Got back yesterday. Will post trip report soon, but here are some general thoughts/comments:

  • Spectromagic and FITS were nice, but now that I've seen them I will use that time to hit the rides from now on.
  • Pleasure Island was horrible. Putting drunk adults and young children in the same place is a bad idea. The live music was just awful.
  • I love Typhoon Lagoon. It's got enough slides to keep DW happy while I float around the lazy river and take a dip in the surf pool.
  • TOT is a bit scarier than I remember. They really did a number on the programming of that ride. I still loved it, though.
  • Rode Hulk at IOA. Never, ever again! WAY too intense for me. I'm glad I did it just so I can say I did.
  • Sci-Fi Dine In was cool, but a bit pricey.
  • BIG Thumbs up for Air Tran Airways. On the trip home they put us on a nonstop flight even though we had booked a connection. And who can beat a $35 upgrade to Business Class after a long hot week?
  • LOVED the Vistana Resort, where we stayed with friend in their villa. It almost makes me want to buy a timeshare. Almost.

I didn't know children were even allowed in Pleasure Island. My husband and I went there right before we married and after our experience we wouldn't consider taking kids there. It was about 10 yrs ago so maybe things have changed, but there was a lot of drinking and everything that goes along with it. Just our experience. Glad the rest of your trip was good. Welcome home!

About PI? I thought that kids couldn't even enter after a certain time of day? I wouldn't take ds there anyway--I was just wondering if they've started letting kids in all the time.

We don't drink and drunks are no fun to us so we would never go to PI anyway, but why people would take kids there is beyond me! We also love the water parks, great fun for all ages!!! WARNING, once you stay in a timeshare it is tough to go back to a regular hotel room! We own another timeshare which we trade through RCI and have stayed at Vistana in the past. We just bought DVC so we can stay onsite and still get the t/s benefits. Having a kitchen, washer/dryer, 3 t.v.s, and 2 bathrooms is great for our family. Look at resales if you are considering t/s's!!

Thanks for sharing your comments! I agree with your thoughts on PI too!

Kids have always been allowed into PI with an adult but are not allowed to go to certain bars or dance halls. We have always taken ours in to see the first show of Comedy Warehouse, Adventurers Club and to look around in the stores. When they were little, like 6 and 10 we stayed late one night to see what the "New Years Eve" celebration was all about(it wasn't New Years Eve- it was in June). They loved it, and there were tons of kids there. I have never really noticed anyone drunk and doing things they shouldn't but then again all we go in are the CW, AC, and the stores. We also watch the group at the outdoor stage sometimes. We are non-drinkers but still enjoy some parts of PI.

Welcome back. Glad you had a wonderful time. I agreee with PI. I would never take my kids there at night.

I did the same thing with my son two years ago. I wouldn't take him to the late CW shows, but the early shows are fine. The night we were the the cast used two kids in one of the skits.

DS and I spent most of our time just walking around all of DTD.

I didn't see any thing at PI that my son can't/hasn't seen on the streets of NYC.
