cafe:
Marie had the Asian Noodle Bowl.
Sarah had the Stir Fried Asian Noodles.
I had two appetizers. A shrimp & coconut curry soup and crab cakes.
For dessert we shared a banana creme brulee and a Kilahuea torte.
All was very good.
Liberty Tree Tavern:
Marie & Sarah shared a roast beef & swiss.
I had the turkey dinner.
No dessert and all was good.
Dinner:
Chefs de France:
We started with a champagne toast to celebrate our first night back at Disney and our reunion with Sarah.
Marie shared our appetizers and had the grilled salmon.
Sarah had pumpkin soup, grilled pork chops and wine.
I had escargots, seared tuna and wine.
We shared a warm apple tart with ice cream for dessert.
Everything was excellent.
Fulton's Crab House:
Marie had crab cakes.
Sarah had mussels & clams in a broth.
I had clam chowder & king crab legs.
All was good but I thought the crab leg portion was rather small for the
price. No dessert, no one was very hungry.
California Grill:
We shared a flatbread with tomato and gorgonzola cheese and California sushi rolls for appetizers.
Marie had a teriyaki steak that she says was to die for.
Sarah had spicy sushi rolls.
I had Buffalo steak.
I know we had dessert but can't remember what it was. And ,of course,
there was wine involved. All was excellent.
Victoria & Alberts:
A champagne toast seemed to be in order so we had one.
Marie:
Chorizo Crusted Tuna w/ White Beans,Arbequina Olives & Banyuls Vinaigrette
Ballotine of Poulet Rouge w/ Chicken Consomme, Scottish Chantrelles & Black
Truffles.
Alaskan King Salmon w/ Celery Root Puree & Carnival Cauliflower
Kurobuta Pork Tenderloin & Belly w/ Banana Squash Ragout.
Cheese course: Pierre Robert, Comte Saint Antoine & Taleggio
Caramelized Banana Gateau
I'm not quite sure what all that means, I'm just copying the menu, but it sure does taste good. Marie says the tenderloin was outstanding and the belly was even better.
Sarah:
Walnut Oil Seared Duck w/ Hearts of Palm, Huckleberry Vinaigrette & Fourme d' Ambert Fondue.
Same Chicken as above.
Seared Wild Turbot w/ Toasted Capers & Meyer Lemon
Australian "Kobe" Beef Tenderloin w/ Smoked Garlic Puree
Spiced Apple Gelato w/ Micro Mint
Grand Marnier Souffle
Me:
Same Tuna as above
Minnesota Elk Tenderloin w/ Stewed Petite Lentils & Corn
The Turbot
The Aussie Kobe
The Cheese Course
Berry Gateau w/ Mango Yogurt Pannacotta
I also had the wine pairing with my dinner.
Our waiter told us that the turbot was flown in fresh from France each day and is the best fish you will ever taste. Sarah & I are inclined to agree. We had to pay a premium for the turbot and the Kobe beef but we both felt it was well worth it. There was also a Japanese Kobe that was even more expensive.
The final check was not for the faint of heart but, what the heck, we only do this once a year. It goes without saying, everything was EXCELLENT!
Bistro de' Paris
Marie:
Wild Smoked Salmon w/ Crab Meat
Maine Lobster
Sarah & I both had a four course tasting menu with a wine pairing. I forgot to write down what we ate and still can't remember. I do know that it was delicious.
Marie & Sarah shared a dessert plate that had five miniature desserts.
I had the Crepe Suzette which they prepare at your table and is just fun to watch. It is also wonderful to eat. Another excellent meal.
Well, that's it. We did use the Disney Dining Experience Card which saved us twenty percent on each meal which makes it a great investment. I'd be happy to answer any questions if I'm able. You'll have to excuse me now, I need to go pedal my bike for a couple of days.
